Burning stomach, chest (behind the breastbone), and throat, and coughing up white, thick, often frothy mucus are main symptoms. Often, white mucus is the only symptom in GERD.

I've been suffering from irritation in the right side of my upper chest and throat for 9 months. Also I have a blocked right side of my nose but I don't really sneeze or have a runny nose. If I exercise or laugh too hard it really brings on the symptoms. It came on through smoking too much I think, but I gave up 8 months ago and I'm only 24. I've had clear X-rays, pulmonary function tests and sputum culture.
For over 2 weeks, I have been experiencing a persistent cough that is accompanied with sinus drainage, phlegm, an occasional scrathy throat, and heaviness in my chest. What are these symptons of? I am female, 55, non-smoker, and in good health otherwise.
After my 1st month of TB medication, I began to experience irritation and discomfort in my throat especially on my chest. I thought this could due to side effect of the TB medication but the TB Doctor did not agree with me. I have consulted another doctor and he said that the TB medicines will kill some of the nerves and this takes a while to recover. Appreciate advise from Experts or anybody who had suffered the same illness.
So, here is why I am writing this. I still have that sore throat but in my chest feeling and now my tongue feels swollen and my throat as well (So much so that I'm starting to snore at night-which my husband finds amusing), my whole torso just feels achey, when I wake up most mornings both sides just below my ribs in the back are ackey. Allergies?? Nothing?? Please point me in the right direction.
I also have experienced pressure in my lower throat area. Sometimes it feels tight and is hard to swallow. I am not sure if the two are related? Maybe the sound is from my throat? Or both are a result of my heart?
I have also consulted chest physician who conducted Lung Function Test and diagonized the problem as Acute Bronchitis and prescribed some inhaling medicine with two puffs daily. I have used the medicine for more than two months now but there is no improvement in the situation. Am I heading for chronic Asthma ? Can some body with similar experience help me out of this. Are there any other alternative and effective treatment available.

You should see your doctor who, after gathering information from you about the details of the pain and after physical exam of your chest, heart and lungs and a chest X-ray, will probably have a pretty good idea about the cause. If not, further testing may be necessary.

All scans, including 9/08, have been ok. I'd like your comments about throat GERD and symptoms limited to the right throat and chest. Endoscope seems very reliable, is there any reason to question the results? Any advice on the need for further testing. The tx now is just 40 mg of prilosec daily. Any help is appreciated.
Tell your family that the best way for them to get you to stop the annoying behavior would be for them to take you to the doctor to see what is causing the problem, because the irritation is coming from whatever is going on with your throat, and it's clearly not your fault.
I have had irritation and tickling in my throat for about 3 weeks now. At first it felt like a hair in my throat. I went to see my doctor and she said it was allergies. She put me on Astepro. I used it for about a week. It started to effect my tongue. My taste buds in the back of my tongue enlarged for some reason, so I stopped. The taste buds seem to be fine now. Now my throat mainly in the afternoon, feel dry and tight. Could this simply be allergies.
Postnasal drip can cause breathing difficulty as a result of irritation of the throat and lungs. You may experience the postnasal drip as a constant feeling of mucus at the back of your throat. Typically this is worse at night when you lay down to sleep. Generally this irritation feels the worst when you wake up and gets better as the day goes on. The mucus may "sit" there, especially when it is thick. The fat content in dairy products can thicken mucus.
sounds like heartburn or esphogus irritation/ could be hiatal hernia or beginnings of an ulcer/ see a doctor
I can only describe it as difficulty swallowing, tightness in the throat and constant irritation. When looking at my throat you could only see redness. I save a doctor about it 4 months ago and he swabbed for 'bugs', which was negative. He game me a script for antibiotics that treat skin infections, but it didn’t make a difference. I saw my doctor again and he swabbed for more STD’s. They all returned negative.
Felt like a lump in throat, but painful and seemed to be related to the increased pressure and pain I've had in neck. Difficulty breathing temporarily. Almost called ambulance. Subsided. I have not had surgery, so coudl this be a pressed nerve?! Help.
I get it for about four days and then it goes away. My throat gets really sore and makes me unable to swallow and is causing me to create lots of flem and even causes chest infections. I have been to the doctor about it and the first time he said it was Tonsillitis and gave me Penicillin. The second time it was identical and I was diagnosed with a chest infection. Whenever I get it I feel really weak and sleep for hours and hours.
I have used Nioxin 2 times the first caused tingling and slight redness with itching all over my body (chest neck back and legs) I didnt put two and two together, and used it again this morning. Within minutes I had a horrible burning rash on the left side of my face and it spread to my eyelids ears neck back and chest. I had to take a hefty dose of Benadryl to stop the reaction.
This will lead to leakage of stomach contents (acid, bile, and semi-digested food) into the esophagus, causing heartburn, chest pain and esophagitis. The acid may reach the throat, leading to reflux laryngitis and hoarseness, chronic mostly one-sided sore throat and chronic dry cough. The refluxed acid may enter the windpipe specially when sleeping at night and lead to asthma, recurrent pneumonitis, or chronic lung disease and fibrosis as a result of inflammation of the lungs from aspiration.
If your mucus is discoloured like dark yellow to dark green and you get it by coughing then you have a bad infection in your chest. The pain is probably due to the coughing and the irritation of the infection and inflammation. If the mucus feels like its coming from the base of your chest then it suggests that the infection is quiet low down your respiratory tract.
In the past, if my chest begins to feel this way, it is followed by the painful cough and coughing stuff up. I would not call what I have sometimes as pain, it feels more like irritation. When I am active, as well as when I drink a lot of water, it seems to be much better. Sit in front of the tv and the next thing I know I have a glob sitting in my throat. Any information would be grately appreciated.
The other day I was driving and the same thing happened again - tightening or flutter midchest and throat and the fading feeling like i am going to pass out but cough and don't- my stomach had been upset for days prior AND i was on my period(the last episode happend right after my period ended). I am 42 and have been having irregular, missed or 2 periods a month then 3 without, occasional nightsweats- I attribute all of this to hormones and peri.
And I woke up this morning with chest pains (I cant take in deep breaths and it feels like something is crushing my chest) and nausea (I puked up some foam and a bit of blood). I don't know if these things have anything to do with each other. Also I take Yasmin which I have not heard great things about. Can someone help??
I originally thought the wheezing was in my chest. Last week I had a chest x-ray and a neck and chest cat-scan which didn't show any lung involvement. My husband heard the "gurgling" sound while I slept and I can now tell that the sound is coming from my throat. I had my surgery two weeks ago, I also have a lump above my incision and when I swallow it feels like I have a lump in my throat. I emailed a picture of the lump to my surgeon and he didn't seem concerned.
14 days after having oral protected insertive sex accompanied by fingering (albeit with a small cut which was not bleeding but i believe scabbed) i developed the rash shown in the attached photos. the rash is mainly in the chest and back areas. i had been out doing some water sports wearing a rush (polyster) vest earlier in the day). is it possible that this is ARS/HIV rash? or is it heat rash?
