Avatar m tn The amount of weight used should be increased in no more than one-pound increments. The individual bends the uninvolved leg by raising the knee and keeping the foot flat on a flat surface. This will help decrease or avoid unwanted strain on the lower back region.
Avatar f tn In the end, the strength would never be back to normal. Fortunately, there are other muscles in the foot that help the foot when walking. I would recommend orthotics for stability and a brace to help support the alternate foot while the tendons heel.
Avatar f tn s very possible is that you have real physiological problems that have been made worse because your brain is focusing more on them because of the anxiety, or that the stress of the anxiety pushed you into overdoing things, or sleeplessness has made you weaker, etc., but the underlying problems are real. Everyone has problems because the human body is very weak and poorly structured -- the walking upright thing that puts great stress on the back.
1207048 tn?1282174304 stinging was really bad. On monday the foot muscles started hurting. The muscle under the arch has been sore for about a month, ever since I had a really bad (but luckily short lasting!) cramp. Since then that muscle has been sore and feels like one wrong move will cause it to cramp up again. On Monday the muscle along the top outside of my foot, the one that runs from the ankle to the baby toe, started hurting.

Avatar m tn Just want to know how many minutes the hiv virus stays alive outside a human being. Cos I went to see a watch doctor and we had a few jokes. After about 2-3 miuntes we argued and he jokingly pricked me with one of his work tools that had pointed mouth and like that of a needle, although there was no blood on the metal, neither did blood come out from my hand but it hurt like mad. If the same pin had pricked into his bloodstream before that incident Could I get infected if he's positive?

9162452 tn?1423620819 Update. It's now been a full year since the wreck. The wide opening in his leg has healed and is narrowing slowly. His bone is almost 100% healed, but not quite yet. His screws have been removed, which gave him instant relief, because one was gouging into the inside of his knee, causing much pain when he bent his knee or tried to walk. He is beginning to get sensations back in his feet. His toes can now stand to be touched when, before, a feather lite touch would fill him with horrible pain.
Avatar n tn Thank you for reponding. I am a 53 year old woman. I have had a nerve conduction study with nothing showing up and also a lumbar x-ray which which showed nothing remarkable except for mild narrowing at L4-5.
Avatar f tn This is why sciatic pain is often felt in many areas -- the lower back, the buttocks and groin, the back of the leg, and the knee. However, the condition known as sciatica is generally caused by inflammation at the origin of this nerve -- along the lumbar spine. This ice and other anti-inflammatory remedies usually work best when applied along side of the lumbar spine where pain is felt, above the erector s. and quadratus l. muscles, above the hip bone.
Avatar f tn balancing exercises have helped me a lot! But now with the dropped foot I feel like the walking has gotten much worse. I just got fitted for a walk aide. I have been using it for 2 days now and it appears to be helping me a lot. My gait is still awkward but I am able to walk much longer without tiring. I am truly hoping it will continue to improve.
Avatar m tn For feet, you want to feel for tight muscles in the feet and calves. Contrary to the very old school of thought, the harder you massage and push with your thumbs or a golf ball, the more positive effect it will have. Brain fog can be cause by many things, and it is one of the symptoms of hypothyroid also. Certain food allergies, intolerance's can also cause this in certain people. When your stomach doesn't feel so good, your whole body is experiencing a toxic effect.
Avatar f tn Hello and Welcome to the Pain Mangement Forum. I am glad that you found us but sorry to hear about your foot pain and limitations. You are young. Younger bones tend to heal more quickly and completely. I too wonder if your physician ordered and you completed physical therapy? How long ago was the fracture? If it was fairly recent it is not too late for additional physical therapy. Actually it's rarely if ever too late.
Avatar f tn I get this weird sensantion in the soles of my feet...almost like the floor is vibrating directly under each foot. Has anyone experienced this before?

Avatar f tn Last night, i was wishing that someone would print out a checklist and the Drs would mark off the things that are your symptoms. So many things have gone on for such a long time, and when for whatever reason it comes up in discussion.....find myself shocked that what I think is 'normal' is not normal for other people, without MS. Seems when I go to Drs with a list of questions that weird symptoms always fall in to the "could be" MS. column.
Avatar m tn My wife has MS and recently contracted hand foot and mouth. How do they interact? What treatment should she seek?
338416 tn?1420045702 Thanks, guys! I see her on Wednesday for the actual therapy, so we'll see how it goes. I was relieved to hear that the PT had the same goals as I did - improvement of my balance issues, and doing something about my weak right knee.

Avatar n tn Verrucas are Warts that appear on the foot, that much I know. The scientific name for the virus is the Human Papilloma Virus which I think comes in about 60 varieties affecting the vaginal, oral and other areas and that it can take several months, since infection, for the verruca to develop, with no visible signs. She might well have an infection and not know about it; because it can take anything up to 20 months to develop.
775302 tn?1253100505 Peggie, your foot has many small bones, joints, muscles and ligaments, any one of which could be causing pain. It's best to go to an orthopedic surgeon to who specializes in feed in order to get x-rays and a proper diagnosis.
Avatar f tn I just recently experienced a new kind of nerve pain that effected both quadriceps muscles, there was muscle twitching and the muscles felt heavy like bricks, very fatigued and sometimes I felt burning sensations, and a constant tingly, pins and needly sensation, but it did not hurt, it was just extremely uncomfortable. Anyways, I'm just wondering because I have some unexplained "injuries" that could be the result of nerves.
Avatar f tn this helps but my teacher said the strongest muscle in the human body was the gluteous maximus. I argued the fact that the heart was. Secondly i figured the jaw muscle and the tongue. Your reply was much help to me.
405614 tn?1329144114 Kathy, I don't have any ideas about the foot flop because I experience the foot drop variety but the shoe store sounds wonderful. What a great idea to custom fit feet and walking style to the shoe. Your neuro may have noticed but dismissed it as not necessary to deal with right now?
Avatar f tn foot dragging, and speech problems due to involvement of the facial muscles. The disorder usually begins in the legs, but it may also start in the tongue or the hands. The disease-which scientists believe is not hereditary-progresses gradually over a number of years, or even decades. In PLS, there is no evidence of the degeneration of spinal motor neurons or muscle wasting (amyotrophy) that occurs in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), which it resembles.
