Tamiflu vaccine

Common Questions and Answers about Tamiflu vaccine

tamiflu

Avatar n tn Agree with vaccine & tamiflu. Influenza can be deadly, especially to high risk groups like moms, seniors, newborns. Be glad medicine is helping, rest, don't worry about side effects if OB prescribed.
Avatar n tn I never heard of high dose and regular dose flu vaccine! Truth, getting the actual flu is rare. It sure stinks when you get it but most people have it one or two times in a LIFETIME. And NOW we have tamiflu. I'm sure if there are two options, I've only gotten the regular flu vaccine. I'm in my 50's. Two years ago, my son was very sick with a 105 temp. I took care of him and we went to the doctor in the morning.
Avatar f tn As a middle-aged adult I am thinking of getting pneumonia vaccine as well. My doctor thinks that the current vaccine - which protects against 23 specific strains of pneumonia - is probably not of much use to an adult because adults are typically stricken by strains of pneumonia not defended by the current vaccine.
944080 tn?1298919453 So I was just wondering if anyone here has had it, and made it through okay? If so, did you have Tamiflu or not? My sons and husband had the H1n1 last week, and I called my Dr right away and got on Tamiflu, which prevented me from getting sick at all. Trust me, I was very unsure about taking the Tamiflu, but I felt it was better than ending up very sick or dead. I still worry about what adverse effects the drug might have on my unborn baby.
Avatar f tn this year it doesnt matter if you get the vaccine or not. The flu vaccine doesnt work against this strand. I got the vaccine and still got the flu.

167 tn?1374173817 Hi there, I am soooo sorry about this news! If you are still on the fence about getting the H1N1 vaccine or the Tamiflu,is there maybe a way that you could stay at a friend's house or maybe with family for 2-3 days just until the most highly contagious days have passed. This way at least you won't expose yourself since you say that you don't feel any of the symptoms yet. Maybe your lucky enough to have fought it off and have nothing as of yet. I would first go to the dr.
982641 tn?1252025412 said that if I have any cold-like symptoms (besides what I might experience over the next couple days from the vaccine) I am to call the office immediately and they will prescribe tamiflu to start taking before they even test me. They said they want me to get vaccinated as soon as the H1N1 vaccine is sent out... I guess I'll probably do it... it just makes me nervous. By the way, if you have forgotten - flu shots hurt! My arm has been throbbing for the past 10 hours!
1029233 tn?1263966032 Hey ladies. I really really need your help. I know you are all probably tired of hearing about swine flu but where I live in Texas it is running rampant I have always been a worrier and always think the worst of everything. I have had a pretty rough first pregnancy. They found a subchorionic hematoma that was huge and I bled until I was 6 months pregnant. I thought I had swine flu this weekend after coming in contact with someone who had it.
Avatar f tn I've been prescribed Tamiflu but have seen some concern about it's potential damage to the liver. I have compensated cirrhosis (7 yrs) and am basically very healthy except for this flu. I've read that the drug elevates liver enzymes. Can't call gi doc as Friday night. Thanks for any comments!
688450 tn?1259468734 Did you have the vaccine at all? Did you catch it after or before the vaccine was administered? What are you doing to take care of yourself? What did the doctor prescribe after finding out you have it? If you don't have it do you know anyone who has been diagnosed with it?
Avatar m tn Tamiflu is a cure not a vaccine, like i said TAKE OREGENO OIL FOR ANY FLU...and you will knock it down ,within hours.
Avatar f tn There are mixed thoughts on this. I got my first flu vaccine last year due to a good sell job by my doctor. :>) My kids have never gotten it. My thoughts: flu is rare. Much rarer than people think. I've had it twice in my entire life. My kids have never had it. Only certain populations are at true risk for mortality from it. It's miserable when you have it but not deadly.
Avatar f tn I just saw the same story on CNN. I had the vaccine as soon as it was available and have had no side effects whatsoever. I have seen my OB since then and all is well with both baby and me. I am a believer that pregnant women especially should be vaccinated, but I also respect that it is a personal decision. Keep in mind that it is essentially the same vaccine as the seasonal flu shot which has been used in pregnant women for years.
Avatar n tn I have read information about their active ingredients and I would like to know if any asthmatic took the swine flu vaccine and if they did, did they have any side effects.
973741 tn?1342342773 Yes They have a test for both flu and Covid19. So if you get symptoms of the flu, I believe they are going to test for both. I am probably going to try to get my flu vaccine before the Sarscov2 (corona virus) vaccine becomes available. I don't know how they are going to administer either one without making people sick. Perhaps a drive through?
Avatar f tn My apologies if this has already been covered - in fact I'd be surprised if it hasn't but couldn't find anything. I notice from the literature that people with MS are included in those who will be on the priority list for the s f vaccine (when they have one) as they are included in those "at risk of serious complications from swine flu". I don't understand why though.
457721 tn?1256640798 I am being treated for it right now with Tamiflu...and I am absolutely miserable. Obviously, I am VERY worried about the potential complications it can cause during pregnancy. :( My doctor is most worried about dehydration, since I am already having preterm contractions and we obviously want to avoid delivering too early. Just thought I would see if any one else is experiencing/experienced this!
478429 tn?1265244387 Because I'm recovering from Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS), my neurologist and OB agree that I shouldn't get the vaccine. My OB said that Tamiflu is showing to be safe in pregnancy, so if worse comes to worse, than I will have to take Tamiflu. Unfortunately for me, the consequence of having the flu will be better than the potential consequence of exposing my wonky immune system to a vaccine. for me, this applies to both the seasonal flu and H1N1 vaccines.
478429 tn?1265244387 I am definitely NOT getting this vaccine. It is a LIVE vaccine and has already killed people. I'm not injecting a LIVE virus into myself while pregnant, or into any of my family. When the polio vaccine was first invented it was live, and it killed too many people. Now, the polio vaccine is an inactive virus. I just don't feel safe getting the vaccine. The "benefits" do NOT outweigh the risks, to me. Just because you get the vaccine doesn't mean you wont still catch the flu.
168348 tn?1379357075 I started this group to get opinions of many members as we decided whether or not to get the vaccine, but we never had to make the choice since my family got the flu terribly bad -- 2 of my kids ended up on antibiotics, steroids, albuterol (they are asthmatics) and Tamiflu - it was fast moving and very aggressive virus. We're all okay. Hindsight for us is 20/20 -- I guess the weight of making a decision is over for us -- but remains for so so so many others.
151928 tn?1275707337 I keep hearing all the info on the swine flu and how pregnant women are the most at risk group and that we should get the vaccine as soon as it comes out. I'm scared to get such an new vaccine but then I'm scared of the consequences of getting the swine flu??? I also have a 16 month old who is in daycare so they say we should get them the shot too. What have you guys heard and any thoughts?
188761 tn?1584567620 Some Chinese researchers are testing combinations of ASC-09 (ARV HIV) and Tamiflu (Oseltamivir), ritonavir (ARV HIV) and Tamiflu and Tamiflu alone.
Avatar f tn We will definitely start getting the flu vaccine each year. Surprisingly, I feel much better today than I did yesterday. My ObGyn called in a prescription for Tamiflu which I started last night and took my second dose this morning. As of now, my only symptoms are fatigue and little to no apatite. The fever, body aches, headache, and nausea have gone away.
Avatar f tn They no longer use live cultures for the flu vaccine, so it does not make you ill. However as already stated, this year's vaccine isn't compatible with the strain of flu that has been more dominate. Keep in mind also, we have a weakened immune system during pregnancy so it's easier for us to catch coodies. Feel better soon.
Avatar f tn So, losing taste and smell is classic for covid but CAN happen with flu too. I experienced it the first time I got covid so learned all about it. It involves a nerve in your olfactory system. With covid, must be honest. I lost my taste fully for a month (smell too). And then it slowly came back. A year later and things that used to taste good to me tasted like bug spray. But many things were back to normal. Things smelled off also.
