486867 tn?1307139011 Ask about Nolvadex it is stronger and might not have the same side effects. What was his testosterone level? Were you guys able to get pregnant ever? My level was 379 and I am worried. I saw an endocrinologist and am awaiting a more complete retest of my hormones. I actually got my wife pregnant last year but she miscarried. I don't mean to be nosy, but I might be in a similar situation soon.
Avatar f tn Obviously, anything that gives you side effects that bad is probably not the right treatment for you. Generally, women aren't given that treatment as it can cause acne, hair growth where women don't want it, and other male attributes. In your case, you had low testosterone and high SHBG, which might have been able to be treated by dietary changes. But people are different. A problem is, testosterone varies a whole lot in both men and women, by the day, hour, week, etc.
Avatar f tn With men, the issue of concern is testosterone deficiency, while with women the concern is excess testosterone production. So no problem indicated there. Not sure why the doctor ran the FSH test for you at age 73. There is room to increase your thyroid med but in the absence of other symptoms I'd be hard pressed to say that an increase is what you need. By the way, what dosage of Armour are you taking daily?
1281181 tn?1271688273 Some tests she may want to have include Testosterone, Free Testosterone, DHEA-S, and Estradiol. B12 deficiency can also imact hair. Also, for Ferritin, note that it needs to be 40+ regardless of ref range; you can have low Ferritin w/ normal Iron so make sure it's Ferritin they check. If she's on meds, the meds can cause hair loss; so can the change in TSH level and being at a suboptimal TSH.
Avatar m tn But they are also not without side effects which concern mostly with side effects of surgery. Testosterone is actually a hormone which is produced by the testis and excess of testosterone is not good. I would suggest you to consult your doctor before trying for any of these methods. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn My question is should I be taking this or something else to combat the effects of coming off testosterone injections? Some sites even stated I should have been on HCG during my therapy to reduce the side effects of shrinking testicles, which I have experienced. HCG is supposed to reverse this so I'm wondering if this is what I need, or just another supplement I can buy to help me feel better and energetic again.
Avatar n tn A trial of artificial testosterone doesn't sound like a great idea, considering that steroids got me into this position in the first place. And what about the effects on the HPTA?
1065748 tn?1255876527 com have been taking 150-160mg a day for 5 days at the beginning of the menstrual cycle (on days previously mentioned). Side effects reported are similar to Clomid. These vary from increased number of headaches to hot flashes. It has been suggested that taking the dosage before bedtime lessens the side effects. I was doing some research on FertilityFriend.com to uncover just how many girls have recently conceived while on Soy Isoflavones and what days they took the supplement.
Avatar f tn Hi. Your husband's testosterone was low, and normally they give testosterone shots for this, or I should say "you" would be giving your husband the shots. But he can also have the nurse at his doctor's office give them to him. It's good that he saw an Endo, and he/she really can't comment until his test results come back. At this time she will have lots to discuss with you.
Avatar m tn Ok, a bit youg but give DHEA a try, but please read up about it before you go on it as it can have some funny side effects with some people, this will boost you up all round your sexual levals, start low 25mg day and work it up to what you think is best for you, you can also back this up with Tribulus again it covers most of the same things, but DHEA is a hormon booster, they are both over the counter things to buy or you can get them from PP or amazon.
Avatar m tn It might be better if it prevented pregnancy than if it caused birth defects in an existing pregnancy, which the literature suggests it can do. Here is from another website: "Testosterone gel can cause side effects in women and children who come in contact with it on the man's skin or clothing. Children may develop aggressive behavior, enlarged genitals, and pubic hair. Women may develop unwanted hair growth or acne.
Avatar n tn Getting on the Testosterone therapy has many cautions and seems a bit intimidating...both from a side effects standpoint, and from a long term, life long need perspective. Any experiences out there with this issue post-tx? Hey Jim, are you still around eyeballing this place from time to time? Copyman?? any others that have had direct experience with the low T???
Avatar m tn My Endo also ordered tests for LH. High LH signals the brain to make more testosterone. Mine is on the low side but in the normal range. It is 3.6 mIU/ml. Supposed normal range is 1.2 to 8.6 mIU/ml. He expected my LH to be much lower. He has classified my condition as "Idiopathic", unexplainable. He said that if my testicles were damaged then my pituitary glands would respond with more LH. I should have high LH if my testosterone is low but my Lh is pretty low too.
Avatar m tn Baldness can be one of the most disturbing side effects of excess testosterone or its derivatives, as testosterone is converted by an enzyme (5-alpha-reductase) into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is much more powerful than testosterone and commonly contributes to hair loss. Of course, there are other much simpler explanations and treatments for sexual dysfunction. For instance, one important factor that is very often overlooked by experts is the loss of sensitivity in the skin of the penis.
Avatar n tn I have been going through a very similar situation and recently came across some information about chronic blepharitis and low testosterone levels. (Yes, even women need a certain level of testosterone.) It would make sense in your case that the pregnancy/difficult labor could worsen hormone imbalance, as could other stressful situations. Have you ever had your hormone levels checked, including testosterone? If not, do it! Mine, like so many other women, was totally in the toilet.
Avatar m tn Only one mentioned him and the fact that he does all the tests and knows how to treat with all hormones. All other women never mentioned testosterone as part of the equation.( 35 women all menopausal) I completely trust my doctor on regards to the thyroid affecting the sex hormones. He's been practicing for over 26 years. A lot of the information he tells me is not available on line, no surprise!
Avatar m tn In fact, when estrogen levels in men are higher than they should be, it can bring about a whole slew of unwanted and potentially dangerous side effects. Enlarged breasts are one of the first and most noticeable side effects to appear in men when estrogen levels are elevated. This is known as gynecomastia and a few other names in the gym too.
Avatar f tn I am being treated with this with Hydrocortone but with this my testosterone levels is low as is my Free Androgen Index is also low. Avatar f tn Ask your doctor to test your adrenal function, as well as all of your reproductive hormones, including testosterone. Some medications can also cause hirsutism, so be sure to check side effects of any medications you might be on.
