Avatar f tn Recently my electrophysiologist had me cut metropol in half as my heart rate was consistently running in low 40s. My bp immediately went up so he had me resume full dose and instead cut cardizem in half. That was about 4 days ago. It seemed to be working ok until last night. At 8:30 p.m. bp was 108/67. I woke up around 2 a.m. with a headache on back right side of head plus shoulder pain. I have fibromyalgia so assumed it was from that. By 4 a.m when I took my dog out I decided to check bp.

This is the first time I have been on blood pressure medicine, and the drug has worked very well in terms of my blood pressure itself. I take my pressure at home with an electric blood pressure monitor and I now average about 130 over 72 to 75.

Avatar n tn Your creatinine is still high because you likely have chronic kidney disease from the hypertension. The Telmisartan-HCTZ that was given will not make your creatinine low, it is to treat your hypertension and prevent further damage to your kidneys. It is also possible you have some protein in your urine which the Telmisartan helps to reduce. Also, Telmisartan can cause a slight increase in your creatinine but it is usually not a very significant increase.
Avatar f tn Hydrochlorothiazine is a diuretic and also use for BP control. Again same question is your BP high and uncontrolled? If you can address weight and exercise the need for this may be reduced. Meloxicam is a non steroidal anti-inflammatory. It is used to treat the pain from rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis. Do you have either of these conditions? If not, and if your pain levels are manageable, you may ask your dr about discontinuing this drug.
Avatar f tn meanwhile i had a fight with mother and felt tightness in the chest so when to a doc and he said my blood pressure is high and put me telmisartan 40mg so i am wondering whether my bp high could have a withdrawal symptom. does that need be corrected by bp meds.
Avatar n tn and about 175 pounds (English - and I assume you are using feet and inches for your height) is still overweight. It may be if you can lose another 10 kg your BP will drop into a safe range.
336017 tn?1263579257 the best ARB to take is probably telmisartan because of its high tissue penetration. The best ACE inhibitor to take is perindopril. Some other ARBs and ACE inhibitors may work less effectively or not at all (some ARBs I know to be good - besides telmisartan - are valsartan, irbesartan, candesartan. Most of them are good EXCEPT for losartan, which is a surmountable antagonist and, theoretically, would lose its effect over time). Next fact: you need to take a high dose.
Avatar m tn Hi - this forum has been extremely helpful to me. Thanks to everyone who posts and responds and thanks in advance to anyone who's able to provide me with any information. I'm 33 and was recently told by a cardiologist that my aorta was "barely enlarged" at 4.0cm after an echocardiogram (and EKG stress test, which was normal). He did not seem overly concerned, gave me no limits on exercise, and said we'd check again in a year to monitor growth.
Avatar m tn I never stop breathing or strain, it is constant breathing. Your BP will still increase, but the increase will be a lot less than when you use the Valsalva. And wear a heart rate monitor when you lift, so that your rate stays down. If you have a lifting BP of let's say 160/100 and your HR is 110, that is obviously worse than if your lifting BP is 160/100 and your HR is 80. There's more strain on the aortic wall. Lifting light weights *****, you say. Well, maybe not.
Avatar f tn i have consulted a doc who just said to stop taking it (but i intend to taper it off) he has put on bp meds (telmisartan tab. 40 mg)since he said it is high (146/96).
