A week later I was in pain again and seen my dr. She did a quick throat culture and yep, I had strep again. She gave me a routine exam where I explained to her all of the enlarged lymph nodes I have. Did the doctor just do a strep test or did he also do a throat culture? The strep test usually just checks for one type of strep called Streptococcus pyogenes or group A strep. There are several other types of Strep that can cause a bad throat infection. So they should have done a culture too. Also, though, having the sinus issue at the same time seems to imply that you may have a viral infection. Did or do you have a high fever.

All of this just to communicate that it sounds likely to me that you have a group b strep infection in your throat.

Consider your drinking water a source. We were on well water and were informed that the constant strep throat infection my kids had could be coming from the water they were drinking. So about 5 almost 6 months ago I had a very bad throat infection that was very similar to strep. I had 1 rapid strep test and 2 throat cultures in the span of 1 month and all of these were normal. Also for the past 5 months all tests I have done have been mostly normal. I do have high blood pressure now, the lymph nodes under my neck have been swollen for 4/5 months, sometimes have lower abdominal pain, and get frequent hot flashes.

The above posts are all good, I would add that you see your doctor for a throat culture to rule out a serious throat infection and to get on anti-biotics to kill any infection.

I have a mildly sore throat that is presenting itself like strep with white pus on my tonsils (minus the severe pain, fever and other symptoms). I suspect a lingering illness based on you being a smoker and recently having a sinus infection. now just sunday (10/16) she has developed strep throat and tonsilitis which is painful to her. she developed a high fever and chills. now she is on meds again. now (10/17) she is having night sweats. ive read that persons with possible hiv exposure develop opportunistic infections whenever the immune system is greatly weakened. she never had strep the last time that we felt bad which was in july.
