Avatar f tn Hello and welcome to the forum. I'm glad you've seen your doctor and that they've been treating you. If they suspected throat cancer, I am sure they'd do the necessary tests to check on that diagnosis. Here is a link to information on throat cancer including the symptoms that people typically suffer. https://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar f tn hi, I'm 15 years old and I've only smoked 5 small cigars in my life. after my last one I've been feeling a feeling In my throat. I don't know if it's because I am upsessing about having mouth cancer but the point is I also got a dry throat the next day...but for 5 cigars can not being inhaled can it cause mouth cancer?
331673 tn?1199354285 I was given a choice to either quit smoking and hope that we were early enough to have caught it, and hope that my throat repairs itself, or end up with throat cancer and all that goes with it. I quit smoking. My following check ups have been all good. I am LUCKY, because I didnt wait, I have lost to many friends and family to cancer, (on my husbands side even non smokers). So please dont wait, get to a Doctor. I may not be here today if I didnt Jump to it.

Avatar n tn I quit at the age of 43. I have had a deep husky voice for many years now, probably due to smoking and having GERD really bad in the past.I have noticed on/off for several years that I get a sharp buzzing pain on the left side of my head in the throat area. It happens once in a great while where I will be fine one minute and then all of a sudden I get this sharp buzzing pain, then after a few seconds it goes away.
Avatar f tn I have been smoking only for 4 years. The average was 10 cigs a day. I am really scared. How common is throat cancer in young adults?
Avatar m tn i have had this sore throat for several months. i can recall first having it when i started smoking and drinking heavily about 7 months ago. since then it's been on and off and sometimes accompanied with mouth sores, fever, neck and ear pains and loss of appetite. my doctor put me on some antibiotics, amozicilin and peniciline at different times and gave me medication for the fever. while the mouths sores and neck pains resolved, the sore throat, ear pains and the fever remains.
Avatar m tn m male 21 and a month a ago or so i have had this pain inside my neck at first i thought it was due to maybe a cold i had gotten better of but the cold and also diagnosed with bronchitis in the lungs is now long gone and i still continue to have pain in my throat lately i have notice recently i have to consistently clear my throat and notice wheezing and coughing but only a few times though put the day and sometimes i feel my voice change.
Avatar f tn i do have a kinda inflamed throat with redness and alot of small bumps been for a long time my doctor told me that its because of smoking but iam afraid because in my country they do not take STD into consideration unless i ask for it and there is a huge stigma here.

Avatar m tn Hi, i'm 29. I have been a smoker for 7yrs, I recently have felt constriction after smoking cigarettes. I decided it was best to quit smoking. I haven't smoked in over 2 weeks, however now I feel a different feeling in my throat pressure against my throat (choking) type. I also noticed redness on my soft palette with a single white spot in the center. I visited a family Dr, he tested for strep, it was negative. He believes it could be viral my temp was 99.
573038 tn?1235394545 First off stop smoking! It's a horrible habit and you can get really sick from smoking. My grandma is dying of lung cancer because of smoking. You need to have your lungs check out, I'm suprised they didn't already. Have they checked your throat to make sure its not throat cancer? My grandma had that same lump feeling in her throat and it ended up being throat cancer. I'm not saying you have cancer, but please get all these things checked out.
Avatar m tn Whereas in the past, the “face” of head and neck cancer was a man in his 60s with a history of heavy smoking and alcohol consumption, the men diagnosed with HPV oropharyngeal cancer do not smoke heavily and may still be in their 50s or younger, although older men are also affected. Dr. Wirth explains that HPV cancers show a specific pattern as to where they arise.
Avatar m tn You should definitely go to your primary care physician to get it checked out. Its possible it may be cancer, especially if you have any high risks such as smoking, drinking alcohol, family history, etc.
Avatar n tn luckily we caught it early and within a two months of diagnosis i am now cancer free. ask your dentist for an oral cancer mouth exam every time you get your teeth cleaned. if you have any doubts get it checkout. and try and quit smoking...it's for your best interest.
Avatar f tn There are about 100 strains of HPV and only a very few cause cancer and warts and neither do both. As always it is best to just go and get tested when in doubt. On the bright side many strains of HPV can be flushed from the body in months to a couple of years. I'm sure with life style changes (eating healthier, regular exercise, quit smoking, cut back on drinking, etc.) this process can be accelerated. Best of luck to you. Keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Lymphoid hypertrophy may be seen in the throat. Throat cancer or lymphoma are rare at your age and cancer will get progressively worse. I would also like to rule out stress induced tightness in throat, especially since you are worried about cancer as a cause of your symptoms. Some other possible causes for your symptoms could be: 1. Allergy or Intolerance to beer / food and their ingredients 2. Occupational exposure to wood dust, moulds, fungi and chemicals. 3.
Avatar f tn That was my original thought. I would quit the vicodin and then quit the cigarettes. But when I woke up this morning I realized that I didn't have a single cigarette and I didn't feel like having one. I have done this before and then tried smoking and it tasted nasty but I did it anyway and ended up being a full time smoker again. This time I know I have the will power not to touch them.
Avatar n tn I am embarrased to say that I do smoke - not much - only three of four a day. I am wondering if you think this sounds like throat cancer and larynx cancer or something?? I am actually scared to go to the doctor. I have no other health ailments except this darn thing I can't shake off.
Avatar m tn How much is a chest x-ray? in cash without med...etc? and is marijuana smoking healthier than tobacco smoking?
Avatar m tn last week I had the endoscopy done and they took samples (biopsies) and the results came back positive for cancer of the esophagus. 2 days ago I had to go in and have a CT Scan done and they are awaiting for those results to see if it has spread any where else in my body. I have a feeling once the results are in, probably early next week, I'll be called in for surgery within a week maybe 2. Since I received this bad news, I've been reflecting as to why me?, why do I have cancer.
Avatar m tn These can still cause cancer and other health problems such as mouth, tongue, and throat cancer; cancer in the esophagus; increased risk of heart disease, heart attacks, and stroke; addiction to nicotine; leukoplakia; receding gums; bone loss around the roots of the teeth; tooth loss; stained teeth and even bad breath. It is important that you weigh all the pros and cons. It is best that you discuss the best option for smoking cessation suited for you with your doctor.
Avatar m tn Dear All, I am suffering from mild sore throat ( ON and OFF) for last 1 month. No cough but some times irritation throat and most of the time one of the nasal is blocked. Visited ENT specialist and after checking he confirmed suffering from " PHARYNGITIS" He had given anti-biotics for 5 days and assured recovery after that. After 5 days my problem has almost gone away but still very mild irritation and sore throat is there.
Avatar f tn Maybe it can be the beginning of throat cancer, I will suggest you to visit your nearby oncologist and get all the tests related to it and be on a safer side and I'll advise you to quit smoking.
Avatar f tn I have been reading that HPV is linked to throat cancer, so i am EXTREMELY worried and anxious!! I am going to the doctor next week. My questions are.... 1. My GYN told me I was now immune to the strain of HPV i have, even though I may be immune could i still get warts? 2. I thought low risk strains caused warts and high risk strains caused cancer. I had both warts and dysplasia....Is there a strain that can cause both? or do i have 2 strains? 3.
Avatar f tn Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks and spicy food. Get a complete ENT and dental check up before you think of cancer as the cause— less likely as the lymph nodes swell and subside too. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do discuss with your doctor. Take care!
