Terbinafine for scalp

Common Questions and Answers about Terbinafine for scalp

lamisil

Avatar f tn Griseofulvin or Terbinafine are the treatments for this not Ketoconazole. Except that you can use ketoconazole for a shampoo in addition to the pills. This is provided your liver is healthy. They may do a blood test to check your liver enzymes. So you need oral Griseofulvin or Terbinafine pills (Lamisil). So I would see another dermatologist as that one doesn't seem to be up to date. They can do a culture and see what type it is and confirm that it is a fungus too.
Avatar m tn All my symptoms point to Black Piedra and I was in Chennai India for 10 days but that was 2 years ago. No fungal treatment over the last 3 months is working. My head has been shaved for 2 months but the black crust keeps growing out covering the hair from inside the follicle. When my hair was longer it felt like grains of sand but nothing would ever fall out.
Avatar n tn Topical terbinafine solution (1%) has also been shown to be effective in the treatment of scalp seborrhoea,as may lotions containing alpha hydroxy acids or corticosteroids (such as fluocinolone acetonide). Pimecrolimus topical lotion is also sometimes prescribed. It would be advisable to consult a skin specialist for the symptoms and a proper clinical examination if the symptoms persist. Let us know if you need any other information and post us on how you are doing. Regards.
Avatar n tn All my life I've been told that I have thick hair. I'm 21, Asian, male; for the past few years I've been noticing that I have thinner hair on the right side of my scalp. When I run my hand gently through my hair I notice that hair falls out WAY easier than the left side of my head. I'm not shedding clumps of hair, it's just my right side of the scalp sheds more in comparison to the left. Is this something normal? I've been stressing about this a lot!

Avatar n tn Hi Griseofulvin and Terbinafine have been used as oral antifungal medications especially for severe and resistant forms of fungal infections. These may be given for fungal infections of the scalp. However, this requires close supervision of your physician as these medications do have their side effects. You may need a physician’s prescription for these medications after a complete assessment of your condition.

Avatar n tn imlooking for an answer my self my scalp hurts and it causes headaches badly and idk feels like i wore a tight ponytail.its weird cuz im not loosing much hair..
Avatar f tn I have it as well the only thing that I found controls it is a shampoo called T-Gel it controls the itch peeling soreness usually it prevents any flare ups for at least 6 months for me... wash your scalp with it for about 4 days or until it's gone! then return to using a mild shampoo, I use Pantene daily hydration if you don't wash your scalp daily the over production of skin on your scalp will cause it to return... at least that has been my observation dealing and living with this..
Avatar n tn Among dermatologist recommended treatments are shampoos containing coal tar, ciclopiroxolamine, ketoconazole, selenium sulfide, or zinc pyrithione. For severe disease, keratolytics such as salicylic acid or coal tar preparations may be used to remove dense scale. Topical terbinafine solution (1%) has also been shown to be effective in the treatment of scalp seborrhoea,as may lotions containing alpha hydroxy acids or corticosteroids (such as fluocinolone acetonide).

Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with rosacea and was wondering if there is such a thing as rosacea of the scalp. I have little pimples here and there on the scalp and extreme itching. I do not have a greasy scalp, dandruff, or head lice . I need help with the itching. I, too, have tried different shampoos, including those with tea tree oil in them and others for so-called dry, itchy scalp-but it's usually for dandruff users.
Avatar n tn Broad spectrum antibiotics (3 months; folliculitis suspected, later ruled out), nizoral pills (3 weeks), fluconazole (50mg/day for 5 weeks), itraconazole (200mg/day for 9 weeks) -probably forgot something... 6) Outcome of treatment: Very characteristically (and contrary to the promises) my SD is not controllable at all (not even by adrenal cortical hormones), and I can find no correlation between medication (of any kind) and my symptoms. They are consistent and annoying!

Avatar f tn t be treated topically. For the feet and pubic region, the best product is topical Lamisil. For the scalp, you must take Lamisil tablets: 250mg of terbinafine hydrochloride for 30 days. I also recommend shaving your head, keeping it dry, cool, exposed to air and sunlight.
Avatar n tn Around 2 or 3 weeks ago I began using head and shoulders and massaging my scalp while i wash in hopes to get ride of it but i have seen little improvement. These scaly areas are kinda think and if i pick them off they regrow quickly. Also behind my right ear are smaller scaly areas and where my earlobe connects to my face there is a wound that does not heal, it just scales up and if i pick it off it becomes oily and sometimes bleeds.

Avatar n tn My scalp is always dry and flaky, as well as my face, especially around my eyebrows, forehead, and hairline. I have tried everything in the book-steroid foams, creams, lotions, shampoos, salicylic acid, sulfur, you name it. I cannot even put on my makeup without first slathering cream and aquaphor ointment on my face. I get microdermabrasion once every two weeks, and have even had UV light therapy.
Avatar f tn I also notice that I am itchy in certain parts of my body frequently (My lower back, insides of knees) I also tend to get pimples on my scalp frequently. I am 28 years old and keep good hygiene. Could this be a fungus, or maybe eczema, or maybe they are unrelated? The specks in my hands are very scratchy.
Avatar m tn Since the STD tests came back negative Dr asked me to continue to use Ketoconazol and for the crawling sensation and itch on scalp and body Dr prescribed me hydroxyzine hcl TAB 25MG and clobetasol propionate SOL 0.05% to be used after the shower every morning. on taking hydroxyzine i still have the itch and crawling feeling, the topical solution on scalp helps a little but it still itches.
