Hello, Has anyone heard about or taken the Oncalert Orarapid or Oramark test? It is a oral cancer (mouth and throat) saliva test that has been developed for early detection of Oral Cancer. I'm surprised there is no chatter about this test since one of the top HPV concerns right now is head and neck cancer. Currently, it is commercially available in most countries outside of the U.S. Has anyone taken the test, any thoughts, etc? https://www.prnewswire.

my mother thinks she has throat cancer...i think barretts....since she was little she would always have her stomach acid flow through her throat.....( idon't know if that makes sense, like when she is laying down it flows back into her throat) and so over the years, her throat has suffered from the acid...she also feels pain in her throat...her throat burns everytime she talks and swallows (occasionally). her voice has became rough/scratchy. she also feels a lump in her throat. help me....

I had nodules which turned out to be cancer (not to say you have cancer, most are benign)...the nodules can press on the recurrent laryngeal nerve that runs through the thyroid and can cause hoarseness. Go see a good Ear, Nose, Throat (Otolaryngologist) and have him/her check your neck.

hi i am 3o years old i have tronsils in my throat docter checked and tested for throat culture the test cam negative. then i gone through antibiatics . no changes . i am almost gone through 3 antibaitics. but still lymph nodes are swells often.i have small lump in side of my teeth wall.end lf the teeth wall it has the swelling nurves. if anyone knows this is teeth problem or mouth cancer syptoms.i am scared to death.please help me.

Anyway times have changed and now weve learnt that Michael Douglas had throat cancer from hpv and are a bit worried for ourselves. Can you explain his chances of developing this cancer and what we can do to be proactive about it, such as oral screenings. Thanks.

My father was diagnosed with throat cancer 3 and half months ago . There was a tumour found in his throat. He went through a surgery to remove the tumour . He had to remove his voice box and some muscle from his throat which was replace by his chest muscles . He had to breathe through a hole made in his chest. He got fed through a tube in his stomach. I know that I am at higher risk of developing hpv related throat cancer at some point as I have had an active sex life but am currently celibate. I am taking medication for the hpv related anxiety which only partially controls it but I still have panic attacks and don't get much sleep because of the worry. The thought that I am going to die in my 50s because of choices I have made is never off my mind.

I would say not to worry about oral hpv, the main reason being the high-risk strains those live on genital areas do not like the oral enviornment and they do not survive well in there... Further, the throat cancer due to hpv is extremely low to rare and hpv is not the major cause of throat cancer but it can be a causitive factor... the tobacco use is the major cause of throat cancer...

My brother has had throat cancer 15 months ago. However due to the extensive radiation treatments he had he now is having problems with his jaws. Shortly after the throat cancer he developed lung cancer and is being treated with chemo by an oncologist. His teeth are bothering him for the last 3 months and his teeth are falling out as well as pieces of his jaw coming off into his mouth. He is in a lot of pain despite the medications he is on.

It helped to calm my fears and he talks about the same article I read which states high strain hpv (not the kind causing warts but the kind causing cervical cancer) is now a big factor in the rise of throat cancer. My husband has/ had throat cancer. He went through kemo and radiation. He is going to tested Fri. to see if treatment worked. He still has very bad breath. Also 2 other spots have shown up too. He also has a large lump on his leg.

I went to see an ENT and he did a scope (went in through the nose and looked down at the throat), I had a CT of the throat, and an Ultrasound of my thryroid and a Upper GI Series (Barium Swallow). There was nothing he could see from the scoping, the CT came back negative, the Barium swallow showed mild to moderate acid reflux, and the ultrasound showed nodules (which the doc said was nothing to worry about). All in all everything that was done did not show any type of mass or obstruction.

I suggest you see an Ear nose and throat specialist. They will be able to take a look in your nasal area as well as in your throat. So suggest to your family doctor you would like to see your local specialist.

Hello I have been having some Throat Tightness, Its a feeling like a choking sensation, it doesn't bother me all of the time just every now and then. I am only 16 years old. Sometimes I have throat pain. I have had this a lot of my life, it comes and goes, sometimes it will stay away as long as a year or so, but somehow it manages to come back. Do you think that this could be some type of cancer of the throat? I did have a lot of sore throats when I was younger.

Throughout these long period, my doctors see no signs of symptom that can cause me throat cancer or whatever disease associated with the throat. Please let me know what you guys think, I have been seeking for medical help for a very long time with no outcome, even went for TCM which did not help my symptom as well.

when i was 12 my mother took me to the doctor about holes in the back of my throat and yucky smelling gunk popping out like pimples when pressure is applyed and he said it would go away with age ... im now 18 and i still have clumps of discusting stuff coming out of those holes. i have 3 holes, 2 on my right and 1 on my left and gunk comes out of all of them.. is this a cryptic tonsil and is there anything i can do to stop the gunk building up and coming out or even close the holes up?
