Telmisartan hydrochlorothiazide dose

Common Questions and Answers about Telmisartan hydrochlorothiazide dose

micardis

Avatar n tn My doctor put me on a medicine called Micardis HCT which is a combination medication with the common diuretic hydrochlorothiazide and the drug telmisartan. This is the first time I have been on blood pressure medicine, and the drug has worked very well in terms of my blood pressure itself. I take my pressure at home with an electric blood pressure monitor and I now average about 130 over 72 to 75.
Avatar f tn I'm presently on atenolol 40 mg (along with hydrochlorothiazide) once daily. I will be transitioning to propanolol 20 mg (and hydrochlorothiazide) twice daily soon - my doctor wants me to transition by taking propanolol - 1/2 of 20 mg twice a day for one week and then the full 20 mg twice daily. Why? Won't that cause rebound hypertension? Thanks.
Avatar m tn I am on these medicine for last 15 years except Telmisartan which i am taking for last one year and have reduced dose of Atenolol from 50 mg (BD) to 25 mg (OD) PLEASE HELP.
336017 tn?1263579257 you need to take a high dose. The average sized person, to see any effect, would need to take a maximum FDA-approved dose (for telmisartan I believe this is 80mg/day or, if you take perindopril, I think it's 8mg/day). If you are significantly bigger than the average sized person (body surface area = 2.1+), you need to consider taking higher-than-max doses.
Avatar m tn IS THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS TAKING COMBINATION OF TELMISARTAN &AMLODIPINE FOR LONG TIME
Avatar f tn My bp immediately went up so he had me resume full dose and instead cut cardizem in half. That was about 4 days ago. It seemed to be working ok until last night. At 8:30 p.m. bp was 108/67. I woke up around 2 a.m. with a headache on back right side of head plus shoulder pain. I have fibromyalgia so assumed it was from that. By 4 a.m when I took my dog out I decided to check bp. It was 190/106 heartrate 83. I take my meds at 5:30 a.m. so laid back down and retook bp before I took meds.
Avatar m tn I am 33 year male having hypertension from 3 years taking telmisartan 40 mg from last two years. Now my bp is under control comes under 130/85. I had urine albumin excretion test three times result shows between 100 to 75 mg/dl albumin excretion ( 24 hour urine albumin test on submission of around 1.5 liter urine). The normal values shows in lab report is up to excretion of 150 mg/dl/ .My serum creatinine level comes between 0.8 to 1.0 and urea under 20.
Avatar n tn Your creatinine is still high because you likely have chronic kidney disease from the hypertension. The Telmisartan-HCTZ that was given will not make your creatinine low, it is to treat your hypertension and prevent further damage to your kidneys. It is also possible you have some protein in your urine which the Telmisartan helps to reduce. Also, Telmisartan can cause a slight increase in your creatinine but it is usually not a very significant increase.
1243333 tn?1296446902 t on the maximal dose of Norvasc which is 10mg and the highest dose of Valturna then your physicians should probably start another bp agent such as Hydrochlorothiazide or increase the cattapress patch. Why are you on spironolactone? Do you have heart failure?
Avatar m tn t make much sense unless you are having side effects. A risk of a larger dose vs. smaller dose may be the reason...less toxicity in the system.
Avatar n tn I stopped the hydrochlorothiazide and am stopping the Atenolol by reducing the dose by 1/2 for 7 days to 12-1/2 mg, then reducing to 6-1/4 mg for another 7 days, then stopping it altogether. I plan on using the elliptical to exercise on, which has lowered my blood pressure in the past; but now I don't know what effects Atenolol has had on my heart long term. Do not trust Doctors or Medication that can screw you up for the rest of your life!!

1398693 tn?1343684738 My Dr. prescribed Hydrochlorothiazide for my HBP on Saturday I started it and after 3 days I’m finding that I am getting more dizzy and I can’t stand without holding on to something also the ringing in my ears is louder than in the past couple of days. Is it supposed to be like this? Having High Blood is new to me and I’ve never felt this way before.
Avatar f tn I was started on metoprolol for the bp but the dr kept increasing the dose. Also i had a hysterctomy in 2006. my gynec confirmed that i was menopausal after the tests. Bp was still not getting controlled and i was started on telmisartan and also amlodepin along with the metoprolol. The bp was then controlled well for about 3 months, however the anxiety continued. Since the last week my bp is also increasing to 140/90 along with the anxiety and also i am experiencing what i think is hot flashes.
Avatar f tn All the handouts say that if you are taking hydrochlorothiazide ("water pill") to advise your doctor and the lab techs about this since it will affect thyroid test results. Have tried to research this - but have come up empty thus far. Will try to consult a local pharmacist tomorrow. Am wondering since in labs done less than 3 weeks apart I went from high TSH (11.7) to low TSH (0.03). Primary care manager said it MUST have been due to me missing a synthroid dose.
Avatar n tn My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?
Avatar n tn I have been taking Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide (HTCZ) for high blood pressure since May 2007. Recently I have a feeling that the Hydrochlorothiazide is not working as it used to be. Will HCTZ lose its effectiveness after a certain number of years? Anyone know the answer or having similar experience, please let me know. Thank You In Advance For Your Reply.
Avatar m tn My BP stays around 170/100. Highest was recorded 176/110. I have been on Telmisartan 40mg for few weeks but it killed my sex drive entirely. I stopped taking it & gradually recovered from low libido. Also i've noticed a general decline in libido & an onset of ED after i crossed age 40. Now my libido is not that strong as it used to be 4 years back even without medicine.
Avatar n tn m trying to get pregnant and after a week and a half I had elevated liver enzymes and fever so I went off that drug. I have now been on Hydrochlorothiazide for about a week and it is controlling my bp very well. However, I have noticed that my resting pulse has been steadily getting higher since I have been testing my bp at home with a monitor cuff. Going back through all my readings I am usually around 75-85 bpm but since I got on the diuretic I am never lower than 90 and frequently 100-106.
Avatar n tn he had me take 25 mg once per day for three weeks and then for 4 days take .5 of the 25 mg tablet once per day. I took my last dose yesterday. Does this sound correct? What effect will this have on my feeling if any? Is it ok to continue to work out cardio ?
1987593 tn?1326675862 Definitely see your doctor. It sounds to me like something I go through, but usually mine is just during the summer. I get water retention something awful in both of my feet and legs. It even affects my hands and arms. My doctor put me on hydrochlorothiazide to take during the times of my period. I'm thinking about asking either for something else or see if we should up my dose since I only take it for 10 days each month. Definitely see your doc.
Avatar m tn I AM TAKING HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE 25MG. I HAVE BEEN TAKEN THEM FOR 3 YRS NOW. THIS MEDICATION JUST STOP WORKING. MY DOCTOR WANTS TO ADD ANOTHER MEDICATION FOR ME TO TAKE. DOES THIS EVER GET BETTER. STAYS THE SAME OR DO THE MEDICATION YOU ARE TAKE ALWAYS GET ADJUSTED. UNTIL YOU ARE TAKEN 10 DIFFERENT MEDICATION. This discussion is related to blood presure medication.
Avatar m tn t keep up with the research in many cases, and this is one such case. **High-dose** ARBs (e.g., telmisartan, valsartan) and ACE inhibitors (e.g., perindopril) have been shown to be extremely effective in halting aortic enlargement, as long as a sufficiently high dose is used (i.e., maximum FDA-approved dose). Do the research and demand that your doctor read it and re-evaluate his/her recommendation of beta blockers, or find a doctor who actually keeps up with the latest research.
