tamiflu oral medication

I am 5 weeks pregnant with my 3RD baby. I came down with a cold on Thursday. My cough is horrible and I have been running fevers a lot. I called my OB and she called in a RX for tamiflu. I've never been on it before but she assured me that it was safe. She said my cough may turn into pneumonia or bronchitis and that may be worse then taking the meds. I never went thru this with my boys so I'm a little unsure. I did research and it seems safe. What are others opinion on this.

I recently was exposed to someone with influenza. My OB as a precaution prescribed Tamiflu. I'm at the end of my pregnancy 36 weeks and I'm just curious to know if any other moms - to - be have taken this medication and any advice with any moms that have gotten the flu.

ve super sick since yesterday went in to the er tonight and was told i have the h1n1 infuenza they told me i have to be put on medication wich is tamiflu but i am so scared for my baby I'm am 31 weeks pregnant and have two other kids has anyone experience this while pregnant and took that medication was it safe for baby?

Dr. Thank You in advance for your time. I received unprotected oral sex on Oct. 15, 2008 I know this is low risk after reading through some of the threads. My concerns are symptoms (which I know should not be) here are my questions: 1. For the last four days I been having flu like symtoms (fever, night sweats, body aches) , seen the dr. and he perscribed TAMIFLU. In what time frame would someone infected see symptoms if any at all? 2.

My OB called me and told me that as a prevention she wanted to put me on Tamiflu which is not recommended for pregnant women because the side effects are unknown. She said that the benefits would outweigh the negatives most likely because there have already been deaths linked to this strain of flu. The pharmacist didn't seem worried because I am 18 weeks along. Any of you ladies been put on tamiflu? Should I trust my doctor and pharmacist?

I ended up in urgent care where they told me i got the deadly kind of flu. He prescribed me Tamiflu and was wondering if anyone else has taken it. Did you experience any side effects to you or baby. I am worried about my baby.

I have been so miserable for a whole week now. There is no relief and at times I feel like I'm dying. This might sound dramatic but I am serious my nose runs like a faucet I cannot breathe through it my TEETH hurt so bad I can't chew a banana. If you have the flu you need to see your doctor. Tamiflu, a prescription medication, can decrease the severity and the length of the flu but you have to take it right away. Drink more water and rest - but first, see your doc.

Stupidly providing oral sex to a man. I am a man too. It was brief. He said he was negative. But his behavior later made me think he was risky. I guess we both were. I got the flu four days later. My physician actually diagnosed it as the flute. Put me on Tamiflu period last and only 4 days. Then 10 days later I developed what look like hives on the back of one of my legs. Then the other leg. OB says to take Tamiflu and start today, but Tamiflu is not recommended for pregnancy based on unknown reactions to unborn children. Hubby and I don't know what decision is the best for us. Any opinions? The prescription is waiting for me...just so scared either way. I am leaning towards taking my chances and not taking it, but that is not the recommendation. 30 weeks pregnant, has anyone ever took tamiflu while pregnant? Any side affects to you or your child after birth?

My four-year-old grandson, who has leukemia, was just diagnosed with the flu despite having the shot this year. I also had the shot prior to my diagnosis. During seperation, I was involved with a male and had unprotected intercourse/vaginal only with no ejaculation inside on 7/30/09 n oral with ejaculation/spit n rinsed mouth on 8/23/09. I tested @ 5 months post exposure, Jan. 2009, for hiv and syphillis-negative and @ 6 month mark, Feb. 2009, for hiv, syphillis, chlamydia and gonnorhea and was negative. My concern is that in Nov.2009 I had a ear infection and was given Bactrim.

I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and just found out I have the flu. My OB put me on Tamiflu but my primary said she wasn't sure about it. Has anyone been on this while pregnant? I'm sure your doctor knows that the benefits of taking the medication far outweighs the risk of NOT taking it. Get some rest, stay hydrated, take your meds and vitamins, etc... hope you feel better soon!!

Yes I took tamiflu when I was pregnant with my son it's on the lowest scale for harming you or the baby. In other words its safe.

Get to a doctor and get a tamiflu prescription asap if you test positive. It took me almost a month to recover.

A woman in her 40s who was taking care of her mother (the mother was sick with the swine flu) was refused TamiFlu medication because she had had three negative Rapid-Flu tests (whatever they're actually called). Here the poor woman was living with her mother, taking care of her mother, and she was experiencing all the swine flu symptoms her mother had (duhhhhh!).

Was sent home with Tamiflu, Prednisone, and Azithromycin (to ward off any complications). They also gave me a breathing treatment which cleared me out somewhat. Now, the next day, the heavy respiratory congestion and cough is back full force. My stomach muscles are killing me from coughing. Tamiflu is in no way safe during pregnancy. The risks outweigh the benefits I'm pretty sure.its class c. I had flu last January 7 months pregnant and they couldn't give me anything. But tell me to stay hydrated!!
