7714453 tn?1394714282 ll cause harm to my baby. Anyone been prescribed meds for flu this pregnancy? (Tamiflu in particular..) Any natural remedies? That's the route I like to go.. I've never had the flu in my life.
Avatar n tn I am 5 weeks pregnant with my 3RD baby. I came down with a cold on Thursday. My cough is horrible and I have been running fevers a lot. I called my OB and she called in a RX for tamiflu. I've never been on it before but she assured me that it was safe. She said my cough may turn into pneumonia or bronchitis and that may be worse then taking the meds. I never went thru this with my boys so I'm a little unsure. I did research and it seems safe. What are others opinion on this.
Avatar f tn I would get the pharmacist to show you in their book the reasins its not safe in pregnancy..i kno the antidepressants i used to take can cause heart defects to a baby in the first trimester..somethings are only a problem then..
Avatar f tn Yes I took tamiflu when I was pregnant with my son it's on the lowest scale for harming you or the baby. In other words its safe.

Avatar n tn You may actually experience fewer or less severe symptoms for having gotten the vaccination. As far as Tamiflu, yes, it is safe during pregnancy. I have taken it myself. Hope you feel better soon.
Avatar n tn Ive already started taking tamiflu and cough syrup with a decongestant. How dangerous is the flu to my baby. I know a high temperature can cause birth deffects. Luckly i havent had a fever. But what about the virus in general?
6576704 tn?1383187473 I took tamiflu during last pregnancy. Safer to take to make u feel better than the risk of u staying so ill. With all meds there are risks but in this case it's better to take the meds and get better faster. I felt way better after 2 days. If I remember tamiflu is only for 5 days. Good luck. Stay hydrated and take the meds.
Avatar f tn Tamiflu is in no way safe during pregnancy. The risks outweigh the benefits I'm pretty sure.its class c. I had flu last January 7 months pregnant and they couldn't give me anything. But tell me to stay hydrated!!
Avatar n tn Oh trust me I know the minute u think it starting to beat it it comes bk stronger I just had my last dose of tamiflu but then all the heat from my fever caused a gland in my vagina to go haywire which resulted in a cyst/boil and all the hot compress in the world could not bring to a head so I had to have it landed now I'm on antibiotics my poor baby all this medication
Avatar f tn Thanks for the good and informative post. I did not know this re pneumonia vaccine--mine is getting near to 5 years old so good to know this anyhow. You seem very knowledgeable; do you know how long Tamiflu actually lasts?
Avatar m tn I use Neways brand but you can buy other brands from health food stores. Colloidial minerals are in liquid form taken from dead lakes, the plant life absorb the minerals from the ground and then when heavy rain & flooding occur they end up in the lake , making the lake rich in bioavailable (easily absorbed) minerals, herbs etc. Also no heavy metals for your body to get rid of and safe to use when pregnant, for kids and infants.
Avatar f tn 30 weeks pregnant, has anyone ever took tamiflu while pregnant? Any side affects to you or your child after birth?
Avatar n tn A doctor can write a prescription for any patient, regardless of age. He may have meant that your son doesn't fit the criteria for being helped by the drug. For example, Tamiflu is only helpful if started in the first 48 hours of the flu. You don't want him taking a medicine that won't help, and drugs become less effective when given to people that they won't help.
1029233 tn?1263966032 and early care if u begin to feel sick go to the dr. I am not sure about Tamiflu and pregnancy and if it affects the fetus or not.
Avatar f tn Sorry, in my prior post I meant to say "I hope your niece and her MOTHER" are alright (a little tired now - time for my nappy-poo). Making lots of mistakes - missed seeing and correcting that one.
Avatar n tn For the last four days I been having flu like symtoms (fever, night sweats, body aches) , seen the dr. and he perscribed TAMIFLU. In what time frame would someone infected see symptoms if any at all? 2. Would you suggest testing and if so what test would be the correct test at 9 weeks. Would TAMIFLU affect the result?
1806721 tn?1554333407 And now on day 7, the fever is back again, the cough is getting much worse, and I completely lost my voice. I will be on an oversea trip in 3 days. Not sure how I could travel feeling so sick like this. Really need tips on how to get over this severe cold (or flu?) sooner. Thanks so much!
6822962 tn?1396329659 I ended up getting the deadly flu despite me taking the flu shot. I ended up in urgent care where they told me i got the deadly kind of flu. He prescribed me Tamiflu and was wondering if anyone else has taken it. Did you experience any side effects to you or baby. I am worried about my baby.
Avatar f tn Get to a doctor and get a tamiflu prescription asap if you test positive. It took me almost a month to recover.
Avatar f tn You should try going to the hospital , they'll give you medicine there . I went to the labor and delivery room since I'm far in my pregnancy already i got told i had the type A flu and they gave me " tamiflu " and I was also dehydrated . The nurse told me that she was glad I came in cause it could of gotten worse . Better safe than sorry !
Avatar m tn I had Tamiflu once while working in a nursing home and only because i was the only charge nurse there at night. It was a precaution for me. I did NOT have the flu and did not want it. I do not know when it is supposed to be administered but probably you could google it......... I've never had the flu (knock on wood) and have never taken the vaccine. Surely down the road it might catch up with me but my personal convictions just won't let me do it.
944080 tn?1298919453 Her friend who was in her last trimester of pregnancy had died of complications of the h1n1 virus. Her baby did survive. I think it is a big deal and it is something to be very cautious about. Also alot of women say that they have had H1N1 and were never tested for it...only had symptoms...so how do we really know who has actually had it or not? If you go to the CDC website it can give you some statistics on pregnant women and h1n1.
Avatar f tn The doctor would not have prescribed something that was dangerous to your fetus. Tamiflu has a very limited window of time in which it can help with your symptoms. You need to take it so that it will help you to feel better. If you wait too long it isn't going to do you any good.
