Avatar n tn I seem to have(had) the same thing you described. I am also a water person and noticed mine after diving. Dr. Bhupinder thought it sounded like tinea cruris(jock itch) or a fungal infection. He recommended an 'over-the-counter' that contained either miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine, ketaconazole or clotrimazole. My pharmicist recommended clotrimazole as the best of those five and it IS working. The red rash has faded to practically clear,no itching at all.

Avatar f tn Hi, The rash is probably due to Tinea cruris, a fungal infection of the skin.Tinea corporis is a superficial fungal infection (dermatophytosis). It causes itchy red patches. It is commonly seen in skin folds because fungi prefer warm, moist environments. In general ringworm responds well to topical treatment. Topical antifungals are applied to the lesion twice a day for at least 3 weeks.

1573600 tn?1301974932 Hello Dr. Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. I developed intense itchiness on the left side of my groin. The first time it appeared was four months ago. It went away for a while then came back early this month. The intense itchiness in the groin continued and now it's on both sides of my groin. Initially it started as a raised wrinkled bump. It is the same color as the skin around it. There are no blisters or open sores. The area becomes inflamed and thick when scratched.
