Avatar f tn ve found information that indicated that low testosterone after hysterectomy especially could be blamed for chemical sensitivities. They also indicated that low testosterone could be blamed for believe it or not, clumsiness, and also sensitivity to loud noises... I've struggled with all of these. The clumsiness is better when I keep up with my workouts (helps the nerve endings, I believe). I'm also better when I keep up with my small dose of Testosterone which I use along with estradiol.
Avatar n tn The doctor checked my testosterone level due to and adverse affect of opiates, and I didnot have any. He put me on supplemental testosterone, but I have read it would come back naturally and taking supplements will stop the natural production of my testosterone. Anyone had this issue.
Avatar n tn And your doctor told you what? Is the low testosterone level manifesting itself in any symptoms? If not you don't need any supplements, if so check with doctor for appropriate type and dose to take.
Avatar m tn My PSA has been drifting upwards and after maintaining a level of around 500 for my testosterone, my most recent blood test show an increase of PSA from 3.4 to 3.7 and testosterone levels of 500+ down to 200. I am 63 years old. My concern is that my low testosterone levels may be masking higher PSA levels.
Avatar n tn If your dog is neutered, it will stop the levels of testosterone, which could cause prostate swelling and prostate cancer too. It would take a while to max. effect because he'd still have SOME testosterone in his system for a bit. But it would be a quicker option than medication. But it would be a good option only if he's generally in good fitness and condition for his age. The anaesthetic might stress him if he has heart or lung problems, or some other health problem.
Avatar f tn when men get older they make less testosterone and in our industrial world men loose it quicker progesterone is the building blocks for testosterone so if he does not have the building material how would he build the finished item. its safe and very good for yourself aswell, it has so many benefits for women its mad they dont prescribe it from doctors. well its not mad its economics they cant make any money from it as its not a drug. take a look at this website http://www.progesterone.co.
Avatar f tn Where can I find the latest medical advice on using Testosterone gel 13 years after prostate removal? Removed because of cancer. Doctor keeps saying that Testosterone Therapy is not proper for patients who have had prostate cancer. I feel like my energy battery is just about depleated and seem to have all of the symptoms for need of T Therapy. Is there any good medical research that I can use to further discuss with Primary Care MD?
Avatar n tn This does not sound like breast cancer but it could be an infection and needs to be treated. It will not hurt to schedule an appointment with your family Doctor for evaluation. Male breast cancer is rare, but it can happen when men get older. The symptoms could include lumps, changes to the nipple or breast skin - redness or scaling, skin dimpling or puckering, or nipple discharge. Best wishes...
Avatar n tn Testosterone comes from your testes as well as from the adrenal glands so they should check out the adrenals as well. Both estrogen and testosterone are redundant systems. Estrogen and testosterone are very related (you know how when a baby is formed, the same parts go to form the ovaries and testes, so it just a matter of how much of each hormone which gives us characteristics).
Avatar m tn Hi Birth, At 46 there are to things that can incress your testosterone, DHEA is one,and its a hormone, but please read up about it first as it can have the odd funy side effect with the odd person, ok and two is Tribulus, and its a herb, now both of these run along the same lines by boosting your testosterone, lifting your libido and kicking up your energy levels, now I take both because I had ED and now in recovery.
Avatar m tn With all the results you have, I hate to ask, but could you just post your TSH Free T3 and Free T4 and include the reference ranges provided for each? Ranges vary fron lab to lab, that is why they are needed to see how you are with your thyroid, as far as Testosterone is concerned, it normally does not affect the thyroid levels.
Avatar n tn Testosterone pills are the only versions of testosterone that are known to cause blood filled cysts on the liver and even cancer. If he needs to do this he will need to man up for shots for the rest of his life. If you start taking it your testicles stop producing it, if you do it for long enough you will need the shots every week or so for the rest of your life. That is the true scoop.

Avatar m tn flyingfool... do you have a link to something that discusses T4 converting to an enzyme that might prevent cancer? I've looked and all I can find in relation to enzymes and T4 is what we all pretty much know - that T4 is converted by the deiodinase enzymes to T3. There are 3 enzymes - D1, D2 and D3. D1 converts T4 to T3 to cells throughout the body; D2 converts T4 to T3 in the pituitary; and D3 converts T4 to rT3, which is exact opposite of T3 and is inactive.

Avatar m tn I was on androgel for several years with good libido results before discontinuing due to prostate cancer. After brachytherapy for my cancer, I am in remission, and after 2+ years resumed taking androgel. I am on androgel again, and have high Testosterone levels (about 1000), but my libido has never recovered. I also have had hypothyroidism, but have been taking synthroid for it for many years with no adverse impact on my libido. Does anyone have a suggestion for what to do?
Avatar m tn There are several options for the treatment of metastatic prostate cancer. These can be stratified into two general categories, hormonal therapy and chemotherapy. It is important to clarify that no treatments can cure advanced prostate cancer. The goal of these treatments is to control the spread and related symptoms. Hormonal therapy, in broad terms, aims to limit the effect of testosterone in driving the spread of prostate cancer. Thank you for your question.
Avatar m tn many hormones play a role in gynecomastya, the main three are testosterone, estradiol and prolactine, regarding the testosterone you should have a healthy testosterone to estradiol ratio, estradiol E2 (estrogen) is a very important hormone for bothe genders and its very supportive for your immune system, your bone structure your emotions and even your sex drive but it should always be in a right balance with testosterone, if it was imbanced it will cause many troubles including gyno.
Avatar m tn Nothing found except bad cholesterol a little high and testosterone in low to mid range, but within range. I really have become a hypochondriac and have this cancer phobia. I am trying to change my life and become healthier, but this fear is so hard to overcome. I quit smoking (after eight years) and changed my diet. I am slowly starting to exercise more and more. I have never been the healthiest person, but I have never really had any health problems.
Avatar m tn My dad had undergone prostate LRP due to prostate cancer 2 years ago, and he had just done his latest health check. PSA: <0.01 Testosterone Level: 257.2 Is it a concern that his Testosterone level has increased significantly even though his PSA remains unchanged from his previous health check done 6 months ago? His previous testosterone level is 19.
Avatar m tn Or do you think after 23 years if it did not become cancer by now, there is a very good chance that it is not cancer and it will never turn into cancer and so I should now go see a urologist? I understand everybody reading this would have told me to go to see a urologist in the beginning but I was way to scared at 30 yrs.

Avatar f tn t amount to much more than talk and a check for an enlarged prostate and a blood test to screen for possible cancer perhaps and a urinalysis. A urologist will actually have the other scanning equipment short of an MRI in the office.
Avatar m tn The decrease in bioavailable testosterone can then result in declines in sexual function and muscle and red cell mass, and contribute to the loss of bone density.”22 3. Soy and fish oil keep estrogen and SHBG in check. Another Japanese study examined how the essential fatty acids EPA and DHA (found in high concentrations in fish) affected SHBG levels in men 43 to 88 years of age.

Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? Pain in the testicles can happen due to varicocele, torsion testis and testicular cancer. Nausea and dizziness with pain in testicles can occur in torsion of testis, but there would also be swelling, redness etc. Torsion of testis is considered an emergency, because left untreated can lead to the atrophy of testis and infertility. I personally think a SERM is probably a better first step in HRT for men than an exogenous androgen.
