My 2 1/2 year old daughter has Urticaria Pigmentosa with alot of lesions; her back has many as does her neck and scalp, the front of her torso has quite alot and they are also on her legs, feet, arms and face in decreasing numbers.
It has been the worst diagnoses along with my death sentence of MRSA Staph infection. I thought it was a string of bad luck for me but bad luck shouldn't last my whole life or at least to what I have left. I'm on medications for this chronic urticaria. the following is Doxepin 25mg, Rantidine, and my epi pen. My doctors described this as something related to my staph infection or stress. I'm really confused because the skin specialist was clueless to a point also.
Looking to make friends with others who have autoimmune urticaria and share stories, symptoms, food for thought, etc. Anyone game?
but they weren't as severe as they are now. Whenever I had a sinus infection or other bacterial infection and was on antibiotics...the hives would disappear. I went to many allergy specialists at that time but none of the doctors wanted to give hormone tests, as I wasn't diagnosed with hypo until about 5 years ago. The hives just disappeared and didn't reappear for 24 years. It's a little comforting to know that there are other people like me...
I have been diagnosed with autoimmune urticaria. The throat swelling is the most concerning. I'm taking Allegra, Ranitinidine, Zyrtec and Bendryl (as needed). To the person who commented on eating a mango and having a reaction, mine has clearly been driven by things I put on or in my body. This includes makeup, lotions, shampoos and toothpase.
Hi, Water urticaria, also known as aquagenic urticaria and aquagenous urticaria, is an extremely rare form of physical urticaria. It is sometimes described as an allergy. In affected persons, water on the skin causes hives to appear within 15 minutes and last for up to two hours. Water contact can cause aquagenic urticaria, presumably due to chlorine or some other trace chemical in the water, although distilled water has been known to cause this reaction.

Hello, The symptoms that you are having can be due to viral throat infection causing sore throat, allergies esp air borne allergies and also panic disorder can be related to these symptoms. I sincerely suggest you to get an examination done by an allergist /chest physician to confirm the diagnosis. You may need a throat swab examination and allergy tests to confirm the diagnosis.Treatment will depend on the same. The tests for allergies include skin tests and blood tests like RAST.
However, the other night at a restaurant my hives started up severely around my torso and my upper lip started to swell up and was that way for about 4 hours(whether this be a reaction to a food allergy or not, but I only know that im allergic to clementines and there was nothing on the menu that had this ingredient) Today I woke up with a very sore throat and my wrists around my joints have swelled right up. I am a 20 year old female and have no family history of joint disorders or cancer.
So, theoretically I should be fine, but I am not ! About three weeks after my exposure I had a few days a soar throat (very mild though), and the week thereafter some loose stools (but apparently only after exposure to some specific foods like ice cream) but no fever or swollen lymph nodes or a rash. But I am suffering for a month now from a general itchiness and red stripes on my back when scratched. My dermatologist diagnosed it as 'dermographism'.
The congestion has shifted to the nose and now is sitting in my throat(voice is hoarse). I have a cough that is dry but sometimes brings up mucous. The hand rash persists and my trunk rash goes from very faint(maybe not even there) to obvious. It seems to be consistently on my chest in the collar area. I also have a couple small mouth sores that have showed up in the last day or so.

This looks like urticaria or hives. The swellings or wheals produced after itching can be pale (of skin color) or red. Urticaria is usually triggered by allergens, such as drugs, foods, insect bites, inhaled substances, in response to sunlight, cold, heat, stress, exercise, or a viral infection. Other common allergens are pollen, mold, dust, pet dander, or cosmetics. Since your sister experienced an itch, just tell her to go over these possibilities in your mind. Something may strike her.
as u can see my picture its bumpy rashes not an normal rash/itch one more thing some months ago i had CBC test in which i had less white blood cells and somtime i have an cough which comes like from middle of my throat even iam not having any infection. My 21 month old daughter has just started getting these as well, she has had a chest, throat and ear infection is on antiboitics, they come up randomly on her face and neck sometimes they are single red lumps and other times they are patches full of small lumps (looks like stingy nettle stings) been to hosiptal they said its to do with her illness, still scares me everytime!
Hello, This rash could be due to hives which can occur after a viral infection. Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours. Many cases of hives are "idiopathic," meaning no cause is known. Others may be triggered by viral infections or medications.
I'm tired all the time and I still can't go to sleep. My lymph nodes under my neck are swollen and I have urticaria. I need an answer. My mum thinks I'm imaging it. I thought so too, but now I'm not too sure. It's getting worse everyday.
Hi Thanks for writing to the forum! Urticaria is usually triggered by allergens, such as drugs, foods, insect bites, inhaled substances, in response to sunlight, cold, heat, stress, exercise, or a viral infection. Other common allergens are pollen, mold, dust, pet dander, or cosmetics. In your case since this was associated with vomiting it could be a food item you ate or a drug you took for something. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage .
I still get some rash in the morning which disappears (i dont take any more pills) All the doctors who saw me said it was urticaria and that i may have it for some time. I had urticaria again 14 years ago, when i was 18,19 years old (no possible HIV infection then). I have also been feeling tired and sleepy and i am generally very stressful. 1. COULD ALL THESE BE SYMPTOMS OF HIV INFECTION? 2. IS IT POSSIBLE FOR THEM TO LAST SO LONG AFTER THE LAST TIME I HAD SEX? 3. DO I NEED A TEST? 4.
It lasts about two to three months, though the symptoms will last for a shorter period. Seroconversion is also known as acute HIV infection. The symptoms of an HIV infection are often described as ‘flu-like,’ the most common are fever and chills, swollen glands, a sore throat (with or without ulcers), anaemia and rash, particularly on the upper body.
Symptoms: I find that my throat feels constricted, which at worse can create feelings of nausea and can stop me from speaking. Moving head up or to the right can increase throat constriction. At worst, this is accomponied by pain at the top of my chest, pressure at the the top of the forehead, and also general skin irritation, especially in the car or at night. Whole package tends to come in waves - usually worst at night.
Two days ago I was prescribed high dose amoxicillan to treat an ear infection and strep throat. It seems my urticaria has kicked into high gear. I have never had a drug allergy in the past, but is it possible or even probable that I have one now that i suffer from autoimmune diseases? I read somewhere that drug allergy is in a sense autoimmune in that your body attacks the drug thinking it is bad. Anyone develop drug allergies with autoimmune disorders?
They will complain of aches and pains and will probably want to sleep more and may have a discoloured discharge (any green or yellow discharge is indicative of an infection.) They may have a cough, complain of earache or sore throat. Even if the child is off their food, make sure they drink plenty of fluids so that they do not get dehydrated through fever. With allergic reactions the symptoms can be itchy eyes, runny nose and sneezing, sometimes urticaria or hives (a rash).
If needed you have to use the epipen, otherwise it can be life threatening. Urticaria pigmentosa occurs more in children. In adults, urticaria pigmentosa may develop into a more serious condition called systemic mastocytosis. Antihistamines may relieve symptoms such as itching and flushing. Epipen is needed for severe episodes. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
The cause of chronic urticaria is often more difficult to identify. Most cases are called chronic idiopathic urticaria, which means they're caused by the body's unexplainable development of antibodies to itself (auto-antibodies). The mainstay of treatment is antihistamine and non-sedating antihistamines such as Cetirizine(Zyrtec) or Loratadine(Claritin) may be needed to get symptom relief. Sedating antihistamines such as Chlorphenamine(Benadryl)is used at night to get urticaria control.
Hello, From your symptoms it is most likely a viral rash following a viral infection or it can be due to hives.
My hands and face feel hot and as if needles are being pushed in. No sore throat, no body aches, no swollen glands no fever, no night sweats. I received protected oral sex from a black prostitute a month ago. I also had protected sex with a prostitute 2 months ago. Not sure if this is an HIV rash?
5 years (from May/June-2010) I have had hacking cough and skin urticaria (dermatographism). Following were some symptoms I had in July/Aug-2010: - Bad taste early morning. - Choking and wheezing after having dinner. - Slight pain in the chest. - Running made everything worse. - Cold made things worse too. - Skin dermatographism (urticaria). I starting visiting GP’s and NHS doctors in Sept-2010; they asked me to use their favourite drug “paracetamol” which didn’t improve anything.
A feeling of tightness around your throat or a sore throat is one of the many listed hypothyroid symptoms. In most cases, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis is confirmed by two antibody tests: anti-TPO and TgAb. One antibody can be normal with the other elevated so it is important to have both tested.
