Tamiflu vaccine side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Tamiflu vaccine side effects

tamiflu

Avatar n tn Agree with vaccine & tamiflu. Influenza can be deadly, especially to high risk groups like moms, seniors, newborns. Be glad medicine is helping, rest, don't worry about side effects if OB prescribed.
Avatar f tn t know if that is good enough to fight off that nasty swine flu. I am also afraid if I do get the shot if I will have any bad side effects from it since I have heard of people having bad side effects from this too. I just want some input about this shot. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I got the H1N1 shot last month and had no side effects. It cheered me up so much to get it, I had been basically wincing every time anyone sneezed in the grocery store. I am someone who also got a seasonal flu vaccine at a time when I was pregnant, and had no side effects or issues from it, either. Unlike other flus, H1N1 (the illness, not the shot) has been very dangerous for pregnant women, so please don't take the threat lightly. The shot stings a little bit, is all I found.
172826 tn?1423422956 I got the shot and have had no side effects so far. My husband got the nasal mist and has had no side effects either.
Avatar n tn I have read information about their active ingredients and I would like to know if any asthmatic took the swine flu vaccine and if they did, did they have any side effects.
944080 tn?1298919453 So I was just wondering if anyone here has had it, and made it through okay? If so, did you have Tamiflu or not? My sons and husband had the H1n1 last week, and I called my Dr right away and got on Tamiflu, which prevented me from getting sick at all. Trust me, I was very unsure about taking the Tamiflu, but I felt it was better than ending up very sick or dead. I still worry about what adverse effects the drug might have on my unborn baby.
Avatar n tn I never heard of high dose and regular dose flu vaccine! Truth, getting the actual flu is rare. It sure stinks when you get it but most people have it one or two times in a LIFETIME. And NOW we have tamiflu. I'm sure if there are two options, I've only gotten the regular flu vaccine. I'm in my 50's. Two years ago, my son was very sick with a 105 temp. I took care of him and we went to the doctor in the morning.
688450 tn?1259468734 There is little information about the effect of antiviral drugs in pregnant women or their babies, but no serious side effects have been reported. If you do think you have had a side effect to antiviral drugs, call your doctor right away.
167 tn?1374173817 Oh Jen, what a dilema to be in. If it were me I would probably take the tamiflu. Part of the reason I am comfortable with it is that I have a huge amount of trust in my OB. I feel confident in her knowledge and comfortable with following her recommendations. I am more scared of the effects of H1N1 then the vaccine or tamiflu. That's me though and obviously you need to do what you feel is right.
Avatar f tn As a middle-aged adult I am thinking of getting pneumonia vaccine as well. My doctor thinks that the current vaccine - which protects against 23 specific strains of pneumonia - is probably not of much use to an adult because adults are typically stricken by strains of pneumonia not defended by the current vaccine.
Avatar f tn My OB called me and told me that as a prevention she wanted to put me on Tamiflu which is not recommended for pregnant women because the side effects are unknown. She said that the benefits would outweigh the negatives most likely because there have already been deaths linked to this strain of flu. The pharmacist didn't seem worried because I am 18 weeks along. Any of you ladies been put on tamiflu? Should I trust my doctor and pharmacist?
478429 tn?1265244387 Well, after going back and forth and debating whether or not I should get this vaccine has really been tough on me. I recieved my flu shot yesterday and asked the PA what he thought of the H1N1 vaccine. He said to me "Honestly, you really need to get it being pregnant...The mortality rate for pregnant woman is now up to 50% and the vaccine may also protect your baby once born which is good b/c infants are too young to receive the flu vaccines...
Avatar f tn s causing your symptoms. If you are concerned about the vaccine and potential side effects, talk to the doctor or clinic who administered it to you. Instead of taking a vaccine for a disease that isn't even present in your country, you would be better served by finding a counselor who can help you address your irrational fears.
6822962 tn?1396329659 He prescribed me Tamiflu and was wondering if anyone else has taken it. Did you experience any side effects to you or baby. I am worried about my baby.
1029233 tn?1263966032 Yes like Joy says the s.flu is only likely to cause serious complications in people who already have chronic health conditions. Healthy pregnant women will merely experience flu symptoms and a high temperature lasting over about 4-5 days, then will get better. The key is (as with all flu) to take a paracetemol, keep your fluid intake high, and if you wish, get better a little quicker with a course of anti-viral meds. I also believe the media has made a huge deal of this.
Avatar n tn Thank you so much for taking the time to respond, it is greatly appreciated. My last vaccine was over a week ago, and I have seen some fluctuation of the side effects since this post as well. They are fairly steady and constant, but I have noticed a decrease on occasion so am hopeful they may all pass soon. I’ve also began utilizing OTC pain meds daily which do help tremendously the constant headache.
478429 tn?1265244387 who knows...and the side effects are unknown....side effects..to me are bad enough......not knowing or being aware of the possible ones..........make me ill.....she said it should be ready about oct 15...univ of pitt..carnegie mellon already have cases..as well as ohio schools..and flordia...and its not even flu season.....i am confused...and never got the flu shot..so i dont know if i will get that either.....
Avatar n tn Mild problems: • soreness, redness, tenderness, or swelling where the shot was given • fainting (mainly adolescents) • headache, muscle aches • fever • nausea If these problems occur, they usually begin soon after the shot and last 1-2 days. Severe problems: • Life-threatening allergic reactions to vaccines are very rare. If they do occur, it is usually within a few minutes to a few hours after the shot. If the reaction is severe: What should I look for?
151928 tn?1275707337 t feel like a month or 2 of clinical trials will produce sufficient data to determine whether the vaccine is indeed safe in pregnancy... sure the pregnant mother may not have side-effects... and the baby may appear fine, but I want to see long term studies on the fetuses exposed to this before I'd be willing to take it.
Avatar f tn this year it doesnt matter if you get the vaccine or not. The flu vaccine doesnt work against this strand. I got the vaccine and still got the flu.

168348 tn?1379357075 Other side effects may include mild fever, body aches, and fatigue for a few days after the inoculation. For the nasal spray vaccine, the most common side effects include runny nose or nasal congestion for all ages, sore throats in adults, and -- in children 2 to 6 years old -- fever. As with any medical product, unexpected or rare serious adverse events may occur.
