old was seen today for a fever and sore throat complaint. the ped. said she has a throat infection and swollen glands and prescribed meds. she did check other areas of her body for glands (at least that is what i think she was feeling for). about 7 weeks ago she had the same thing (tho the whole family passed around a fever/infection). should we be overly concerned that she has been sick like this twice in two months? what would be the tell tale signs of leukemia or lymphoma in a child?
Over the course of the day my symptoms worsened, I had a severly sore throat, swollen glands, headache, all of my joints ached but mot my muscles and had no fever. The next day I saw my family doctor. He tested for strep, (test was negative). He said my lungs sounded good, no sinus problems and blood pressure was fine. Said he had no idea what it was. I was instructed to take Ibuprofen and chloriseptic spray for thoat to help with pain.
- Swollen armpit glands (not individual nodes, but a general swollen feeling) for 4 weeks, starting 23 days post exposure. Is this the normal timeline for acture HIV symptoms, and is this a common one?
- Could this be related to another STD anyones aware of?
- Does the Oraquick (gum swab) test provide the 80-85% accuracy at 4 weeks some people seem to be claiming, or does this figure only apply to blood tests?
It could most probably be tonsillitis and a throat infection. Throat pain, difficulty swallowing, fever, scratchiness in the throat, post nasal drip, malaise and loss of appetite are symptoms of tonsillitis. It can be caused by bacteria like streptococcus or it could be a viral infection. Bacterial infections need antibiotics. Infections in the throat cause lymph node enlargement. As, it is subsiding with the infection, it is the most likely cause.

Thanks for the prompt response. You mention 4 to 14 days as the time for blisters to appear. Considering I'm only 60 hours into this possible exposure, I'm guessing it's too early to tell, right? I'm just nervous the swollen glands for 48 hours is a sign for things to come. Your response gives me hope, I just want to make sure it's not false hope.
okay so basically i came down with swollen glands a couple days ago and now i think i have a ear infection. i feel as though my ear have a wall and i cant get rid of it, yet when i yawn they feel like they are going to pop is this bad or not? if it's good how do i yawn without hurting my throat cause while im trying to yawn my throat hurts so bad. i have tried to take all sorts of medication but none seem to be working.
I initially thought it was a knot in my muscle, but now I have swollen neck glands with no sore throat.
If all you can feel is like a pen tip then your groin lymphnodes are not swollen and your swollen throat glands are from your throat infection.
They say when you have early hiv if any glands will swell it will be all of them, groin, armpit, and throat. I would try not to worry about it too much (I know its hard to do when you have hiv phobia, which I have as well)
Go get tested at the right time and put the fear behind you.
But but swollen glands still there and I took some other medicine to try get rid of it which apperantly didnt help, until now it is march my swollen glands and ocassional sore throat is still there but no fever and other hiv sympthom but rashes sometimes and even small tiny white dot on my lips which might be quite common. My major concern is, I feel my heart and langs slightly painful in General. What kind of sypmthom is it? Should I see another std doctor for another blood test?
hi, i got a sore throat about 2 months ago, the doctor diagnosed tonsilitis, and put me on calvepen, this got rid of the fever symptons but my glands stayed swollen an my throat stayed red, when the fever came back a few weeks later i went back and he put me on augmenten, this had the same effect i went back last week and was put back on calvepen and he did a mono test which came back negative, but said my white blood cell count was high and it looked like i was at the tale end of a virus, somed

Neck lymph nodes can be the result of tonsillitis, pharyngitis (infection of upper throat), infection in mouth, caries in tooth, internal ear infection, outer ear infection, eczema, dermatitis, dandruff, breast cancer, fungal infection, other cancers like lymphoma etc. If you had flu like symptoms initially then it could be due to infectious mononucleosis too.

I first noticed my lymph nodes were swollen on the left side of my neck about 2 weeks ago. They may have been swollen longer than that, I'm not sure because I don't regularly feel my neck. I was concerned about it so I decided to go to the doctor. I explained my concerns to my doctor, told her I wasn't experiencing any other symptoms (no pain, sore throat, fatigue, loss of appetite, etc.) I also don't have swollen glands anywhere else.

Hi, I'm new to all this posting so excuse me if it doesn't make sense, I'm a 28yr old female and I've been suffering from swollen glands which is tender and slightly painful sometimes but not all the time in my neck for over a month now, but also my jaw and ears and behind my ears but no sore throat my doctor is sending me for blood tests but also advised me to see a dentist, I'm starting to worry it could something serious as I like to panic And over think think things since
