Throat and windpipe

Common Questions and Answers about Throat and windpipe

throat

It feels as if I can't breath, and I have to wait for a few minutes and try to get by on small amounts of air entering until the windpipe slowly expands and I can take larger and larger breaths, and then, withing a few minutes, complete breaths. The feeling is quite scary. Any suggestions on what causes it? Is it common? Any cures or fixes? Thank you.
its hard to tell what it is because the tissue in my mouth is so different. Can it also spread to my throat and asophogus or windpipe and lungs?
I will update shortly! Thank you, this is complete discomfort.
I still have the feeling like there's a lump in the back of my throat when I swallow, and when I breath I can feel it near my windpipe. I haven't had any trouble breathing yet so I'm okay. But it's frustrating because it bothers me. Is there anything I can do for myself to calm myself down until I see the ENT doctor? I try to calm myself but I just get too worried about what's going on. Luckily I live with my parents. I am a 31 male. Please email me back with any suggestions.
It began in 2011 and reoccurs every 6 moths so far.
Hello my sister wants me to ask a question for her since I was on this board allready. She has this irritated feeling in her windpipe around where the shoulder bones meet the throat area and this irritated feeling makes her cough alot and in the mornings she coughs up this thick yellow mucus alot. No blood in it though. her cough happens when she breaths in because the air going in is that irritates her windpipe the most.
Would a standard throat swab (taken 7 weeks after exposure) from a GUM clinic detect Pharyngeal Gonorrhea or even HPV or Camydia etc in the Windpipe/Laryanx area ? as the throat swab does NOT reach that far down there when its taken ?

(thats where my soreness and tightness has been for 6 weeks after fingering and placing my fingers directly in my mouth and French kissing a Prostitute) And what if any is my risk of catching anything after the exposure described ?
In gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), gastric acid may back up from esophagus into the windpipe and throat. Burning stomach, chest (behind the breastbone), and throat, and coughing up white, thick, often frothy mucus are main symptoms. Often, white mucus is the only symptom in GERD.
I have read that this can cause coughing based on its position (pressing on the windpipe, etc.). I also found out that my uvula is elongated and constantly touches the back of my tongue. My ENT feels this could be the cause of my coughing. An elongated or enlarged uvula is common in people with sleep apnea. Just some things to think about. It could be a combination of causes, but I would definitely recommend your husband see an ENT if he has not already done so.
Steve, I had this very symptom and didnt eat for a week, felt as something was stuck in my throat. I went to the ear nose and throat Dr. and he ran a scope to see if something was wronge.Needless to say I just walked out with a script for XANAX. Nothing more than my anxiety. It can cause all kinds of symptoms. But I agree with Remar you need to get checked out ! Better safe than sorry :-) Hope you feel better really soon!!!! Keep us updated!
I don't seem out of breath from the wheezing and it seems to stop if I clear my throat. Is it possible to just have wheezing from on drip and in throat and not have it be asthma? I am very concerned about all this. I will be starting allergy drops this week .
Even with the above mentioned measures, I produce quite a bit of phlegm, PND, I clear my throat constantly, and I have some throat pain (not like a sore throat, though.) What can I do to make this go away? Would Mucinex or antihistimes help?
I wonder if the constant sore throat might be caused by GERD [gastro reflux]. GERD often occurs with heartburn, but not always. A gastroenterologist could diagnose. See: http://www.aboutgerd.org/gerdother.html What Else can we Attribute to GERD? "Sore Throat, Cough Awakening with a sore throat and cough is not always a harbinger of the common cold. Nocturnal reflux, especially after late-night food or alcohol intake, may reach the throat without awakening the individual.
Hi, I have had wheezing in my throat for about a week and a half now. I had a left lymph node dissection two weeks ago, with general anesthesia. I originally thought the wheezing was in my chest. Last week I had a chest x-ray and a neck and chest cat-scan which didn't show any lung involvement. My husband heard the "gurgling" sound while I slept and I can now tell that the sound is coming from my throat.
I woke up one morning with a sore throat and went to my doctor, she told me my tonsils were swollen, but not infected, and to take some advil. I did this, and continued with life. The swelling went away, and I developed a shallow, dry cough which persisted for a month. I woke up again about a month later with a sore throat, again, and so I went to another doctor, who diagnosed it as a Mycoplasma Pneumoniae infection of the trachea and windpipe. He prescribed me Azithromicyn, 3 day 500mg pills.
It feels like the lining of my throat is overly sensitive to dust or any tiny particle that lands on it. It feels like my windpipe and throat just tightens and closes up. It doesn't seem to be helped very much by drinking liquid - in fact sometimes drops of the liquid seem to go down the wrong way and make the problem worse. So for the past 2 weeks i have had this dull ache in the bottom right of my throat area, kinda halfway down my neck just to ther right of windpipe area. Also with it come a slight headache and tiny bit of earache kinda in the right side of my head, also little in the back bottom right of head .It does not hurt to swallow or anything like that and no coughing or anything either,or any other symptoms, just those that i said.
Also it feels difficult to swallow and eating often makes me feel like I'm about to choke or that food is sticking in my throat/windpipe. I have to clear my throat constantly even though nothing comes up and out (but I do feel something loosening, clearing). In the morning when I first get up a deep breath will trigger a subtle wheeze straight down toward my stomach but if I clear my throat it goes away, no wheezing during the day or in my lungs.
VCD attacks, cough, voice problems, asthma, globus (feeling of lump in throat), constant need to clear throat, worsening of sinus condition, sore throat, pre-cancerous conditions of throat &/or esophagus, etc. SOME GER/LPR CONTROL THINGS WE DO, that we learned from the excellent book: STOMACH AILMENTS AND DIGESTIVE DISTURBANCES, by Michael T. Murray, N.D. See page 9, References, in my website: http://cantbreathesuspectvcd.com and, also see GER/LPR info on page 5, and on LINKS page.
Symptoms are coughing, wheezing as unable to breathe, also his windpipe feels tight and lungs feel bloated. Doesn't seem to happen any other time of the day and I've tried changing washing powders of the bedding etc incase that is causing it but to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas as to what it might be please? Drs have given him penicillin and antibiotics but nothing seems to work.
There is no pain associated with the feeling, and no sore throat or sores in my mouth, only a feeling like someone has their fingers pressed up against my windpipe. I swallow often because of it; it is like my body keeps trying to "get it down" somehow, but can't. To me the saliva feels sticky and thick going down, but when I intentionally cough and spit to have a look at it, it is normal in appearance and not mucus-like or discolored.

I have been diagnosed with gerd and for the past month I feel like my food gets caught at the base of my throat and stay there for 48 hrs then it seems normal again,I take protonix daily for heatburn and has been fine with that but its a very uncomfortable feeling, anyone else experience similar symptoms?
He said it could be allergies, or from me coughing/sneezing too hard sometime last week that could have irritated my throat/windpipe area... and he said anxiety can do this too... But he told me "IT'S ONE OF THOSE 2 THINGS CHRIS... NOTHING ELSE IM SURE" lol. Because he KNOWS I was freakin out thinking it was the WORST. lol. He said you can have symptoms of anxiety without feeling anxious too. I've never experienced that before.
or lump in my throat but I have no feeling of acid reflud and avoid fatty foods. I have been on Nexium for two months and the lump is still there more than ever. It is not very noticeable when I wake up in the morning but its becomes more noticeable and annoying as the day goes on. I have this every day now whereas before it used to come and go. It does not interfere with my swallowing but sometimes it feels so large that its strangling me.

I have to accept that i will probaly have a sore throat, ear ache, tinitus, tmj,etc on the right side of my throat and face and will learn to manage it like the rest of my fibromyalgia pain. I am getting referred to a speach therapist, apart from that i am not sure where to go from here or how to manage this problem, but i know i have to or let this problem win. good luck lynn.
I've been taking one pill a day for over a year with no issues at all and the phlem is gone in my lungs and throat. I ran out about a week ago and it all came back so it was definitely working. I highly recommend it. I get it from the website SwansonVitamins.com. Search their site for NAC. They have it cheap compared to Vitamin World and GNC. One a day fixed me!
