it started before he got the antibiotic though, and before the MRSA throat infection was diagnosed. And this all started with what I thought was a virus. Do you think he should get a sputum culture, and is that even possible when he's not coughing? Thanks again for all your advice, you've been very helpful, which is very much appreciated.. it makes this a lot harder that he's in another country and I can't talk to the doctors there.

, it's just a spray that you spray in your throat several times a day. It's all natural and alcohol free with no side effects. It's good for fever, chills, achiness, nausea, fatigue, headaches, congestion, coughs and sneezing. It is really expensive but that's what we take in my family and it seems to be working. My son HATES taking RX cough medicine but loves this stuff because it has no taste what-so-ever! I get mine at a health food store or an organic pharmacy.
I dont know much about home remedies but I will tell you that after a certain point in my pregnancy, my nose became so sensitive. I think maybe after 12 or 15 weeks this happened. throat infection since childhood almost every time treated by doctors with antibiotics like Amoxycilin, Ciprox, Erythromycin, etc. If I tried home remedies like steam inhalation, hot water gargling, etc. infection worsens to the extent it effects digestion. However, after 50+ age now, these attacks getting more frequent, almost monthly even after treatment by antibiotics. Also, I get tired easily & feel weak & aching in extremities.

Does anyone have any idea of what this could be and could it be related to my son? Also if i cant see a doctor for myself are there any home remedies or will i have to suck it up and go to the doctor?
I took her to another doctor early January and they did a strep test and it must have been negative because they only contact if positive... I've been doing home remedies, it has gradually gotten better but she still has much discomfort even now... Can anyone shed any light on this situation?... she did have other symptoms for a reasonable amount of time such as low fever tiredness but those have passed except she still gets tired at times...any suggestions would be appreciated...
The main thing to remember to do is to keep your throat moist - a most throat won't feel as sore and scratchy as a dry throat will and a dry throat is more likely to cause coughing, which will further irritate your throat. If the sore throat is caused by a bacterial infection such as strep, the above home remedies will still provide relief from pain, but like with a virus, it won't get rid of the bacteria causing the infection and in order to do that, you will need an antibiotic.
My 11 year old son has been having problems with throat clearing and making noises in his throat when eating. His began last fall after a throat infection. He had repeated tonsillitis over the next few months and the throat noises were constant. We had his tonsils out in December and the throat clearing and noises stopped instantly.
The mucous sliding down the back of my throat is still everpresent, and causes me to constantly clear my throat, which oftentimes triggers a coughing episode, though the coughing has subsided considerably. Since my daughter recently had a c-section and has two other children, she's needed me to help her and I'm afraid to go anywhere near the newborn, not knowing if this mucous thing with the accompanying cough is contagious or not.
thanks for your response. it could very well be strep as i have spent all day online researching the posibilities visa vie the symptoms .. but in truth, seems like it could be 3-4 other things based on my recent activies. one thing about the body aches .. i havent had the flu lately .. in fact in more than half a year .. so its highly doubtful that the body aches are being caused by that .. but its also possible that the body aches are being caused by something altogether different.
He said the infection was gone, but that I still had postnasal drip and that this explained the spots on my throat as well as the congested ears. So he prescribed Fexofenadine and some ear drops and sent me back on my way. That brings us to the present. I haven't taken the meds very well as they keep me from sleeping well and just make me feel weird. So, admittedly, the fact that the symptoms are persisting could very well be my own fault.

It would be a good idea to see your doctor to rule out asthma or a throat infection. Make sure you drink plenty of water. Won't stop it, but it keeps you and your throat hydrated and gets rid of any irritant in your throat. Best wishes.
It started with a sore throat and headache and pain in his sinus region as well as phlem in the back of the throat and a cough started. Do you have a cough. After the 3rd attack, I nursed him back to health with plenty of bed rest, 4,000mg of Vitamin C per day, home-made turkey soup and plenty of juicy fruits like citrus (oranges and lemons; the lemon was squeezed in his herbal tea) and berries (strawberries, blueberries..etc).
Do consult your family physician if these home remedies do not help. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
I know this might sound wacky, and this is not intended to be medical advice or to replace a doctor, but when I had what I think to be recurring ear infections what helped to knock them down more than anything else was putting a piece of garlic in my ear (not inside it just gently at the base of the canal). Garlic is a powerful natural antibacterial and antifungal.
I began taking Yasmin again in June, when I got my first yeast infection. I tried the home remedies ( tons of garlic, yoghurt and cutting out sugars)...and it still didn't go away so I finally took Monistat 3-day...which didn't clear the infection. I went to see my doctor and he perscribed me three 150mg Diflucan, which I took and finally cleared the infection after two weeks ( I had my period in between).
Cut the dairy/sugar from my diet (to no avail) Neti pot, and a combination of Afrin + Neti Pot solution Gently steaming my sinuses Blowing my nose with my head upside down Lots of anti-fungal supplements (Papaya, Acidophilus, etc) I'm still here. I'm still hurting.
I've tried drinking soda, swallowing air, etc, and it just makes me feel uncomfortable but doesn't make me burp. Instead, my throat gurgles. The best way to describe the sound is like a stomach growling, only in the throat. It's incredibly embarrassing and I can't prevent it from happening. It tends to happen a lot after I drink juice or soda, but also sometimes after meals where I only drank water.
But first I had the swine flu, followed by an ear inefection, then a sinus infection, and then the strep throat. This was over the course of two months, without a rest between any illness. I was prescribed antibiotics for each issue, but now I have a recurring sore throat. I was blaming my stress from school on my illness, but I am now on vacay and I am still getting sick. I am good for a day, then I crash.
I went to see a doctor yesterday and he doesn't think it is a strep throat, which I believe is a baterial infection... He prescribed a narcotic pain reliever Hycodan, which is a cough syrup and causes drawziness but this morning I feel my sore throat is getting worse even though couphing went away. I have no fever and that's why he believed it might be a viral infection. Any ideas?
Has anyone had terrible neck pain while having a bad sinus infection? I have had a sinus infection since August that won't go away! I have been on very strong antibiotics and steroids. My neck pain is very bad and stops me from almost doing anything around the house. The pain is at the base of my head on the right side and radiates down to my neck and shoulder and last night down my arm. I have never had pain in my neck that has lasted so long.
I have taken Priolosec in the mornings the last week and then bumped it up to AM and PM for the last two days. I have noticed less throat clearing but I still feel as though my throat is irritated. I don't have any lump or trouble swallowing (knocking on wood right now). My questions are: Does this sound like LPR? and if it is....can I recover from this and not have to take meds the rest of my life to control it? Oh gosh...I'm very scared.
In May I began to have dizzy spells which coincided with a sore throat and earache, which cleared up on their own. However, dizziness and fatigue continued for several weeks. The dizziness resembled being carsick, with lightheadedness and occasional moments of nausea and feeling faint (but I never passed out). I had a CAT scan and blood work twice, and so far no diagnosis for the dizziness/fatigue.
Do your research-there are many sites who recommend a garlic clove. Don't be afraid to try home remedies that work. Remember-if it's safe enough to eat, it can't be as bad as putting chemicals into your body. Food for thought!
