Avatar_m_tn I've fought excessive body heat and sweating, jumping (high/low) sexual feelings, and excessive body odor since puberty. Is it possible that all of this is directly related to my low testosterone levels? I've heard this is called male menopause. Is male menopause real? If it is then it seems I've been dealing with it since puberty. If these issues are directly related to my low testosterone levels/male menopause then, "how can I stop the body odor issue without Testosterone Therapy?
Avatar_n_tn I have never before had any body odor, even when sweating hard. My female area exudes the same kind of smell that men have in their sexual organ areas and it's all the time. No amount of washing or bathing stops it. HELP!!!
Avatar_n_tn So, you work out, work hard labor, run, jog, whatever...your body uses that testosterone up. A normal body, no problem just make more...guys with this problem...not so simple. Then you are a little low. With my husband being a construction worker this is an issue. He's on 2 tubes of testim a day. 2 boxes of this stuff a month because he works hard labor everyday. To this day, (he's 27 now) we have no idea why he has this. He went through puberty fine, we had 2 kids and then bam...
Avatar_f_tn My main issue is that I take a shower 2-3 times a day yet I have body odor. I know sometimes I have bad breath even after brushing my teeth, using a tongue cleaner and/or mouthwash. My feet smell even though I am aware of it and therefore clean it thoroughly and have clean shoes. I change my underwear multiple times a day and it is "wet" after just an hour or two. I've changed my soap and body wash so many times to try to eliminate this.
Avatar_f_tn My stomach has long hair and the lower you go down my waist the more it looks like a mans body. My buttocks and my private areas are very dark and have long and thick hair allover. My back, shoulders, chest and breasts also have very thick dark hair. I am currently getting laser hair removal on all of these areas. I also have a strong vaginal odor w/ no itching or burning. Lots of discharge, thick and white or rarely thick and clear.
Avatar_n_tn It's like this on a daily basis with my skin, whenever my body temperatue goes up. I feel like my body's thermostat is broken and I'm constantly overheating. I've been taking Claritin and Benadryl but that doesn't seem to help at all. My doctor also gave me a prescription medicine called Atarax, which only makes me drowsy and doesn't help the itchy feeling. Any suggestions? Btw, I've taken blood tests to see if there is anything wrong but everything came out fine.
Avatar_n_tn The androgens that the adrenals make are not directed by LH, they are produced in a rather unknown way but are typically starting around age 6 or even 7 with a minimal effect, these androgens-NOT testosterone will cause the secondary characteristics that you talk about concerning hair and body odor. The size of the genitalia is influenced by testosterone and that is in turn affected by the LH hormone.
Avatar_m_tn I have this VAGINAL ODOR when im having sex but sometimes when im finish i dont have the odor nomore. but u can still smell it alittle. i was wondering why do i have the odor it's like a fishy mess and other times it's a different smell. ive been to the doctor and all my tests came back normal so i wanna know why am i still having this odor during sex. i douche and when i take a shower i wash really really good down there so what's the problem.
Avatar_f_tn Probably you are getting a little serge in testosterone - that is why pregnant women grow more body hair too
Avatar_n_tn excessive sweating may not be hormonal per se but rather an inherited exaggerated autonomic(nerve expression) response, however things to consider include the body odor that you now describe. This may need assessed by a peds endo or initially by your pediatrician. It may be premature adrenarche, the early production of the male hormones from the adrenal glands, when they are produced early or in excess it is important to rule out abnormal reasons.
Avatar_n_tn One important cause that is rare and often screened for at birth is congenital adrenal hyperplasia, this is a block in the enzymes that the adrenal glands make and there is a build up of the male hormones that then cause the hair to become coarse and curly in the pubic and axillary area and cute baby sweat to change to body odor.
Avatar_n_tn Even with family history of late bloomers, if he has absolutely no signs of puberty(hair, body odor, testicular enlargement) he needs at least a brief workup by a peds endo or at least by his pediatrician, I would consider a cbc, free T4, TSH, LH, FSH, free and total testosterone, estradiol, 17-OH progesterone and even genetic testing called a karyotype if needed, an xray of his left hand will help as well in someone we are hoping to be a late bloomer.
1236893_tn?1408490528 Large amounts of soy can drastically reduce testosterone, according to a study in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition; researchers found that men who had 120 mg of soy a day saw the decrease. ( I said Soy wasn't good for men and woman for a number of years! Only fermented soy is OK! Soy is in everything. I have seen it listed in the ingredients on a box of tea.
Avatar_n_tn You describe premature adrenarche, a part of the pubertal process, body odor is the effect of the adrenal hormones on our cute baby sweat and suddenly stinky odor! It may be normal but needs addressed, so your pediatrician can start by doing a checkup, making sure there is no pubic hair, breast development, rapid height velocity.
Avatar_f_tn She has already exhibited body odor, mood swings and she has pubic hair. So no advice, but certainly commiseration.

Avatar_n_tn My son started early puberty at age 7 (pubic hair, acne, body odor) - I think it's actually called andrache and not acutally precocious puberty. Regardless he is now 12 years old and has always had an advanced bone age by about 2+ years. Although he is quite tall now 5'4'' (95% on growth chart), because his bone age is so advanced and due to the andrache he will not have the typical growth spurt and will stop growing much earlier than other boys.
Avatar_n_tn Being a lump, I then went to a mirror and squeezed it. A lot of white, odor-filled discharge came out. Since then, I continue to try and clean it by squeezing until nothing comes out and then put rubbing alcohol on it, but more always seems to come back. Does anyone know what this is? And if so, how do you get rid of it? Thank you.

Avatar_n_tn I'm sorry everyone, but I am laughing a little bit at the irony in all of this. The smell everyone is referring to is TESTOSTERONE. After a particularly vigorous "romp" large amounts of testosterone are released into the body and then breaks down shortly after, giving the "manly smell". In some people it's "fishy" in others it's "musky". It depends on the person's own chemistry (and the person smelling it as well).

Avatar_n_tn My 5 month old son has pubic hair on his testicles, enlarged testicles and feet and under arm body odor. I was referred to a pediatrician when he was 4 1/2 months old and now am waiting to for an appointment with an endocrinologist at the childrens hospital in the region. He has had blood test done and the results are as follows: testosterone= 2.2 mmol/l, LH= 1, FSH=1, platelets= 494, cortisol (14h38)=324... I am still awaiting the results for DHEA, and another hormone test.
Avatar_n_tn Sore blistered tongue HURTS distinct Night blindness pale skin/ gray lips little white bumps on my bottom left eyelid right now Deep cystic nodular acne over entire face and neck (NEVER had acne until 23ish) dizziness-faintness when standing/crouching complete brain fog, almost impossible to focus or function irritability inexplainable bruising breath tastes bad over last 2 years, increases in body odor no matter how much I shower chronic sinus drainage - never feels like a cold since
Avatar_n_tn I forgot to add that I have been taking Accutane for a couple months now, and I've heard that it messes with some testosterone levels. I dont know if this is valid, but testosterone, genitals, testosterone, genitals... possible link? I dont know.
Avatar_n_tn However if he develops anything else such as axillary hair, body odor, or lumps near the nipples then that is a red flag and he needs to see an endocrinologist. Also if the pubic hair increases over time that is also a concern. Many drs will just want to keep an eye at first, since babies are seen quite frequently there is no danger in waiting to see if there's a change in amount of hair at the next visit.
Avatar_n_tn Are pheromone conditioned with other hormone like testosterone or androngene etc.? Is it possible to change this when my hormone level will change? I know that also other women has the same problem but I think it´s really really sheldom. Thanks for you help!
Avatar_n_tn We need to rule out something called congenital adrenal hyperplasia, yes a blood test is needed as well as what we call a stim test, they usually use freezy spray and place an iv so as not to have to poke her anymore, they get baseline labs and give a medicine and measure labs after that to see if the balance of steroid hormones made by the adrenals are made in an abnormal pattern, congenital adrenal hyperplasia can present at birth but also can present later in the nonclassical cases with par
Avatar_m_tn All day at worked i was freaked out thinking at 32 I wet the bed. I came home and examined the sheets and the portion that was wet had no stains or odor. The white matress had no stains either. My boxers were still moist but they did not smell. My question is it possible this was sweat ???? This same thing happened 2 months earlier... I remember waking up cold and wet where the boxers met the bed and freaking out.... the next morning nothing... no wetness no stains or smell.
Avatar_n_tn My son is 10.9 years old and in advanced puberty. Symptoms began at age 8 and were continually mentioned to our pediatrician. He is 5'5", and has acne, body odor, facial hair, public hair, etc. We just saw a pediatric endocrinologist yesterday. Blood work was ordered to check the adrenal gland and an x-ray of the left wrist was taken to assess bone age. The physician predicted that labs would be normal and bone age would be around 13. If that was the case, there would be no treatment.
