Telmisartan hctz

Common Questions and Answers about Telmisartan hctz

micardis

Avatar n tn Your creatinine is still high because you likely have chronic kidney disease from the hypertension. The Telmisartan-HCTZ that was given will not make your creatinine low, it is to treat your hypertension and prevent further damage to your kidneys. It is also possible you have some protein in your urine which the Telmisartan helps to reduce. Also, Telmisartan can cause a slight increase in your creatinine but it is usually not a very significant increase.

Avatar m tn I have been on cozaar for 15 years. 4 years ago I was also placed on HCTZ, due to increasing BP. 7 weeks ago, after getting quarterly labs done, my PCP said my calcium was too high and took me off the HCTZ. She also said my TSH levels were high and placed me on synthroid. Last week I had office visit and my BP was 150/90. My doctor then put me on metaprolol. I started getting headaches every day. My BP remained at 150 to 160 over 90 to 100.
Avatar f tn I've been lactating and wasn't sure if I was pregnant. My doctor did a blood test to see if I was and also did a hormone test to see why I was lactating if by chance I wasn't pregnant. Also at that visit she put me on hctz because I've been retaining water and wanted me to take it every other day. She called yesterday morning to let me know that I am in fact pregnant, this was after I had just taken the hctz. She of course toldme not to take it anymore..
Avatar f tn I had a problem before with Potassium loss from HCTZ. I was taken off of it when I went to the emergency ward, for certain symptons. My pressure is fine now unless Im in a Dr.s office. .... Now I take Fosinopril 40 and Verapamil 80 twice a day which is working perfectly.. The last docter wanted to try me on HCTZ once more telling me to drink alot of orange juice. After a month of taking it he realized I dont need them. My pressure goes up with anxiety of docters.
Avatar m tn My BP stays around 170/100. Highest was recorded 176/110. I have been on Telmisartan 40mg for few weeks but it killed my sex drive entirely. I stopped taking it & gradually recovered from low libido. Also i've noticed a general decline in libido & an onset of ED after i crossed age 40. Now my libido is not that strong as it used to be 4 years back even without medicine.
Avatar f tn Went to Doctor on Wednesday. I've been lactating and suspect pregnancy but maybe not. Dr. put me on HCTZ for fluid retention cause I've gained 20 lbs since January and also did lab work to see if pregnant and check my hormones to see if I'm not pregnant why I would be lactating. Got a call Friday- she said I'm pregnant- stop taking HCTZ. I had already made an appointment with my other Dr.
Avatar n tn I am a 43 year old hypopara patient. I used HCTZ for 10 years to control my blood calcium. Last year, I got one morning and my heart rate when up to 128. My endo took me off HCTZ and my internal put me on Lopressor. I contued having a high heart rate after HCTZ was out of my system. This year, I was put back on HCTZ due to high urine calcium content but I could not tolerate the drug at all.
Avatar f tn I've never had a history of high blood pressure until recently after a sudden death in the family. I've been put in Lisinopril 10 mg for one week and now on Lisinopril 10mg with Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) 12.5 because it wasn't dropping as low as the PCM wanted (128/90s). I've read a lot of horror stories of HCTZ causing severe visual problems such as closed-angle glaucoma and other vision losses. Has anyone experienced this with BP medications such as the one mentioned?
Avatar f tn On May 12, I stopped taking HCTZ. I had read that some had had problems with HCTZ and sweating. Gradually, I seemed to have less sweating. Also, the feeling of being hot most of the time seemed to lessen. It is summer, and I do get hot, but others are hot, also. When I do sweat, it seems like a more normal sweat. I don't have sweat pouring down my face and into my eyes as much as I did, and my clothes don't become as wet.
Avatar f tn Yes, it is true that you will not necessarily have a reaction to HCTZ if you have a sulfa allergy. A small percentage of people (< 15%) do have cross-reactivity to HCTZ when they have a sulfa allergy. If you have had a severe reaction to sulfa antibiotics then we would probably recommend avoiding HCTZ.
Avatar m tn Also, she is patient of high blood pressure. She is on bloog sugar medications like Metformin, Glimipride and Telmisartan, Amlodipine tablets for high bp Daily. 336017 tn?1263579257 the best ARB to take is probably telmisartan because of its high tissue penetration. The best ACE inhibitor to take is perindopril. Some other ARBs and ACE inhibitors may work less effectively or not at all (some ARBs I know to be good - besides telmisartan - are valsartan, irbesartan, candesartan. Most of them are good EXCEPT for losartan, which is a surmountable antagonist and, theoretically, would lose its effect over time). Next fact: you need to take a high dose.
Avatar m tn i am on diovan 360mg twice a day, betaxolo 10mg and hctz 25 mg. and i cannot loose weight, I have gained 20 lobs after taking the hctz for a year or more. Not matter how little I eat or how much i exercise I gain. I have tried stopping the hctz and then my bp shoot up. Help!!!
Avatar f tn You take metoprolol, diltiazem, enalapril and telmisartan. The first two agents address primarily heart rate (HR) but are not great blood pressure (BP) drugs. Speaking of HR, what is the reason that you see an electrophysiologist? Atrial fibrillation? and are you feeling poorly when your heart rate is 40s?
Avatar f tn According to the labs I went from hypo to hyper - during the time period I was on hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ or HCT). The Endocrinology Department allegedly told her that missing a day or two of Synthroid would explain why I went HYPER. Geeesh. Does not compute. Found out I am allergic to HCTZ (they were supposed to have caught that since I have documented six ways to Sunday about almost dying from a sulfa drug and HCTZ is a thiazide (thi = sulfur).
Avatar m tn So, my cardio took me off of the ramipril and put me on 12.5 mg of metoprolol twice a day and in addition to my 12.5 of HCTZ. However, after a week of feeling exhausted, having a resting heart rate consistently in the low 50s, and not much higher otherwise, I complained during my follow up. My cardio gave me some samples of 10 mg coreg to take once a day and a prescription to fill if the side effects from the metoprolol do not get any better.
Avatar f tn m a 60 year old female taking Lotrel 5/20 and 25 mg Spironolactone for hypertension. (I started on HCTZ, however, after 3 months I developed a vascular rash on my arms which my doctor said was a reaction to the HCTZ and the sun so he switched me to Spironolactone). My BP has come down too low....I was getting readings of 98/58...so my doctor told me to take the Spironolactone only 2X per week. Would it be more effective for me to take 1/2 tablet everyday rather than a whole pill twice a week?
