Avatar n tn This is logical for the type 2 diabetic, for eating a fairly low-carbohydrate diet would not require the production of as much insulin by the already stressed pancreas. However, if insulin resistance is the main problem for a type 2 diabetic, then lowering the carb count may not really be the solution, and medications to help the insulin-resistance problem still may be needed.

Avatar f tn Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?
Avatar n tn You need to be on the Low Iodine Diet. If you go to thyca.org and there is the low iodine cookbook pdf on the left hand side. Remember, it's not necessarily a no salt diet. You can have salt, just the non-iodized kind. And no sea salt. I was told to go on it a week before my treatment, which ended up being almost two weeks, because my treatment dose was given late in the week on the second week. I then had to stay on it for 48 hours afterwards. Hope that helps!
Avatar f tn s diet and he thriving and doing exceptionally well! My cookbook will provide all the information about these supplements plus the recipes I have found and altered from various gluten and sugar free books and websites. Avatar m tn frijole, I found out where the name came from...she actually wrote a cookbook on fruitcakes. Here is the trivia I found on her. :-)) Rudisill was an aunt of Truman Capote and helped raise him in his early childhood. She also wrote several books, including The Southern Haunting of Truman Capote and Ask the Fruitcake Lady: Everything You Would Already Know If You Had Any Sense.
1156486 tn?1262394803 On the ThyCa website (thyca.org) look on the upper-left side of the page. Under the heading "Support Services" is the link "Low Iodine Cookbook". Try to get some recipes in the freezer before you go totally medication-free - you'll be pretty tired that last week. Drink lots of water after your I131, suck on sour candy or lemons to flush your salivary glands to prevent damage (permanent dry-mouth is no fun, believe me).
425199 tn?1313068997 So, I could have the lightly salted Matzos as opposed to the unsalted ones? And I could have the salted kosher margarine (dairy free) as opposed to the unsalted one (which, of course, my supermarket is out of)? I was just wondering - I don't know if that's an LID question or if I should direct it to a kosher dietician, but I was just curious.... being able to eat kosher foods would open up some good options, as long as they met the other LID requirements, of course.

Avatar m tn Hi. I am on a quest to lost some weight. I have been overweight for some time and peaked at around 275. I am currently 250. My exercise routine consists of weight training and biking (stationary) for 20 miles 2-3 times a week. I have seen minor differences in my body, such as lost inches on the waist. Avatar m tn Due to stomach problems, I have decided to try a Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Has anyone experienced relief on this diet? Also, what is the policy on yogurt and coconut milk?

592323 tn?1220549358 I have RA too. The bumps you are describing sound like RA nodules. They can occur anywhere but are usually on bony areas of the body. They affect approximately 25% of patients with RA. They can come and go and can range in size from a grain of rice to an inch or larger. They should be ok unless they start to ulcerate or get infected. I have not found anything indicating that you can get rid of them with any method other than surgery but even then they may come back.
Avatar f tn So I just got home from the endocrinologist. She confirmed my gest. diabetes and took time to answer so many questions! Well, I need to check my sugar levels twice a day, big dramatic change on my diet, and I need to walk 15-20 minutes every day. She needs to do some more testing, so I will need to go to the lab again! God, my arms are gonna look like a drug addict's! I wil then need to go back on monday with the results.

Avatar f tn I've been married for 5 years. The last few have been pretty bad. I already bought Oxy's on the street at least once a week or whenever I could when I hurt my back and started getting Oxy's prescribed. I got 3 x 40's a day and told my wife that I was only getting Percocets. After about 6 months I had come up so short for my next appointment that I had to face a cold turkey at a 4 pills a day habit. It was so bad. I had nothing to help.
