diabetes

Avatar f tn t have personal experience with this one, but I work in health care. Is there a diabetes education clinic or group in your area? They can be very helpful in helping you control your sugar levels. Some women can control it with food but not all. That all depends on your results. Your Dr will give you guidance as far as if you need insulin or another medication. But it will be alright, you have a diagnoses and this is something that is treatable. Take care.

Avatar f tn With that in mind, here are a few beginning and super basic OCD articles that anyone can start with and learn about the disorder. There are several experts in the United States that I trust and recommend. First of all is Dr. Fred Penzel, and he has written an amazing book, "Obsessive Compulsive Disorders: A Complete Guide to Getting Well and Staying Well" that I HIGHLY recommend reading. Secondly, Dr.
5536886 tn?1455827346 I just heard about a program offered in a local hospital that is for the education of diabetes prevention- it looked really awesome! I'm thinking about checking it out further to see what information they have- do you have a program like this in your area? Have you checked it out and gotten any new information? Was it helpful for you?
Avatar f tn My HMO has a nutritionist who never returned my calls; she even ignored the e-mails from the diabetes education nurse urging her to get in touch with me. If anyone has a daily menu plan for diabetics seeking to lose weight, please let me know. Thank you.
Avatar m tn Best thing a person can do when told they are Diabetic is to contact the local Hospital or Health Department and get signed up for their Diabetes Education class. I learned So much from those classes and they gave me the books to bring home with me. I also read a lot about it online too http://www.diabetes.com/ http://diabetes.niddk.nih.gov/intro/index.htm http://www.diabetes.org/type-2-diabetes.jsp http://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know if this has anything to do with diabetes?
Avatar n tn When I went back to school everyone had questions for me and I was always different. I was very involved with the American Diabetes Association and attended the diabetes youth congress one year and a summer camp for diabetics until I was too old to go (16). I worked with other young diabetics to start a teen support group in my area if just to meet up once a month and go out with other people that understanded what I was going through as well.
Avatar f tn I have Stage3 chronic kidney disease and know the liver is working harder but because of this new diagnosis was wondering if there’s a connection. I don’t have diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol.
Avatar n tn Dear Paralegal, i am not aware of any insurance systems that one can change to that will cover diabetic supplies unless you become diabetic while on the insurance as after that most insurance plans i'm aware of will not treat a pre-existing condition. The only area i'm aware of that may have the information you desire is the American Diabetes Association.
4352703 tn?1353257437 Hello all!! I'm new to the group and would like to know how to find the list of Chiari specialist that you have. I have been having a rough time since I was taken out of work last July (2011) and my world has been turned upside down ever since. Started out being treated for myofacial pain syndrome, then diagnosed by family dr with fibromyalgia, then found out I had type 2 diabetes, next was periphial neuropathy, confirmed fibro by rheumatologist, then chiari malformation type 1!!!
Avatar n tn oh and they send you to a dietintion and adult diabetes education center to teach you what to eat and how to test.
Avatar f tn Kids with special needs are generally in our classrooms but taken out for various services or classwork they do independently of the group. Some schools have the old special needs classroom but this practice is less popular these days. So, I don't know if this answers your question----- if I can help in any way, I will try.
Avatar m tn Nothing really new in this little study ,other than the importance for understanding and compassion ,combined with the need for education by the health care community, patients and the public alike about HCV. The stigmatising is still the greatest barrier.. .http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar f tn CEP noted that even though most of that research has been funded by the for-profit education industry, it fails to make a convincing case for the superiority of privatized education. If kids are not benefiting, who is? “Cashing In On Kids” notes that Wisconsin taxpayers have sent nearly two billion dollars to for-profit, religious, and online schools since Milwaukee became the nation’s first school vouchers city in 1990.
1310633 tn?1430224091 But you also have secular conservatives and Libertarian types. The third group is generally made up of the rural under-educated. The Secular Conservatives and the Libertarians tend to be very well educated. Many of them were on the other side of the fence when they were impressionable young college students. But as they’ve grown older and wiser, they’ve become Conservatives.
Avatar m tn Part of the problems we are having in this country, I believe, stems from the formal education we have, or don't have. Basically the public education system we have has not changed over the last century, so what changes would you make if you could and if added cost is involved how would you pay for it.
Avatar f tn Teak suggested people need to get educated but there is very little info on the net or in leaflets regarding transmission from cuts and wounds and i dont think its healthy to be continuosly searching the net when the stories are so different, am i righ in thinking that regardless of whether the cut is open that if its superficial then there is no risk posed ?

Avatar n tn I am creating a type 1 diabetes support group to share experiences, knowledge, tips and support. I have had type 1 diabetes for 28 years. I have an insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring system. If you are interested in joining me please contact me at ***@****.
Avatar m tn Your first step should be to attend a diabetes education class -- a free one if your doctor can recommend. Gather some reading materials to learn what foods provide what level of carbs and refer to them often until you have developed a good system for yourself. Remember that exercise and weight loss (if necessary) are equally important to a good food regimen for controlling diabetes.
Avatar f tn On this day, October 11, when the UN and the world observe the first International Day of the Girl, we have a chilling reminder of just how far we have to go before girls achieve true gender equality. Malala Yousufzai, a 14-year-old Pakistani girl who was shot in the head by the Taliban for daring to advocate for the education of girls, is fighting for her life in a Peshawar military hospital. While hopes are high that she will survive, she remains in critical condition.
Avatar f tn The problem with subs is a lack of education by both most doctors who write the rxs and the end consumer (us) are not properly prepared for the complete cycle. Maybe the education process is better in England than in the US as they are patent protected there until 2016 and use Schering Plough (a real drug company) as the distributor.
193988 tn?1215023883 It's a bacteria that naturally grows in the body of some pregnant women. There is nothing you can do about it and it doesn't affect the women, but it could affect the baby during birth. Normally doctors will test you for this at 36 weeks pregnant and if you are positive you get a dose of antibiotics during labor so it doesn't spread to the baby. I had it the only I issue I had was the antibiotics made me sick to my stomach during labor (on an empty stomach).
Avatar n tn Hi I am going to agree and say pray. I am 24 yrs old and I am struggling with diabetes1 and losing the battle. Just as your daughter I am giving up. I hate this disease. Avatar f tn It will only let you put your e-mail on a private message not on a forum ...have you tried the diabetes forums on here, you will find members with similar wanting to connect ..
Avatar f tn I went for years trying to deny my condition. In some ways, diabetes is like knowing you are dying, there are periods of grief just realizing we have this. The good news is, we can change our direction, we can take charge of our bodies, and be even better, and help others to be like the rose, and not the thorns... Education, knowledge, and a desire to be the beautiful rose you we're meant to be! The first step is to want to live, face the facts, and be determined.
Business man2 You can begin your diabetes education by reading, understanding and practicing what is put forth at these sites: http://www.diabetes.org/ http://diabetes.webmd.com/ Since you didn't provide us any information to work with, you can start by making lifestyle changes. Too many people rely solely on medication to make themselves normal when basic lifestyle changes are ignored. Medication alone will not do the work for you, they are there to 'help' you.
