Avatar n tn I have suffered from pnd and constant clearing my throat most of my life. At times it gets very bad and includes infected sinuses. I have had the sinus surgery but it did little good. Occasionally, I wake up suddenly, choking. I can't breathe and gasp for air for a couple minutes. I come close to passing out before I gradually regain my breath, but only by gasping as hard as I can. It really scares me because I almost lose consciousness.

Avatar m tn Hi, I have an immune disease and have had this happen before, it's always from a throat infection of some type: strep, mono, etc. Also the lumps could be your tonsils or adenoids swelling up if they are infected, or they could be some type of patches due to a fungal infection like thrush, I've had all of those things. I'd suggest just going to your primary care doctor or an ear/nose/throat doctor and they should be able to diagnose it pretty easily.
Avatar f tn The dermoplast is good ( the blue can, not the red can for the genital area ). Also soaking in the tubby with epsom salts or aveeno bath thrown in is helpful too. Unfortunately until you are seen thursday it'll probably be far too late for a lesion culture and typing :( Be sure to get a baseline herpes igg blood test drawn and also get tested for yeast and bacterial infections as well as other std's while there.

If it is a viral infection, viral sore throat is best treated with rest, warm oral fluids and (OTC) tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen for pain. Avatar f tn However, these set of symptoms may also be observed in a viral infection or some other kind of illness. To confirm if this is due to streptococcus bacteria, throat swab or culture and direct physical examination may be done. If this is due to a viral infection, it usually resolves after a few days. Rest, saline gargle and medicated lozenges usually provide symptomatic relief. If it persists, further management may need to be done. Take care and do keep us posted.

Avatar m tn or constricted sensation in my throat since suffering a severe viral infection in November of last year. I have had CT scans and Xrays of my throat which all show that everything is normal. I have an appointment with an ENT at the end of the month. I have read all of the symptoms for GERD and the throat thing does tie in with what I am experiencing however I don't have constant burning in my throat and windpipe. Only have occasional heartburn and not often enough for it to be a concern.
Avatar f tn she also took a swab of my throat to see is it was the streptococcus infection (strep throat) but I did not get told when the results would be back. My tonsils aren't as sore because I've been staying on top of pain relief and I've been taking the right dosage of antibiotic which my ear infection isn't as bad but tonsils haven't seemed to decrease in size. The white puss spots on my tonsils have also gotten whiter, what does this mean?
Avatar n tn I am 52 and have recently been diagnosed with LPR. I have had a terrible sore throat for 3 months. No visible signs of any damage to my throat by ENT I had a gastroscope and everything came back normal, no acid reflux found and vocal cords in great condition. How then can I have LPR? I have been put on 40mg of Nexium once a day. I now have a sore tonque as well as my sore throat. Only been on Nexiun for a week. It is all so confusing for me and NOTHING relieves the sore throat.
Avatar n tn This is completely out of character for me, but anyway...Not long afterward I had some minor symptoms, sore throat, body aches, headaches. I thought immune system run down, took some nightqual and airborne. Shortly after that I began to have vaginal itching and looked into my throat to see redness and what looks like could appear to be some form of blistering. It does not burn when I urinate though. I have not ran any fever as far as I know.
