Common Questions and Answers about Testosterone in female body

androgel

Avatar f tn After a month or two of ER visits and doctors telling me it’s not the AndrolGel, I stopped it. Told me everyone has testosterone in their body speech. My dosage was 1 sachet of 2.5gm 1% twice a week. That’s 25mg per packet. So I was taking 50mg weekly. I’m just finding out now that women SHOULD NOT be using AndroGel, and the amount I was using was pretty much overdosing. Is this true? Are there any women out there taking AndroGel? Was my dosage too high? Any info will be great! Thank you!
Avatar m tn I am a 23year old female and last week I was told by my OBGYN that I have VERY high testosterone for a female. My level was 246 and normal for a female should be 4-45. Should I be worried?? I got referred to a Endocrinologist.
Avatar f tn I'm a 25 year old female. For a while now I've been getting bad lab results. The only pertinent medical history I have is high platelets. About 6 months ago my liver enzymes were high but are normal now. The last 3 months my testosterone has been running consistently in the 400's. I've had no prior history of hormone imbalances, PCOS, etc. No increase in growth of body or facial hair. My IgG and IgA have been low for approximately 3 months consistently.
Avatar f tn I am an 18 year old female and have excess body and facial hair. I have hair in my toes, my lower back, my stomach, my arms and fingers, my butt, my upper lip and chin hair grow very fast, and even in my breasts. My family is not hairy and my mom and sister barely have any body or facial hair. My period is normal, but I did grow very fast and stopped growing at a young age. I do not know what I have but I want to know. Thanks.

Avatar f tn My husband is one of those people who like to be covered up to the nose, windows closed. I also feel he emits a lot of body heat in bed which doesn't help me. Consequently neither of us is sleeping well. Could this be post menopausal symptoms, ie hot flushes or is it my body temp?
Avatar f tn Purple/blue lines and spots in veins in hands randomly one day...gone within one hour. Pins and needles in right index finger with lack of color, lasted 5 min; wouldn't change with movement. I have made an appt with a physiatrist. Can't get in until April. Do you think this is the right direction to go?
Avatar m tn Body fat contains aromatase, an enzyme that converts testosterone into estrogens, the female sex hormone in women. Having extra estrogens triggers your body to slow its production of testosterone. And the less testosterone you make, the more belly fat you accumulate and the more estrogens you have. Researchers have also targeted midriff weight as the strongest predictor of a condition called symptomatic androgen deficiency, or AD.
Avatar m tn I know that body building can become a sort of addiction, and you want to see results faster. Please remember that balance is important in all things. My boyfriend has read a lot about these supplements, and his brother is addicted to them. The brother has problematic mood swings and has trouble getting along with people. Not only that, but he admits they cause ED and shrinking of his genitals. My boyfriend started taking this and that, and had his first experience with ED.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am a 21 year old man and I suspect that I have low testosterone in my body. There are many reasone that forced me to come to such conclusion. Some of these characteristics are my high pitched voice, my submissive/passive personality, my kiddish looks, and overall personality. I come of as weak and low self esteem individual who can be easily influenced by others and be easily controlled by the male dominant society.
Avatar m tn I have been experiencing low testosterone myself and I have read a great deal on the importance of testosterone in the male. My male dog is fixed. He is 3 years old and seems very healthy. But i've begun to worry about his testosterone levels and how it effects his health. Is there a natural way to support my dogs testosterone levels. Any thoughts?

Avatar f tn I am female but can relate to your question. The thyroid gland controls so many things in the body that it is hard to make an intelligent answer for you. I know for myself that once the issues of hypothyroidism were addressed by my doctor including the correct dosage of medication, that I was back to normal in a short time.
Avatar f tn There is no purpose for the male nipple. They have them because they have estrogen as well as testosterone in their body. Nipples are actually the result of the female hormone in there body. Which is normal. Of course.
1084115 tn?1385228589 For a male there is a loss of the ability for the body to process testosterone and so there is a build of female hormones. The ratio of testosterone to estrogen balance is altered. This build up of female hormones can lead to the appearance of spider veins on the skin, a loss of body hair including pubic hair and Gynecomastia, the growth of breast tissue with the presence of a rubbery or firm mass extending concentrically from the nipples and testicular atrophy.
Avatar f tn Libido in both men and women is related closely to the level of testosterone in the blood (yes women have testosterone produced largely by the adrenal glands and men have so-called female hormones in their system). Testosterone level in the blood can be increased by a number of medications (androgel applied to the skin of the stomach, shots in the buttocks, etc.) all of which require a doctor's prescription.
Avatar f tn Feeling wired, excess hair, lean body, irregular periods and excess testosterone production all seem to point to it. Get your testosterone, free testosterone, DHEA and androsteneidione tested- they vary depending on where you are on your cycle, so ask your endo when you should get them tested.

Avatar m tn I'm just curious, if you're a female as you say on your profile, why are you taking testosterone? If you're posting on an anxiety site, especially, why are you taking testosterone? Just wondering. You probably have a virus, but there are no doctors on here. You say you missed school -- how old are you? At any rate, if you're concerned, you should see a doctor.
Avatar n tn t see gains anymore and when I stop I lose muscle pretty fast. Along with that I have low libido and no sex drive. My question is, will my testosterone levels return after treatment is over?
Avatar f tn m concerned and turns out I have extremely too much testosterone in my body, like male levels. She mentioned the number 500 something but I'm not sure what that means. This was via a phone call. Said there's nothing to be done that it just has to burn off. I have scheduled an appt with my dr to discuss further what caused this and will this be an issue in the future. I may end up getting back on Estradiol pills and getting the Testosterone shot. I need something consistent.
Avatar f tn The fact you seemed to easily put on muscle indicates your testosterone is there. There is no normal penis size, so that's a non-issue. The question there is, does it work, not how big it is. We come in all sizes and shapes and maybe this is just yours. But if you're truly concerned, see your doctor and get a blood test for sexual hormones.
Avatar n tn I am a biological female taking testosterone dues to a diagnosis of body dysphoria. During some blood tests over the last year, they have found thyroid antibodies; my TSH seems to be going up and down, and I have super low Vitamin D, but my T3 and T4 remain stable. Is anyone here on cross-sex hormones, or has an idea of what this may be doing to my thyroid? I am 19 and have been more tired over the last few years. I have gained weight and reduced immunity in the last three years.
Avatar f tn Adrenal exhaustion can also occur as the result of not enough sleep and too much stress In general it can be seen that the foods that are recommended to increase the testosterone levels in the body are the same ones that are recommended in a healthy diet for every-one, particularly for a healthy heart. By following a good diet for your general health you are following a good diet to increase your testosterone.
