common for anyone who has had a recent throat infection... the throat is irritated to the point that when it's dry it has a tingling poking itch that makes you cough and gag. This will go away after the throat irritation is gone, but I've had it when I get a cold, or on dry mornings. Drinking water does not help because the dry irritation isn't resolved - usually coughing so much that the mucous builds up and your swallow will cover it - but that's hardly what anyone wants.
Exposure to allergens causes a runny nose with a resultant post nasal drip where secretions from the nose go backward into the throat and irritate causing cough. Cough is a protective mechanism by the body as it helps to prevent infections. You will need to consult your primary care physician for proper clinical assessment. In the meantime for relief from your symptoms you could do warm salt gargles and take OTC antihistamines.

During these times, I get a bad cough and early in the morning there is a little blood discharge when i cough to remove the sputum from my throat. It however does not recur in the day. However for the last few days I have been having an upset stomach, with the tendency to have loose stools on most occasion or an indigestion smell emanating from the stools.
I take a Metrogyl 400 in the morning to avoid visits to the rest room. Please advise.
Fever and cough with green sputum indicate an infection of the lower respiratory tract. You need antibiotics to tackle the infection. So, please consult your primary care physician at the earliest. In the meantime you could try warm salt water gargles, steam inhalation and take OTC Tylenol (acetaminophen) for the temperature.

Hi, I had a bacterial throat infection: including sore throat, fever, headache and body aches.....This was before x-mas, I was given Augmentin, which pretty much cleared it up, except my cough and congestion.... After x-mas The cough got worse and fevers, tongue ulcers and head and body aches came again, my Dr. said this time it's viral, so it would have run its coarse, it's been almost a month and still hasn't cleared up at all.
If not any stomach pain? I think of two things one is an infection if you had a productive cough or sore throat. THe other is perhaps it is bile from the gallbladder or a stomach ulcer something along those lines might fit since you have a lack of appetite as well and constipation. You may be backed up due to the constipation. I would see a GI doctor and have them give you an exam as well as perhaps some scans.
for 3 days i felt exhaused and slept a lot, the exhaustion seems to have passed but the coughing has not. my throat does not feel sore until i cough, and very little mucus is coming up. ive tried everything from neo citron, nyquit, robitusson, buckleys, halls, cepacl, teas, honey, all these have either no effect of very short relief.
is it possible i got some sort of infection? and should i wait longer or see a doctor now?
t feel the burning but stomach acid is still coming up and irritating your throat. This can lead to coughing. I get an annoying tickle and cough from reflux.
I really hope you can talk to a doctor about this, I'm just a community memeber trying to offer some advice, but if it is as bothersome as you indicate, it may be worth a doctor's visit.

Looks like your symptoms of sore throat and runny nose have progressed with resultant addition of cough and sputum. It could have started as a cold and progressed to a throat infection. This if left untreated could progress to tonsillitis. The commonest pathogen (agent) causing throat infections is a group A Streptococcus bacteria. Besides this Group B Streptococcus, mycoplasma, neisseria and cornybacterium are known to cause throat infections.
It could also be due to tonsillar enlargement. It could also be a fungal throat infection. The sore throat which you had may have contributed to it. In response to the infection the body produces soft white debris which collects in the tiny indentations in the tonsils called crypts. If your symptoms worsen consult your doctor for an evaluation. In the meantime take plenty of warm oral fluids and lots of rest.
Hi and sorry you are ill. Do you still have the sore throat? Do you have a high fever? Usually, with a strep throat you don't have a cough or other symptoms. So this sounds like a virus rather than a strep throat. So, when you went it to the doctor what were your symptoms to start with? If you only had pus in the throat and a sore throat with a fever you had strep throat. Then if they did a strep test and it was positive the antibiotics didn't help the sore throat?
Top left of throat permanently sore (poss vocal fold?) and throat generally is tickly but no infection there. Had chest infection which is now clear. Blue asthma inhaler caused coughing and laryngospasms so was stopped. Steroids helped the original chest problems but don’t help the “new” post-chest infection cough so were stopped. Been prescribed omeprazole twice a day, but again, no help.
I have been waking up every morning for a couple of months now with a sore throat and when I clear my throat there is some blood in my saliva. If I get up in the middle of the night it happens as well. In fact anytime I have been asleep and wake up there is some blood in my saliva. I know that I snore. My brother says he thinks it's a nasal infection but why would it last this long? I was laid off for two months and just recently started working again.
