My boyfriend has just undergone chemotherapy and radiotherapy for head and neck cancer .... he has had tonsils removed, lymph glands removed and still has the sore throat when swallowing , a feeling s if there is something at the back of the throat . A few weeks ago he had a camera up the nose and down the throat and found to have a lesion on the vocal cord ...he's waiting to go have another biopsie on this , do you think this could be another case of cancer ?
Someone I know has throat cancer from HPV that was transmitted sexually. He has recently completed his chemotherapy and he is in good enough shape to do things like drive a car, prepare meals and even work part time.
He will be visiting and will most likely help prepare a family dinner.

I was just diagnosed with stage 1c ovarian cancer, had both ovaries, uterus, and omentum removed 5 weeks ago. But during my appoitment on Tuesday with the UNC oncologist I was told no chemotherapy. I am confused. Do I need it or not??????
Radiation treatment for breast cancer should begin 4 weeks after the completion of adjuvant systemic chemotherapy or 2 to 4 weeks after surgery. Radiation treatment is delivered daily for 5 days per week.

Hi. As far as I know, the usual chemotherapy drugs given in ovarian cancer are not administered by intramuscular, intradermal or subcutaneous abdominal injections. There is a type of hormonal treatment, called LHRH agonists (example: Zoladex) which can be given by abdominal injection. However, this kind of treatment is still under study for its effectiveness in treating ovarian cancer. It's not yet approved for general use outside clinical trials.
There are many available chemotherapy options for breast cancer. Cisplatin and Paclitaxel (Taxol) is just one of them. Chemotherapy has its side effects and no two patients are alike with regards to the side effects profile.
It would be best to discuss treatment options with your mother's oncologist. Best supportive care or palliative care is also an option.

My father was diagnosed with throat cancer 3 and half months ago . There was a tumour found in his throat. He went through a surgery to remove the tumour . He had to remove his voice box and some muscle from his throat which was replace by his chest muscles . He had to breathe through a hole made in his chest. He got fed through a tube in his stomach. After the surgery he was getting better and had to wait nearly 4 weeks for his radio and chemo therapy.

My wife 31 years old operated for OV cancer and Total removal of organs including pelvic / para aortic Lymphnodes is done and on histology the Tumour was Stage 1a / Grade 1 endometrioid adenocarcinoma with tumor reaching very close to capsule but capsule intact. All other biopsy are negative. Tumor weighed 270Gms and was found adherent to posterior peritonium.
He was more worried about my having HPV than him as the cancer it can cause in women. When he was diagnosed with lung cancer we dealt with that bravely too. I promised him I would try to take care of my HPV and have been trying to eat foods that are good for one's immune system. Before he passed, we shared many things and more love than one might have in 35 years, but he also told me the chemo cleared away the warts ... and thus the virus(?).
My mother, was diagnosed ovarian cancer stage 4 in January 2008. She went through chimiotherapy (6 sessions) and the tumor disappeared. After the 4th session she had surgery to remove the affected area and everything went very well to the point all doctors felt she had done amazing progress and was cured. Two weeks ago (five months later) the cancer has resurfaced and she had to undergo surgery for an intestinal bypass. Doctors are now recommending to begin chimiotherapy again right away.
Only when the initial breast cancer spread did I lose weight, quite a bit, and kept losing with more chemotherapy then. This has stopped though now but I also did not regain the weight.
There is clear information that interval surgery is best done after just a few chemotherapy treatments. the survival from ovarian cancer drops if more chemotherapy is given before surgery.
