It showed pneumonia in the bottom of both lungs.. I took cipiro for 2 weeks...Felt better now Im coughing bad and coughing up yellow phelghm. New xrays showed nothing.Whats going on? And what kind of pneumiona lives in the bottom of the lungs?

Sleeping then was hard, but I was able to take my meds, settle down, sleep for about two hours, wake up again from coughing and repeat. Now the coughin is much more dry as another week has passed, the nose has basically stopped and the breathing is better. However, now I can not sleep. Almost not at all. Every time I am about to sleep I cough and the cycle repeats. I have gotten no more than about 4-5 hours of sleep a night since I started being sick.
I was diagnosed with pneumonia 6 weeks ago. I was on oral antibiotics for 2 days, then admitted with an IV drip for 3 days (levifloxacin, as I'm allergic to penicillin-based drugs) then given a 5 day course of oral clarithromyacin. I rested for 2 more weeks after finishing the antibiotics but was still coughing yellow mucus and feeling tired with moderate/mild activity.
s aunt recently got hospitalized due to pneumonia, and my girlfriend has been taking care of her for about 3 days now. Now this may sound stupid and selfish, but my concern is her and me catching pneumonia too. I'll be seeing my girlfriend tomorrow and probably spend the night with her, but I'm worried that I might catch pneumonia too through her.
Questions:
Is it possible that she is already infected as early as now?
My chest x ray is normal but the doctor could not do a pft because of my continuous cough at that time. My blood work for pneumonia diabetes and cholesterol are all good. sinus CT scan is normal too. Is this viral is it okay to take several months for cough to go away. I have no wheezing or asthma history. could this be lung infection? Please help.

Just wondering how your cat is feeling today. When an animal or human has a tube inserted during surgery it's quite common to have some irritation in the throat for awhile. I remember coughing for a couple days after my surgery this year. Perhaps it's just a matter of a sore throat from the tube.

t say for sure that the pneumonia was in my right lung BUT the painful spot that the previous doc identified that made him concerned was on the right and this doctor only listened to my left lung.

Just coughing is not mean you would get pneumonia. When did the cough start? There is also an incubation period if you had viral pneumonia (the kind you catch). Bacterial pneumonia (the more dangerous one) you get as an infection after being sick before hand with a virus like a cold. It's a secondary infection to that.

Coughing for 3 months initially brought on by walking pneumonia. Dr says it is asthma related and gives us inhalers that don't seem to work. The odd thing is, he does not cough when laying down. Another Dr told us there is no way it's asthma because it would get worse laying down. Missed 2 months of school last winter and 3 months this winter. Looking for answers or suggestions.

Pneumonia is funky and doesn't always follow the classic path. My younger son had pneumonia and I had no idea because he wasn't coughing. He had fevers. On and off fevers. ive been on hep C treatment, 1 big pill a day, for 28 days so far. I am coughing up a lot of mucus, it looks like intense healthy mucus, mostly in 2 different shapes. a flat rectangle and the crescent moon. I put a few drops of iodine w/ a little water and the crescent shape separated into 3 small oblong shapes. the rectangle one, when put up to the light, had multiple shapes in it. one shape was similar to a 'h', and the others small crescent shapes.
My Mom is 72 she was coughing up blood and Blowing out her nose.
