Have you ever had the flu pregnant and how did it effect you and the baby? Also what did you take to treat it my Primary Dr. Wants me to take Tamiflu and im not comfortable with it.

I have been diagnosed with the flu type b on Monday. My fevere goes up and down but really doesn't stay down permanently. I am taking tamiflu, theraflu, Motrin as prescribed by the doctors. My throat feels ripped open and today I noticed that there is some blood in the phlegm that I cough up. Is this a sign of pneumonia?

Idk but my medication list from my obgyn says that for coughing take robitussin or rubitussin dm and for nasal congestion take sudafed, actifed, Tylenol sinus, Tylenol cold, sea salt spray, or normal saline spray :) hope that helps

One week ago I had a terrible flu and I took Theraflu for 3 days straight (about 13 packs). My question is is it going to affect my baby? What should I do? Is it possible to check my baby for any defects?

I am 5 weeks pregnant with my 3RD baby. I came down with a cold on Thursday. My cough is horrible and I have been running fevers a lot. I called my OB and she called in a RX for tamiflu. I've never been on it before but she assured me that it was safe. She said my cough may turn into pneumonia or bronchitis and that may be worse then taking the meds. I never went thru this with my boys so I'm a little unsure. I did research and it seems safe. What are others opinion on this.

My four-year-old grandson, who has leukemia, was just diagnosed with the flu despite having the shot this year. I also had the shot prior to my diagnosis. Obviously it doesn't cover strain B, which is what he has. My husband and I kept him until this morning so we have been exposed big time. Ugh, I feel awful. My head is all stopped up and my sinuses are draining down the back of my throat making my throat ache and my head ache. I'm not running a fever and (TMI) the snot is still clear so no infection. Just miserable. I have tried benadryl and sudafed, neither seems to be helping. I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and just found out I have the flu. My OB put me on Tamiflu but my primary said she wasn't sure about it. Has anyone been on this while pregnant? Yes I took tamiflu when I was pregnant with my son it's on the lowest scale for harming you or the baby. In other words its safe.

My OB called me and told me that as a prevention she wanted to put me on Tamiflu which is not recommended for pregnant women because the side effects are unknown. She said that the benefits would outweigh the negatives most likely because there have already been deaths linked to this strain of flu. The pharmacist didn't seem worried because I am 18 weeks along. Any of you ladies been put on tamiflu? Should I trust my doctor and pharmacist?

OB says to take Tamiflu and start today, but Tamiflu is not recommended for pregnancy based on unknown reactions to unborn children. Hubby and I don't know what decision is the best for us. Any opinions? The prescription is waiting for me...just so scared either way. I am leaning towards taking my chances and not taking it, but that is not the recommendation. What if I harm my baby by taking it? What if I do by not taking it??

Get to a doctor and get a tamiflu prescription asap if you test positive. It took me almost a month to recover.

Tamiflu is in no way safe during pregnancy. The risks outweigh the benefits I'm pretty sure.its class c. I had flu last January 7 months pregnant and they couldn't give me anything. But tell me to stay hydrated!!
