Telmisartan valsartan

Common Questions and Answers about Telmisartan valsartan

336017 tn?1263579257 the best ARB to take is probably telmisartan because of its high tissue penetration. The best ACE inhibitor to take is perindopril. Some other ARBs and ACE inhibitors may work less effectively or not at all (some ARBs I know to be good - besides telmisartan - are valsartan, irbesartan, candesartan. Most of them are good EXCEPT for losartan, which is a surmountable antagonist and, theoretically, would lose its effect over time). Next fact: you need to take a high dose.
Avatar n tn I get that dry cough too. I don't take an ACE inhibitor though, I don't think. Just Lopressor, Dyazide/Maxzide, Lipitor and aspirin for the heart issues. For me it started a couple of years ago one summer after pushing myself too hard. I start coughing out of the blue to the point of either just about passing out or vomiting mucus. Urgg My chest hurts and feels sunken in, pounds very hard and quivers sort of and then I'm fine till it happens again.
Avatar f tn It is thought that losartan is not as good a choice as other ARBs like valsartan and telmisartan because losartan penetrates tissue less than those drugs and because losartan is a surmountable antagonist that could, theoretically, lose effectiveness over time. This isn't a proven fact to my knowledge and Dr. Dietz for various reasons may or may not agree.
Avatar m tn t keep up with the research in many cases, and this is one such case. **High-dose** ARBs (e.g., telmisartan, valsartan) and ACE inhibitors (e.g., perindopril) have been shown to be extremely effective in halting aortic enlargement, as long as a sufficiently high dose is used (i.e., maximum FDA-approved dose). Do the research and demand that your doctor read it and re-evaluate his/her recommendation of beta blockers, or find a doctor who actually keeps up with the latest research.
Avatar n tn I know many, many people, including myself, who have experienced either stabilization or major reducations in aortic root diameters with these drugs. Personally, I take valsartan, but my friends have experienced similar success (or better) with candesartan, telmisartan, losartan (although this drug is surmountable and thus theoretically not the best one to take), irbesartan, and, for ACE inhibitors, perindopril.
Avatar n tn Have you used Valsartan for treatment of hypertension patients in high risk patients? Are you aware about the combination Valsartan and Amlodipine to treat hypertension in high risk patients? How its is better than Telmisarton and Amlodipine combination?
Avatar n tn THIS is the problem with most cardiologists today. They routinely prescribe beta blockers for patients with aortic root dilatation, even though the most recent studies have shown that they DO NOT HELP YOU. Beta blockers are prescribed because they make sense on paper, but in practice, they are absolutely useless. These doctors are also grossly behind the times. I don't know whether they are ignorant of the latest, big-news breakthroughs or just unwilling to try them.
Avatar m tn IS THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS TAKING COMBINATION OF TELMISARTAN &AMLODIPINE FOR LONG TIME
Avatar n tn -( 3 days on valsartan and I was having horrible side effects of dizziness, rapid heart rate, general feeling of crappiness, even slight shortness of breath with the slightest exertion None of which I experienced with the benazepril. Called the dr, he told me to stop the valsartan, don't take anything for 2 days and then back on the benazepril and see him next week.
Avatar m tn I am 33 year male having hypertension from 3 years taking telmisartan 40 mg from last two years. Now my bp is under control comes under 130/85. I had urine albumin excretion test three times result shows between 100 to 75 mg/dl albumin excretion ( 24 hour urine albumin test on submission of around 1.5 liter urine). The normal values shows in lab report is up to excretion of 150 mg/dl/ .My serum creatinine level comes between 0.8 to 1.0 and urea under 20.
Avatar n tn Your creatinine is still high because you likely have chronic kidney disease from the hypertension. The Telmisartan-HCTZ that was given will not make your creatinine low, it is to treat your hypertension and prevent further damage to your kidneys. It is also possible you have some protein in your urine which the Telmisartan helps to reduce. Also, Telmisartan can cause a slight increase in your creatinine but it is usually not a very significant increase.
459164 tn?1206363843 Hi, there is no such information which conclusively states that valsartan may cause cellulitis or increase its intensity or duration. Have you taken valsartan and also have a concurrent skin infection? If yes, have you talked to your doctor about it and taken any medication for it? Please keep us posted and let us know if you have any other queries.
Avatar m tn p in my 19 14mnths bck at that time my b.p was 230/124 its over 200 fo 3 days then i started using telmisartan 40mg nd meoprolol 25mg bt my bp ranged 150-160/104-115 fo 8 mnths in btwen i was evaluated for 2ndry causes of hyp no resns wer found doc said its essenstial hyp then doc incresd telmisartan to 80 mg my systolic came to 140 mm/hg bt diastolic still ranging 100-110 why is it so high nd how to regulate it ?
Avatar m tn My new VA doctor wants to change one of my blood pressure medications from 160 mg of Valsartan 2 times per day to an equivalent dose of 100 mg of Losartan but only once per day. My blood pressure has been controlled for years with typical readings around 118/70 using the Valsartan, Amlodipine 5mg, and a diuretic (hydrochlorothiazide 25mg). I have not made the change yet. 1. Why should I agree to experiment with reducing my primary blood pressure medication and what are the risks?
Avatar f tn I am so confused because I have too many issues that can cause the same symptoms. Recently, my doctor switched me from Valsartan HCTZ to Hydrochlorothiazide plus regular Valsartan for my blood pressure. When I first started it, right away I was having rapid heart beat and shortness of breath so he told me take potassium supplements. That did help but now I am wondering if I am taking too much potassium.
Avatar n tn I've taken Valsartan since 2010 successfully. It controls my BP well.
Avatar m tn My BP stays around 170/100. Highest was recorded 176/110. I have been on Telmisartan 40mg for few weeks but it killed my sex drive entirely. I stopped taking it & gradually recovered from low libido. Also i've noticed a general decline in libido & an onset of ED after i crossed age 40. Now my libido is not that strong as it used to be 4 years back even without medicine.
Avatar n tn Could this be the problem of my high blood pressure. Recently I was put on Valsartan HCT and I feel awful. Tired spaced cold...
Avatar m tn Good ones are candesartan, telmisartan, valsartan. Depending on your body size you may need to take a maximal dose or even more than a maximal dose if you are a big person. (When I say maximal dose I refer to the maximum dose approved by the United States Food & Drug Administration; this info is available on the internet for each type of ARB.) High-dose ARBs can stop or even reverse aortic root dilatation. 3) Does COQ10 help + good diet in reversing it by even 3-4 mm?
Avatar m tn Also, she is patient of high blood pressure. She is on bloog sugar medications like Metformin, Glimipride and Telmisartan, Amlodipine tablets for high bp Daily. Now, she has many complications of Diabetes including Diabetes Neuropathy, eyes issues like cataracts, osteoarthritis etc. she also has complications in her back/spine. Now, her doctor has not recommend any special multivitamin apart from diabetic die,t.
Avatar m tn And losartan is really not the best ARB from what I understand. Try max dose or higher of candesartan, valsartan, or telmisartan.
548642 tn?1266179652 angiotensin II receptor antagonists such as candesartan (Atacand), eprosartan (Teveten), irbesartan (Avapro), losartan (Cozaar), olmesartan (Benicar), telmisartan (Micardis), and valsartan (Diovan); antacids such as sodium bicarbonate; caffeine (found in certain medications to treat drowsiness and headaches); calcium channel blockers such as amlodipine (Norvasc), diltiazem (Cardizem, Dilacor, Tiazac, others), felodipine (Plendil), isradipine (DynaCirc), nicardipine (Cardene), nifedipine (Adalat,
Avatar m tn And consider angiotensin receptor blockers like telmisartan or valsartan (high doses necessary) to stabilize or reverse the dilatation. Read my old posts or use Google to learn about this. There's research out of Johns Hopkins on it (dr Dietz).
Avatar f tn You take metoprolol, diltiazem, enalapril and telmisartan. The first two agents address primarily heart rate (HR) but are not great blood pressure (BP) drugs. Speaking of HR, what is the reason that you see an electrophysiologist? Atrial fibrillation? and are you feeling poorly when your heart rate is 40s?
514349 tn?1272801633 //www.webmd.com/hypertension-high-blood-pressure/valsartan-losatran-bp-med-recalls-2018-19. Basically, the risk is 'very small'. If 8,000 people took the medication that had the NDEA in it every single day for 4 years, there might be ONE case of cancer in those 8,000 people. But since it can happen, they recalled it. And hey, I'd not want to take a drug that had potential cancer risk associated with it. So, I wouldn't be too worried over all.
