I had agressive treatment with a combination of external radiation and Brachytherapy. I now on Uromax tablets (Tamsulosin Hydrochloride 0.4 mg) which is causing me severe pain when ejaculating. Please advice if there is anything I can as I am still very young.
Dynapress (Tamsulosin hydrochloride ) has a known effect upon ejaculation in some individuals. There is no damage as a result of this and the effect should reverse when you stop the medication. Thus, there is no need to stop the medicine.
The medication has been shown to result in a higher rate of spontaneous passage of ureteral stones (particularly the larger ones).

A doctor prescribed Amoxicillin 625mg + Tamsulosin medicine for 10 days to me. I have a side effect after taking Tamsulosin (Retrograde ejaculation) or any other ejaculation problem.
Is this normal or should I stop using Tamsulosin?
Or will it (Retrograde ejaculation ) recover after stop using ten days?
Should I keep getting Tamsulosin for 10 days or stop?
I am using Flowmax (Tamsulosin) for about 3 months for enlarged prostate. I started noticing my Testicles hang lower now and not tight anymore since I have been using this medication.. Could this be from the use of Tamsulosin?
As per the doctor’s advise, if I take medicines like ‘Uromax’ or ‘Maxrin’ (Tamsulosin Hydrochloride 0.4mg) I feel good but after taking 5-6 capsules, my sex goes tremendously down. So, I have stopped taking them.
B. Past History :
1) April/May, 1996 : Suddenly I was suffering from burning and obstruction in releasing urine. I was then 42 years old. Optical urethrotomy was done on 31.05.1996 on a wrong diagnosis considering stricture urethra. Thereafter, I did not feel comfort.

So now to my question, the urologist wants me to take two medications - generic names are tamsulosin 0.4mg and meloxicam 15mg. These were perscribed in place of Flomax and Celebrex in the hopes of reducing the inflammation and opening the neck of the bladder to release the urine now being held in my bladder. Should I take these meds even though the Flomax (tamsulosin) is not approved for women? Also considering my past medical history Im scared to take either meds, should I?
This problem is usually treated with the use of oral analgesics(pain killers) and tamsulosin is thought to play an important role in the relief of the pain and unfortunately how tamsulosin produces a relief is also not known.

I've been taking tamsulosin for 3 or 4 years now after my urologist prescribed it for BPH. I've slowly started having leakage issues lately where I will have a strong sudden urge to urinate and have a difficult time holding it until I can get to a toilet. Sometimes some urine leaks out and other times the urge will pass and I can wait before racing to the toilet.
At 65 I was told I was "late" in getting BPH, but as anyone knows, better late but not better than never with this one. Anyway, I have tried Epsom Salt baths and UrinoZinc, as I did not like Tamsulosin at all. It made my breathing labored, and I don't like the idea of Retrograde Ejaculation. I have had painful external orgasms and urination, and although my enlargement is not that bad-the Urologist told me it was .5 and had others at 1 and 1.
Hi i experience frequent urination urge and urine retention and tamsulosin quite help me but symptoms still persist.
Obstruction is a possibility also hinted, afaik, by a large urea/creatinine ratio in the urine. I am taking tamsulosin 0.4 mg/d and testing with my doctor 0.8 mg/d to check PVR. I have had regularly and also recently DREs which were all normal.
I am 56, otherwise healthy, moderately active, fit and eating a well balanced diet with relatively high protein intake (Zone).
Pain initially began as irritated foreskin. It was chronically sore and hurt. Seemed like it was always raw. From there, I experienced burning when ejaculating and sometimes peeing. This started over a year ago. Urologist took urine test/bacterial culture which was normal. No stds present. We tried tamsulosin which I stopped because I couldn't tell if it was doing anything (took for a couple weeks). He said I could try an oral anti fungal or some sort of antibiotic next if I wanted.
I have been put on metformin hydrochloride 500 twice a day to decrease sugar levels. hernia op delayed because of this. diabetic type 2 and had always controlled by diet but sugar count creeping in the mornings so told dr who issued prescription. have been on just over 2 weeks yet morning tests show very little decrease 7.2 to 8.00. Told to wait 6 weeks for reconsideration on op.
I know when they do blood test some sort of average is established so just morning count not all that is relevant.

In the mean time, while regularly consulting urologists, testing PSA, its velocity, doubling time and free %,, having lower abdomen scanning (CT and ultrasonography) I developed symptoms of BPH mainly shown as a very important post void residual (PVR, increasing from 100-200 to about 500mL). I am prescribed tamsulosin 0.4mg/d and doubling dose to 0.8mg/d but PVR remains very high and considering TURP or similar.
I went to the gym yesterday to workout (light workout) and the pain and swelling has returned. Also, I ejaculate very less after taking Urimax (Tamsulosin hydrochloride) 0.2. Is there a different medicine I could take? I have an appointment with the urologist tomorrow, as he had asked me to meet him after 7 days.
t taking Flomax (tamsulosin), you might ask your doctor for it -- it dilates the muscles of the distal ureter and helps stones pass quicker.
If you were my patient and needed ureteroscopy, I would not be likely to leave a stent. Studies show that in an uncomplicated ureteroscopy, a stent is probably not needed.
