Avatar f tn A problem is, testosterone varies a whole lot in both men and women, by the day, hour, week, etc. and even more in women than men, so the only true way to know if you had abnormally low levels would have been to test you a lot, not just twice. You did have the same levels twice, so it might be a problem. A question would be, how's your sexual desire? How's your stamina? How's your ability to build muscle? How's your energy levels?

Avatar m tn DHEA has properties of its own that benefit both men and women. Men maintain their highest levels of this hormone in their early 20s. By age 50 there is a 50% drop in DHEA, and by age 60 a man possesses only one-third the level he had as a young man. Aside from aiding in the production of testosterone and estrogen, DHEA acts as a neurohormone in the brain, protecting it from the effects of excitotoxicity and improving mood. DHEA also improves immune function and reduces abdominal (belly) fat.
Avatar m tn Some research has also linked high estrogen levels to enlargement of the prostate and Prostate Cancer. When the rise in estrogen levels is accompanied by a decline in testosterone levels which is typically the case these risks are even greater. Considering you have heart problems now, it would probably be a good idea to go the way of the hormone replacement for the time being so you get the protection of the raised levels. After that you can figure out where you want to go with natural testosterone boosters. Hope that helps. Good luck.

Half of rest of testosterone is attached to albumin. The free and the testosterone attached to albumin are available to work in your system. The rest is testosterone bound to a sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) and is bound so tight it doesn't do anything.
