Avatar m tn Members the first line oral anti viral for hepatitis b is tenofovir and according to doctor it is long life use. My question are 1) what is the efficacy and safety of tenofovir for says 10years or 15 years or 20years ? 2) what is the longest years of taking tenofovir that we have on record now?
Avatar m tn I am on tenofovir from March 2012 when i am pregnant at week 32. At that time i had hbs and hbe both positive.
Avatar f tn After taking Tenofovir for seven months, my viral load test now read Not Detected. Do I stop the Tenofovir or what does this result mean?
Avatar m tn HBVDNA is not detectable, Fiboscan is normal. initially i went through PegIntreforen+ Tenofovir for 40 weeks in 2012 then i switch to only Tenofovir. Now it 3 yrs and 4 month on Tenofovir. Last week my doctor told that you HbeAg should be non reactive after 2 yrs of Tenofovir but since it over 3 years so might be Tenofovir resistance So you need to change my medicine. Please suggest me what i do.
Avatar m tn you have been very very unlucky to have met the wrong doctors, it was well known to researchers and advanced doctors about lam and adefovir worsening illness and not curing, now entecavir and tenofovir are another story but you have to be naive,i have been very lucky that the team of researchers in my city knew this and i also knew this reading trials in your condition i would start alinia even if off label, it is active against all resistant strains hbv and change immediately adefovir with ten
4552918 tn?1356986879 sequential treatment by tenofovir first for about 3 years and interferon add on later for another 2 years of combo increases interferon response to 50% hbv clearance at 48weeks already so if you want hbv cure you can use tenofovir 3 years and then add on interferon.
Avatar m tn Now a days very potential medicines like tenofovir and enteciver are available which cures hepb virus on long term treatment 3-10 yrs and keeps your liver safe from further damage
Avatar m tn 19 In people taking tenofovir disoproxil who have detectable HBV DNA at 48 weeks of treatment and no history of lamivudine resistance, consider adding lamivudine to tenofovir disoproxil. In people with a history of lamivudine resistance, consider adding entecavir to tenofovir disoproxil. 1.5.20 Consider stopping nucleoside or nucleotide analogue treatment 12 months after HBeAg seroconversion in people without cirrhosis. 1.5.
1246925 tn?1271551922 you must absolutely keep hbvdna und, if you are not und entecavir is the best choice or a combo of entecavir+tenofovir or tenofovir+ftc (i guess you are already on this regimen).
Avatar m tn Participants in this open-label study were randomly assigned to either stop tenofovir or continue therapy for 144 weeks. Tenofovir could be restarted if clinically significant hepatitis B flares occurred. The primary endpoint was HBsAg loss at week 144, considered the closest approximation to a cure. Berg presented interim 48-week findings; 21 participants in the stop-tenofovir group and 21 in the continuous-tenofovir group completed 48 weeks and were included in this analysis.
Avatar m tn The recommended first-line of treatment drugs are entecavir and tenofovir. I don't quite understand why your doc is recommending weaker drugs... especially those that have a well-documented history of causing resistance. Download the textbook from http://www.hepatologytextbook.com/. Refer page 133 for some info on entecavir and tenofovir. There is info on your drug options around that page.
Avatar n tn she must use tenofovir it is the only safe on pregnancy, this drugs have no effect on hbv and increase infected cells so she wont be able to stop them until a cure for hbv is found, this drugs are only to stop liver damage she must check liver damage by fibroscan if she has no damage she better avoid these drugs and try interferon or a combo of interferon+entecavir or tenofovir, if these drug are used with interferon they can be stopped anytime
Avatar m tn Does anyone have a direct website to cheap Tenofovir in India? I checked cipla but didn't see any prices.
Avatar n tn Only the doctor knows your complete history and can make the right decision about risks/benefits of the drug to you.
9674600 tn?1405211066 you should change for entecavir to tenofovir and use with interferon alpha. " i little afraid for use interferon alpha + tenofovir. please find attached picture my last 2 years detail analysis document. My HDV always detected analysis documents. how can i remove for my HDV?
Avatar m tn If you have advanced fibrosis and high alt and ast then the best choice would be an antiviral like tenofovir or entecavir. Entecavir will bring the VL down faster. I had 246.000.000 hbv dna in 2007 and i remember feeling very tired So you definitely need to bring the viral load down - your viral count is high.
Avatar f tn That is actually not much better than tenofovir vs tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, the actual substance in Viread. It is 50 times more potent than tenofovir. It is all this improper simplification of callling viread tenofovir. Tenovovir, if it would be given orally, would have no effect on HBV. TEnofovir if given intravenously or sc would still have almost no effect on HBV in the liver. the substance has a high negative charge and cannot easlily penetrate cell membranes.
Avatar m tn Baraclude is more expensive and has around 1% resistance. Tenofovir is cheaper and has no resistance so far. So Tenofovir is the better choice for first line medication. Becareful with ETV+TDF combo, if the virus resists, then you only have second and third line drugs which aren't strong. ETV and TDF are the strongest so far.
Avatar n tn Also if there is no pregnancy consideration, I would strongly advocate for a switch of Adefovir to Tenofovir. Tenofovir will be FDA approve for treating HepB hopefully soon. It is similiar to Adefovir but much more powerful with a better resistance profile. Resistance to Adefovir start to creep up after year 3. And once that happens, that will compromise Tenofovir as a treatment option. Good luck.
Avatar f tn (20) The T69S insertion mutations, associated with resistance to multiple nucleoside analogues, are associated with resistance to tenofovir as well. Tenofovir resistance conferred by the T69S mutation or by multiple thymidine analogue resistance mutations appears to be multiplied if the M184V mutation is replaced by wild-type.(21) The K65R mutation, which may be selected by prior nucleoside analogue therapy, is associated with a modest decrease in sensitivity to tenofovir.
Avatar m tn Association of Higher Plasma Vitamin D Binding Protein and Lower Free Calcitriol Levels with Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate Use and Plasma and Intracellular Tenofovir Pharmacokinetics: Cause of a Functional Vitamin D Deficiency? "The finding of a 26% increase in vitamin D binding protein and a 42% decrease in free 1,25-OH(2)D between the lowest and highest quintiles of plasma tenofovir has not been previously reported.
Avatar m tn This study included 44 HBsAg+ and IgM/anti-HBc+ patients with a compatible clinical-history for AHB (all genotype-D) observed from 2000 to 2010. Plasma-samples obtained at the first-observation were used for population- and ultra-deep sequencing (UDPS). Immune-escape mutations were retrieved from literature. Results: 68.2% of patients was male with median (IQR) age of 34 (27-46) years. Median (IQR) ALT and median (IQR) serum HBV-DNA were 2,717(2,035-3,319)U/L and 5.2(IQR:4.5-6.9)log10IU/ml.
Avatar m tn //www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/146749.php Clevudine is a very dangerous drug to use: it will encourage development of mutations of the virus, and some other (more effective) drugs may be rendered ineffective to fix it.
