Tamiflu side effects in babies

Common Questions and Answers about Tamiflu side effects in babies

tamiflu

Avatar f tn My OB called me and told me that as a prevention she wanted to put me on Tamiflu which is not recommended for pregnant women because the side effects are unknown. She said that the benefits would outweigh the negatives most likely because there have already been deaths linked to this strain of flu. The pharmacist didn't seem worried because I am 18 weeks along. Any of you ladies been put on tamiflu? Should I trust my doctor and pharmacist?
6822962 tn?1396329659 He prescribed me Tamiflu and was wondering if anyone else has taken it. Did you experience any side effects to you or baby. I am worried about my baby.
Avatar f tn I'm sorry about the late reply. There is little data about the effects of how influenzae in the mother affects the baby. There is some information that the virus can cross the placenta and affect the baby, but not all babies are affected in this way. The information about outcomes is also scarce: some studies have suggested the possibility of increased developmental problems while other studies do not confirm this.
Avatar f tn I already had the seasonal flu shot so next time I go to the my OB appt I will ask her if I need to get the H1N1 shot as well. I was just concerned about the babies and side effects. I got a little bit of a reaction from the seasonal flu shot but nothing major. I will talk it over my doc and see. I will let you guys know what I decide. Thanks again.
Avatar f tn 30 weeks pregnant, has anyone ever took tamiflu while pregnant? Any side affects to you or your child after birth?
167 tn?1374173817 Oh wow...how scary! I would probably take the tamiflu...especially since your ob is recommending it. The complications associated with H1N1 are so much more serious for you, since you're pregnant, that personally I think that outweighs any possible side effects of the tamiflu. But I'm definitely no expert. Does your ob have any experience with tamiflu and other pregnant women? It might help if he or she can share with you some examples of others who used it without complications.
Avatar n tn They can have some usually tolerable side effects. If they are started early enough they can lighten the severity of symptoms and shorten the duration of the illness by several days.
688450 tn?1259468734 There is little information about the effect of antiviral drugs in pregnant women or their babies, but no serious side effects have been reported. If you do think you have had a side effect to antiviral drugs, call your doctor right away.
Avatar f tn side effects of the meds maybe ..can you do without them now ..?
866560 tn?1265061561 Each one of us got a script for Tamiflu in case we come into contact or show symptoms ourselves of H1N1. Still undecided about that shot but the doc is really pushing me to get it. Ugh...
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! I went to the ER yesterday because i thought i was getting the flu and strep throat, but according to their tests they both came negative. Well, the doc decided to give me the tamiflu and other medicine for bronchitis. They didn't do a chest xray because im 16 weeks pregnant, but because of my bath cough. No fever-- but everything did come up, water, oj, fruit and yogurt.
Avatar n tn drwsiness, back pain, neck and shoulders pain,,,i removed it after the first month, in early november. but until now i feel pain in my ovaries, flushing, chest pain, hot and cold at the same time, back pain, i feel fire inside me, some times numbness in my head and hands, as if my body is too heavy,,,i started having panic attacks, and mood swings...am not sure if it is related to merina, or related to hoermonal changes...am suffering so much ever since.
Avatar n tn I came down with a cold on Thursday. My cough is horrible and I have been running fevers a lot. I called my OB and she called in a RX for tamiflu. I've never been on it before but she assured me that it was safe. She said my cough may turn into pneumonia or bronchitis and that may be worse then taking the meds. I never went thru this with my boys so I'm a little unsure. I did research and it seems safe. What are others opinion on this. I just feel horrible.
Avatar f tn t react with pain unless the cigar components react with the symptoms. Also the side-effects of the drug can cause this. UC cures are hard to find and tideous to make. The only way to cure UC is through the modern tamiflu. UC is really part of the hidden virus gene that can mutate into a worse case such as HIV or SARS. Beware of radiational leaks in Japan. The radiation also can cause diseases similar to UC.
Avatar n tn A doctor can write a prescription for any patient, regardless of age. He may have meant that your son doesn't fit the criteria for being helped by the drug. For example, Tamiflu is only helpful if started in the first 48 hours of the flu. You don't want him taking a medicine that won't help, and drugs become less effective when given to people that they won't help.
944080 tn?1298919453 I am due in 6 weeks. With all this media hype I am scared to death about contracting the H1n1 virus. They are making it sound like if you are pregnant and get it, that you are doomed. So I was just wondering if anyone here has had it, and made it through okay? If so, did you have Tamiflu or not? My sons and husband had the H1n1 last week, and I called my Dr right away and got on Tamiflu, which prevented me from getting sick at all.
Avatar f tn Yes I took tamiflu when I was pregnant with my son it's on the lowest scale for harming you or the baby. In other words its safe.
Avatar f tn Narcolepsy-cataplexy + frontal epilepsy after taking two pills of TAMIFLU in 2007. My husband was ill, and our family doctor recommanded me and my baby to take the same medecine otherwise we should also catch the "bad" flu. I took two pills of TAMIFLU and fell down at my office, unanimated but not unconscious, unable to move, prisonner in my own body.
7714453 tn?1394714282 ll cause harm to my baby. Anyone been prescribed meds for flu this pregnancy? (Tamiflu in particular..) Any natural remedies? That's the route I like to go.. I've never had the flu in my life.
721523 tn?1331581802 m so sorry your household is going through this. Stay quiet and hydrated and I hope you pass through this quickly without much side effects to your MS. You should call and find out what course oftreatment they recommend for you.
Avatar n tn For the last four days I been having flu like symtoms (fever, night sweats, body aches) , seen the dr. and he perscribed TAMIFLU. In what time frame would someone infected see symptoms if any at all? 2. Would you suggest testing and if so what test would be the correct test at 9 weeks. Would TAMIFLU affect the result?
Avatar f tn I got the H1N1 shot last month and had no side effects. It cheered me up so much to get it, I had been basically wincing every time anyone sneezed in the grocery store. I am someone who also got a seasonal flu vaccine at a time when I was pregnant, and had no side effects or issues from it, either. Unlike other flus, H1N1 (the illness, not the shot) has been very dangerous for pregnant women, so please don't take the threat lightly. The shot stings a little bit, is all I found.
