tamiflu use in pregnancy

ll cause harm to my baby. Anyone been prescribed meds for flu this pregnancy? (Tamiflu in particular..) Any natural remedies? That's the route I like to go.. I've never had the flu in my life.

I am 5 weeks pregnant with my 3RD baby. I came down with a cold on Thursday. My cough is horrible and I have been running fevers a lot. I called my OB and she called in a RX for tamiflu. I've never been on it before but she assured me that it was safe. She said my cough may turn into pneumonia or bronchitis and that may be worse then taking the meds. I never went thru this with my boys so I'm a little unsure. I did research and it seems safe. What are others opinion on this.

I would get the pharmacist to show you in their book the reasins its not safe in pregnancy..i kno the antidepressants i used to take can cause heart defects to a baby in the first trimester..somethings are only a problem then..

Yes I took tamiflu when I was pregnant with my son it's on the lowest scale for harming you or the baby. In other words its safe.

I just got pregnant again cuz ny first pregnancy ended up in miscarriage,im just 5 weeks pregnant i was at ER till midnight and i have the flu too been having fever..they gave me tamiflu too and they told me if i start feeling good and then it comes back i should go back..pls take care of urself this flu is horrible!!!

You may actually experience fewer or less severe symptoms for having gotten the vaccination. As far as Tamiflu, yes, it is safe during pregnancy. I have taken it myself. Hope you feel better soon.

Ive already started taking tamiflu and cough syrup with a decongestant. How dangerous is the flu to my baby. I know a high temperature can cause birth deffects. Luckly i havent had a fever. But what about the virus in general?

I took tamiflu during last pregnancy. Safer to take to make u feel better than the risk of u staying so ill. With all meds there are risks but in this case it's better to take the meds and get better faster. I felt way better after 2 days. If I remember tamiflu is only for 5 days. Good luck. Stay hydrated and take the meds.

Tamiflu is in no way safe during pregnancy. The risks outweigh the benefits I'm pretty sure.its class c. I had flu last January 7 months pregnant and they couldn't give me anything. But tell me to stay hydrated!!

Oh trust me I know the minute u think it starting to beat it it comes bk stronger I just had my last dose of tamiflu but then all the heat from my fever caused a gland in my vagina to go haywire which resulted in a cyst/boil and all the hot compress in the world could not bring to a head so I had to have it landed now I'm on antibiotics my poor baby all this medication

For the last four days I been having flu like symtoms (fever, night sweats, body aches) , seen the dr. and he perscribed TAMIFLU. In what time frame would someone infected see symptoms if any at all? 2. Would you suggest testing and if so what test would be the correct test at 9 weeks. Would TAMIFLU affect the result?

And now on day 7, the fever is back again, the cough is getting much worse, and I completely lost my voice. I will be on an oversea trip in 3 days. Not sure how I could travel feeling so sick like this. Really need tips on how to get over this severe cold (or flu?) sooner. Thanks so much!

Get to a doctor and get a tamiflu prescription asap if you test positive. It took me almost a month to recover.

You should try going to the hospital , they'll give you medicine there . I went to the labor and delivery room since I'm far in my pregnancy already i got told i had the type A flu and they gave me " tamiflu " and I was also dehydrated . The nurse told me that she was glad I came in cause it could of gotten worse . Better safe than sorry !

I had Tamiflu once while working in a nursing home and only because i was the only charge nurse there at night. It was a precaution for me. I did NOT have the flu and did not want it. I do not know when it is supposed to be administered but probably you could google it......... I've never had the flu (knock on wood) and have never taken the vaccine. Surely down the road it might catch up with me but my personal convictions just won't let me do it.

The doctor would not have prescribed something that was dangerous to your fetus. Tamiflu has a very limited window of time in which it can help with your symptoms. You need to take it so that it will help you to feel better. If you wait too long it isn't going to do you any good.
