told us that he was not eleigible to recieve a prescription for Tamiflu. Where can I find any federal or state restictions for eleigibility.

Flu vaccine does not work. But Tamiflu is safe. Rest with plenty of fluids and it shall pass.

do not listen to westes...he thinks pneumonia is a bacterial infection...look it up...i mean you ARE on the internet....and everybody thinks they are doctors now days no matter how wrong they are... pneumonia refers to an infection of the alveoli and bronchioles ...whether the infection be due to viral,bacterial, fungal, or parasitic...pneumonia is not a condition JUST A SYMPTOM of a condition or infection...i dont believ this vaccine they have is going to do anygood...

Tamiflu is completely safe for pregnant mama's. I'm a pharmacy assistant, a dispensary assistant and used to be a medical receptionist and a practice manager. So I'm partially aware of what's safe and whats not (obviously not as advanced as doctors and pharmacists) but it is most definitely safe to take. It's generally used for Influenza though not just a common cold.

But there could be other strains going around this year that it will not work for. Specialmom is right tamiflu only works within the first few hours and after that there is not Mich you can so other than rest, Tylenol and fluids.

30 weeks pregnant, has anyone ever took tamiflu while pregnant? Any side affects to you or your child after birth?

My OB called me and told me that as a prevention she wanted to put me on Tamiflu which is not recommended for pregnant women because the side effects are unknown. She said that the benefits would outweigh the negatives most likely because there have already been deaths linked to this strain of flu. The pharmacist didn't seem worried because I am 18 weeks along. Any of you ladies been put on tamiflu? Should I trust my doctor and pharmacist?

OB says to take Tamiflu and start today, but Tamiflu is not recommended for pregnancy based on unknown reactions to unborn children. Hubby and I don't know what decision is the best for us. Any opinions? The prescription is waiting for me...just so scared either way. I am leaning towards taking my chances and not taking it, but that is not the recommendation. Yes I took tamiflu when I was pregnant with my son it's on the lowest scale for harming you or the baby. In other words its safe.

Since you could not possibly have caught HIV from the protected oral sex event, it is not possible your symptoms are due to HIV (unless you have had other HIV exposures). Also, acute HIV symptoms start 10-20 days after exposure; 2 months is much too late. Your doctor obviously believes your symptoms are not just "flu-like", but are in fact the flu (influenza). That is the only condition that Tamiflu is used for. You do not need HIV testing.

The reason they did it (instead of just assuming it was flu and staying home), is that Tamiflu is effective at shortening the time someone has the flu and making them feel a lot better fast, especially if the person is a child. I didn't know Tamiflu was that good: I remember when it was first developed, I think, and the stories were sort of meh because it doesn't *cure* the flu.

IMHO - go to urgi care now, get rapid flu swab, get anti viral ( tamiflu) if positive.... I'm so not into meds but I got this Tx wk 4 & couldn't take anything & still ( in week 10) filled nasty in chest!!! Do not collect $200- go straight away & get checked , only 48 hour window to treat....

it will be good for you to drink a cup of water with full tea spoon of Sodium bicarbonate daily, which will make your blood more alkaline. and the alkalinity is not favourable enviroment for the virus ...and the virus will day the Q is: is this true? can Sodium bicarbonate harm my body?

ve super sick since yesterday went in to the er tonight and was told i have the h1n1 infuenza they told me i have to be put on medication wich is tamiflu but i am so scared for my baby I'm am 31 weeks pregnant and have two other kids has anyone experience this while pregnant and took that medication was it safe for baby?

Get to a doctor and get a tamiflu prescription asap if you test positive. It took me almost a month to recover.

I have been so miserable for a whole week now. There is no relief and at times I feel like I'm dying. I actually just got over the swine flu 2 weeks ago and was on the Tamiflu. The baby and I are just fine and I was not hospitalized. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers.
