Throat cancer growth rate

Common Questions and Answers about Throat cancer growth rate

throat

Avatar f tn In terms of the types of HPV that can cause throat cancer, does anyone know what the approximate clearance rate is in men? Most of the studies I've looked into just talk about the clearance rate over a relatively short period of time, such as 6 months or a year. But I'm wanting to know what percentage of men clear these types of HPV on their own at some point in their lives, whether it be 6 months, 5 years, 10 years, etc.
Avatar n tn I am 36 yo male. 2 months ago I noticed a small white growth (omg) in my throat and I went to 2 ENT's told me its a papilloma and I can choose to remove it or leave it be as treatment is not medically necessary. I chose to remove it because I couldn't stop looking at it and the biopsy confirmed its a squamous papilloma most often associated with HPV. Two days after having it surgically removed I went to a gynaecologist to do oral HPV PCR test to see which type I had.
454046 tn?1244565593 Follicular cells are thyroid cells - so that alone does not need removal. The symptoms and growth rate however make surgery appropriate. If by "follicular cells" they meant "follicular lesion" then it's about a 20% chance cancer. If not, then it is 5% - give or take...
166039 tn?1256422867 I recently sound a little hoarse and clearing my throat a lot. How fast does lung cancer develop? I am supposed to wait 4 months to get this nodule looked at but I am still not feeling like myself. Should I call my doc and demand something else be done? Someone also told me that non-calcified nodules are not good to have. Any advice because I am worrying myself sick!
Avatar f tn I noticed over the last few month I can click like my throat or soft pallet like between my throat and nasal passage Nothing hurts and I can go without doing it. But it because almost like a thing I keep doing hoping I can’t do it. It’s like I breathe in through my nose and can kind make a flop feeling I was okay with it and randomly now I think it’s some weird cancer.
Avatar f tn For roughly six months I have dealt with tonsil stones due to that,I am fairly aware of my tonsils. One day maybe 4 months ago,I noticed a a hard protrusion coming from my throat that was rubbing against my left Tonsil. It feels like bone at the base and hard cartilage at the top. It is slightly pointed. It is not painful and immovable at the base very slightly moveable at the top.
Avatar n tn i just noticed around 0.5-1cm wide lump on the outside of my throat,it is not visible and it can only be felt when i harden my neck,it seems pretty firm.the exact position is about two centimeter above my adams apple slightly on the right side.i am only 21,male...i have a history of moderate to occasional smoking and drinking sometimes and i have no history of cancer in my family....i cannot feel any lump on the inside of my throat when i swallow at all...
Avatar m tn Does this sound like anything to worry about? Obviously my biggest fear is some sort of head and neck cancer (I am a 21 year old male, never smoked a cigarette, barely drink alcohol, no history of oral cancer). I do have a plantar wart on my right foot, but I'm not sure if the HPV from that could spread to my throat. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Thanks!
Avatar n tn I have recently found that I have a lump on the right side of my throat. I do smoke regularly, and I am worried could this be cancer or something else?
Avatar f tn I have a growth on my bone to the left of my throat. It is the size of a ping pong ball. It does not hurt or move. I went to my doctor who sent me for an x-ray and the doctor said it was mild arthritis. I'm not sure this is an accurate diagnosis. I have no pain, etc. Can you help. Thank you.
694885 tn?1232649948 I am glade that the ultrasound at least shows that I am not crazy about these things growing so fast but the down side is that this fast growth may indicate the anaplastic cancer. So I just wanted to get an idea of what is considered normal, slow and fast growth just to prepare myself for that phone call. I can not find anything on the internet about this. The one article I did find would not let me read it unless I purchased it &*&*&*&*. Everything cost money!
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm a 48 year old breast cancer survivor, BRCA1 positive. I had three breast tumors and opted for bi lateral mastectomy. Chemo and radiation followed. After chemo, before radiation, I learned of my BRCA status. Tumor growth was very aggressive even though I had ER positive breast cancer. I chose to have a preventative full hysterectomy because of the BRCA status. My PCP performed a pap smear two months ago and I was told it showed LSIL, with no high risk HPV.
Avatar f tn My endocrinologist didn't call my thyroid growth a "goiter". She said the tissue looked different...no defined edges. Like many others here, she did a needle biopsy and it came back benign. Due to the size of the growth (on the right side, it has grown under the collar bone, turned, and is touching my lung) the fact that there is calcification and cysts on the left side, we agreed that I should have a total thyroidectomy.
Avatar n tn I came across in a magizine at work about this also being linked to throat cancer and have been pretty worried ever since. I would think if I had HPV 16 my husband would have too, and I have been performing oral sex on him for years 7/8 years hundrends of times. I feel like my case is a little different than others about this topic bc I had abnormal cells "down there" so wouldnt there be a good chance i have them in my throat as well being exposed to it many times?
Avatar n tn Would you anticipate that it would follow a similar growth rate as the mass in the right lobe - (it was first detected at about 1/2 a cm. 10 years ago and was examined with 3 prong FNA biopsy, found negative for cancer.) What are the odds I would not need thyroid medication if the left lobe was left? Finally do the two nodules seem from the ultra sound to be of different types?
Avatar n tn The only oral cancer known to be caused by HPV is of the back of the throat, and is almost never seen in people under 40 years old. Also, HPV of the throat, as well as cancer itself, is entirely painless. There is no chance that any of these symptoms, or your possibly inflamed lymph nodes, are due to HPV or cancer. If these symptoms continue, see your doctor. But don't be worried about anything serious or about oral HPV. I hope this has been helpful.
Avatar m tn If you are having severe throat issues, go see an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor who will put a tube up your nose and down your throat for a clear view of your throat.
Avatar m tn The cancer diagnoses was very recent (5 days ago). She is soon to be having a biopsy to determine the rate of growth of the cancer as well as the likely primary source. I am aware that being at a stage 4, this is a very advanced form of cancer, and it has already spread to the liver.
Avatar n tn They did a videostrobe of my throat last week. The doctor told me today I had throat cancer. My voice is gone. I had a left side carotid endarectomy 2 days before Christmas. All of my symptoms started after the surgery, like the day after, the sore throat was there when I woke up in ICU. I saw my family doctor, the surgeon who did the endarterectomy and an ENT locally, all said my symptoms were due to the endarterectomy. The first ENT I saw did a scope of my throat and said all was well.
