Avatar_n_tn For several years now I have had an itching crotch. Not the penis itself is itching, but the general area around it. Specially the area on my inner legs (like where your inner thigh stops, and your crotch begins). At first I thought it was because my hairs are quite rough, and that that was causing irritation to my skin. I have tried everything, from shaving, to shorten, I've even tried different shampoos to get rid of the itch.

Avatar_m_tn Hiya For the last 3 days ive had sporadic itching in my crotch area, where the pubic hair is. Its not intense (i can ignore it) and it doesnt seem to be constant...it seems worse at night. Sometimes i do really want to scratch but other times i dont even notice it. I cant see any sores, or redness and im avoiding irritating the area other than cleaning carefully. Does this sound consistant with an infection?.

Avatar_n_tn Hello, There are a few possibilities for this kind of itching of vagina and groins. It can be a fungal infection(Tinea cruris) or a contact or irritant ( xerotic) dermatitis. Wash your groin and vagina daily and then dry thoroughly by pat drying, not rubbing. A hairdryer is useful if you have hairy groins. The damp groin is an ideal site for fungi to multiply. Also wear cotton underwears and change them twice a day and do not share other people’s towels.
