micardis

Avatar f tn and 145 lbs and still not done growing. His Dr. is communicating with Dr. Dietz at Johns Hopkins in regards to Losartan. Does anyone have any input on this drug with a teen? Or does anyone have a child in this type of situation? Any input would be comforting to me.
Avatar n tn If your aorta is dilated and is continuing to dilate, or if you strongly suspect Marfan Syndrome, please do some Google research on a class of drugs called ARBs, such as losartan. These drugs have shown immense benefit to patients with aortic disease. The huge majority of patients thus far have shown healed aortas with drastically reduced incidences of dissection, decrease in aortic root size, stability in aortic root size, increased aortic flexibility, etc.
336017 tn?1263579257 the best ARB to take is probably telmisartan because of its high tissue penetration. The best ACE inhibitor to take is perindopril. Some other ARBs and ACE inhibitors may work less effectively or not at all (some ARBs I know to be good - besides telmisartan - are valsartan, irbesartan, candesartan. Most of them are good EXCEPT for losartan, which is a surmountable antagonist and, theoretically, would lose its effect over time). Next fact: you need to take a high dose.
Avatar n tn Personally, I take valsartan, but my friends have experienced similar success (or better) with candesartan, telmisartan, losartan (although this drug is surmountable and thus theoretically not the best one to take), irbesartan, and, for ACE inhibitors, perindopril.
Avatar n tn THIS is the problem with most cardiologists today. They routinely prescribe beta blockers for patients with aortic root dilatation, even though the most recent studies have shown that they DO NOT HELP YOU. Beta blockers are prescribed because they make sense on paper, but in practice, they are absolutely useless. These doctors are also grossly behind the times. I don't know whether they are ignorant of the latest, big-news breakthroughs or just unwilling to try them.
Avatar m tn I'm a 42 male with BAV. My first echo in 2008 noted a 3.6 aortic root, 2009 3.8. An October 19, 20011 came in at 4.4. A MRI was ordered two days later and the root was 4.1x3.7. I also had a wisdom tooth pulled on 10/14/11 and I began to think maybe it was just inflammation due to the pulled tooth. My Doc immediately dismissed that theory. Also the MRI rated my regurgitation as mild and not the mild/moderate I had been told previously.
Avatar m tn IS THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS TAKING COMBINATION OF TELMISARTAN &AMLODIPINE FOR LONG TIME
Avatar n tn The Telmisartan-HCTZ that was given will not make your creatinine low, it is to treat your hypertension and prevent further damage to your kidneys. It is also possible you have some protein in your urine which the Telmisartan helps to reduce. Also, Telmisartan can cause a slight increase in your creatinine but it is usually not a very significant increase.
Avatar m tn Your blood pressure, urea and creatinine levels are within the normal range. Also, you are on telmisartan, belongs to the class of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors which may decrease the rate of decline in kidney function. However, levels of microalbuminuria above 30 are indicative of early kidney disease. Am not clear about the normal ranges specified by your lab. So, please discuss the possibilities with your doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn p was 230/124 its over 200 fo 3 days then i started using telmisartan 40mg nd meoprolol 25mg bt my bp ranged 150-160/104-115 fo 8 mnths in btwen i was evaluated for 2ndry causes of hyp no resns wer found doc said its essenstial hyp then doc incresd telmisartan to 80 mg my systolic came to 140 mm/hg bt diastolic still ranging 100-110 why is it so high nd how to regulate it ?
Avatar m tn After my 6 months check up my pressure was still the same so he increased my Losartan to 100-12.5 and a few weeks after I would get readings of 130 /80 sometimes and others I would get 129/78. But some days I am not sure if this is a side effect of the losartan but I would feel a bit dizzy and I not sure what's going on and I been dealing with ED so the week before Thanksgiving I got frustrated and stop taking the meds.
Avatar m tn We need to know the reference ranges of the T3 and T4 tests. Ranges vary lab to lab, so must come from your own lab report. We also need to know if the tests are Free T3 and Free T4 or if they are Totals, which aren't the same. 100 mcg - is that levothyroxine? - is a large dose to start with. It's customary to start with a small dosage for a few weeks, then retest and work up slowly, as needed.
Avatar f tn And for some reason it seams like it is not going down, so I went to the ER and they increased my amlodipine to 10mg and adv me to contact my primary dr that following week. Called the dr that next week and he increased my losartan to 100 mg and amlodipine to 10 mg, 1 each per day. However it seems like my bp is still hanging out around the upper 180's. I take Vyvanse and also duloxetine 1 time daily also, could those be helping my bp stay high?
Avatar f tn Hallo there -anyone and everyone. Is there any reasons to prefer or take losartan above olmesartan or the olmesartan above losartan. Person taking these is african, 57 years, female and oh, my mother.
Avatar m tn His averaged blood pressure is 146/80. He was placed on losartan potassium (50 mg) for 8 days but there is no change to his averaged blood pressure. Would you advice him continuing losartan or seek new drugs? Many thanks. Avatar m tn How long have you been taking Losartan? We encourage you to check back in iwth your doctor about this to discuss. Here is a list of side effects associated with Losartan. https://www.drugs.com/sfx/losartan-side-effects.html Uncommonly, ear congestion and hearing loss occur. But you are describing hypersensitivity. Losartan is associated for some with tremor. I would wonder if the sound issue is not related to a bit of anxiety.
Avatar m tn My GP put me on Lisinopril last year but switched me to Losartan after the Lisinopril failed to help. The Losartan brought my BP down a lot with a 50 mg daily dose. I was down to 110/70 and even 100/65 at times. I even got light-headed when I stood up quickly. The GP said this was normal and good. He likes my BP to be well below 120/80. So far so good. I was getting the Losartan from Walgreens as a 30 day supply.
548642 tn?1266179652 ve had a previous addiction to opiates in any form, then you may need to proceed with caution. Opiates are known to replicate the virus. You really need to talk this over with your doctor. Unfortunately I was exposed to a litany of drugs as a youth 1968-69. Environmentally they were all around me, I happened to be one of a handful to become addicted. First I had a habit of taking codeine #4 and reds, I don't even know if they still make those.
Avatar m tn I was on losartan for a few months. I don't think that my bp was consistenlty high. I think what was going on was that it was very up and down and it was making me feel pretty bad. But losartan which is a third line for bp was the first thing that they put me on. And I don't think my bp was that bad. I have had elevated renin/aldosterone studies and low potassium in the past.
Avatar m tn I have been on Losartan for approximately eight months come here recently I have found it very difficult to swallow my food and seems like he gets caught in my esophagus, yesterday at two different Meals I began to choke on my food I had to drink several glasses of water in order to get my food to go down with no issues. Could this be a side effect of Losartan?
Avatar n tn I recommend you take your blood pressure (hopefully you have a home monitor). If it's been a couple hours from when you normally take your pill, the pill should be working and your blood pressure should look like the pill is doing its job. But if your blood pressure is very high when you take it whereas it is normally normal with medication, it's a strong possibility you skipped taking it.
Avatar f tn t had any other problems with Lisinopril besides the cough and I am scared to change meds and take the chance of worse side effects. I am just wondering if anybody has any thoughts on Lisinopril vs Losartan to help me decide if I should change meds. Thanks!!!
Avatar n tn uk - A blood-pressure medicine, losartan (Cozaar®), has been shown to reverse the effects of early-stage liver failure in some patients, possibly through decreasing the effects of NF-kB in the body. Newcastle University researchers analysed a small clinical trial of losartan, a drug normally prescribed for hypertension, on 14 patients in Spain, who had Hepatitis C.
Avatar m tn My BP stays around 170/100. Highest was recorded 176/110. I have been on Telmisartan 40mg for few weeks but it killed my sex drive entirely. I stopped taking it & gradually recovered from low libido. Also i've noticed a general decline in libido & an onset of ED after i crossed age 40. Now my libido is not that strong as it used to be 4 years back even without medicine.
Avatar m tn By the way, Pat, regardless of whether you have Marfan Syndrome or not, you might Google "losartan" and "Marfan Syndrome" to read articles on this topic. I don't think losartan is the best ARB, but it's the one being used in the current studies. All ARBs seem to work, some better than others. Efficacy is usually dose-dependent.
