Avatar f tn Problems with breathing (Obstructive sleep apnea), certain medications, restless leg movements, teeth grinding and sleep walking/talking could contribute to insomnia. Grinding teeth while sleeping is called bruxism. This can occur due to malocclusion of teeth or due to psychological stress. In adults sleep talking could be associated with stress, anxiety or other sleep disorders. Sleep deprivation and stress are known to aggravate these symptoms.
Avatar f tn This could be caused by sleep apnea, teeth grinding, restless sleep, or even restless leg syndrome. Sleep apnea is a very common sleep disorder wherein you stop breathing numerous times during the night causing the brain to wake you just sufficiently to start your breathing again, but you are not aware of being woken. This results in very light and disturbed sleep which often means that you wake in the morning with a headache and tiredness.
Avatar f tn I also find that during the night, he snores all the time, but then stops breathing for almost a minute and then takes a really big breath,or I have to shake him so he wakes up. His mother has sleep apnea. does he have sleep apnea too? please help!
Avatar f tn Any head injury may cause teeth grinding. I had a TBI and I am not sure I am grinding my teeth in sleep (bcuz I wake up with dizziness, headache, fatigue everyday/all day) but planning to go to a TMJ specialist at some point.
Avatar n tn About a year ago I started clenching my jaw and grinding my teeth in my sleep. I realized I was doing this after waking up a few mornings with horrible headaches and pain in my jaw. My dentist fitted me for a mouth guard (which I wear every night) and then things seemed a little better. Well for the past 2 months I feel like I am doing it more than ever. I wear the mouth guard every night but I am waking up with jaw pain. Is there anything else I can do or take to alleviate this?
Avatar n tn I have been grinding my teeth at night when I sleep and it is causing jaw and tooth pain. I recently went to the dentist where we discussed a custom made mouth piece that I would wear at night. The only problem is that it cost about $800.00!!! There is anohter mouth piece that they can make that is a "lesser model" that is about $300.00.
Avatar n tn the amount of pressure in night time grinding is what wears our joints and cracks our teeth. i cant tell you what to do but you need to discuss this with a dentist and if he suggests only wearing it during the day GET A SECOND OPINION!! if you get the splint issue worked out and you have pain in the muscles in the face and jaw sometimes physical therapy will help. good luck and let me know what happens.
Avatar n tn my 5 year old son grinds his teeth in his sleep really hard, so you can hear the sound, why?
10069532 tn?1407594111 You can get a sports mouth guard and boil it and mold it to fit your teeth and then wear it to bed. The dentist told me to do that for my Fiance instead of getting them made specially for him.

2094952 tn?1334015457 My 4 month old Maltese is grinding his teeth or something. It is almost like he has a plastic pop cap in his mouth and he is biting down on it.
Avatar n tn About ten years ago, I had terrible migraines and was diagnosed with sleep apnea. I underwent surgery and the migraines decreased dramatically. Several years ago, I started to get daily headaches. We tried a number of things until finally, my dentist noticed that I was grinding my teeth. I was fitted for a night guard and again my headaches decreased. One problem that has not gone away is my constant problems whenever there is a weather change.
1546631 tn?1321643204 I have been clenching my jaw and grinding my teeth since i was a kid. I have tmj. And no padding left in my jaw therefore it pops everytime i open my mouth or chew. It can be really painful. Yes my ns told me its chiari related. Go to rite aid and get a mouthpiece. You boil it and fit it to your teeth for nighttime. Way cheaper than one from dentist. It didnt work for me because im not comfy sleepin with it in my mouth. But maybe it will help you. There is no fix for tmj.
Avatar n tn They are effective for mild to moderate sleep apnea and are relatively easy to use. Side effects include soreness, nausea or some damage to the position of the jaw, and teeth. You should consult a trained dental professional that specializes in sleep apnea or orthodontist to fit these devices. A regular follow-up is needed to prevent any side effects. http://www.umm.edu/patiented/articles/what_dental_devices_used_treat_sleep_apnea_000065_9.htm http://www.helpguide.org/life/sleep_apnea.
1445161 tn?1312085507 So, I don't know if this is the right place but here goes.. I'm 22 yr old female. Iv'e been grinding my teeth very hard since I was a kid only in my sleep. It gives me so much pain when I wake and also I notice that it weakens my teeth. I read that the only treatment is Botox. I also think that all these years of grinding has made my jaw muscles larger and it just looks big and unappealing to me. Am I right? Can you please tell me more about this?
Avatar n tn I have habit of teeth crunching or teeth grinding during sleep in thenight...how can it be stopped?
Avatar f tn My mother is in the 7th stage of her Alzheimer's and started grinding her teeth on a regular basis but won't allow anything to be put in her mouth like a mouth guard and if we were to try gum she would probably swallow it as she seems to swallow everything that she puts in her mouth these days and we have tried to entertain her at the extended care facility - but her attention span is very short these days. Any other suggestions????
Avatar n tn Dyskinesia improved. 1.5 month ago, teeth grinding started day and night. She is now taking 3 per day sinemet 25/175, 25/175, 25/100 (9 am, 1pm, 5:30pm), and Requip 0.125 every other day(9pm). Teeth grinding improved 50% at least (5:30pm sinemet uses low dosage because it looks like impact her falling into sleep even with Rozerem. She used to be able to fall into sleep quickly when took 25/100, but cannot for increased dosage).
1336491 tn?1340619541 This is also seen frequently in people with Sleep Apnea, as they tend to brux and grind their teeth and use the inside of their mouth as a "self splint". Another prominent factor that can be noted is the use of certain anti-anxiety medications (like Cymbalta), which are also frequently used for fibromyalgia, MS, arthritis and other issues cause a dis-kinetic muscle response and thus involuntary clenching and grinding occurs.
Avatar m tn ve had chronic tailbone pain for years. I have sleep apnea and use a CPAP machine and I have a mouth guard because I grind my teeth at night (yes I've just had the guard checked by my dentist. It's working perfectly). I've lost 40 pounds since the surgery so that's helped my apnea a lot. This pain scares me terribly because at it's worst in November I was a total zombie. I literally was so tired I don't remember entire parts of days!
Avatar n tn I am having 4 teeth removed on Friday morning. I grind my teeth at night and am concerned this will reopen the blood clots while I sleep. Should I be concerned?
Avatar m tn Went to the doctor. She says my stomach is inflamed. Sometimes when your stomach is sore you feel it in your back. It explains why the pain was there and gone there and gone, it was the grinding motion of my stomach. And why I felt nauseous with lots of watery saliva and an acidy oesophagus. The sleep paralysis/apnea and palpitations are either from stress or it's hereditary. Something i'll need to ask my family about. Cheers for the advise.
977806 tn?1249067346 One (or both, who knows) of the TX drugs causes bruxism, grinding your teeth in your sleep. Think it's the riba. The grinding can make your jaw hurt in the morning. I ground through a gold crown on TX. See if your dentist can make you a biteguard (also called night guard) so you don't ruin your molars while saving your liver.
