Tamiflu mode of action

Common Questions and Answers about Tamiflu mode of action

tamiflu

Avatar n tn The vaccine acts by introducing antigens, which stimulates your body to make antibodies against the disease. When you are exposed a second time to the same antigens (by way of coming into contact with the actual flu virus), your body is able to recognize the disease, and the antibodies go into action to prevent you from getting the flu, or to lessen the symptoms and duration by basically beating down the virus. Tamiflu isn't a vaccine, nor a substitute for a vaccine.
Avatar n tn not bothering with tamiflu, of the opinion not to take medicine unless i have to and starting to feel better so.. do you think these symptoms could be herpes? either type? general flu symptoms for 3 days without sores etc? and how long would you wait to be tested? and, broadly speaking, if the glands in the throat are inflamed does it mean the infection is in the throat/face and inflamed glands in your groin means the genitals are infected?
905197 tn?1282232033 well to vent a little more I have just been taken off of tamiflu because I am having an allergic reaction to it!!!!
Avatar n tn I am 5 weeks pregnant with my 3RD baby. I came down with a cold on Thursday. My cough is horrible and I have been running fevers a lot. I called my OB and she called in a RX for tamiflu. I've never been on it before but she assured me that it was safe. She said my cough may turn into pneumonia or bronchitis and that may be worse then taking the meds. I never went thru this with my boys so I'm a little unsure. I did research and it seems safe. What are others opinion on this.
Avatar f tn 30 weeks pregnant, has anyone ever took tamiflu while pregnant? Any side affects to you or your child after birth?
Avatar m tn So given you wore a condom you only protected part of you. Though the first typical outbreak is at the site of infection but can be anywhere in the boxer shorts area. Testing was done to soon. You need to test after 3 months of the encounter for accurate diagnosis. Testing now showed your status prior to this incident.
Avatar n tn Flu vaccine does not work. But Tamiflu is safe. Rest with plenty of fluids and it shall pass.
Avatar f tn -Headache (pressure behind eyes, back of head)-feels very different than the occassional migraine I have gotten -Visual problems (episodes of double vision, blurry vision, pain with eye movement) -Nausea and vomitting (very frequent) -Dizziness -Fainting (both after standing, after having been standing for a period of time, and sitting down) -Loss of memory -Problems with cognition (trouble finding correct words/forming sentences, difficulty learning new things, etc...
Avatar n tn A doctor can write a prescription for any patient, regardless of age. He may have meant that your son doesn't fit the criteria for being helped by the drug. For example, Tamiflu is only helpful if started in the first 48 hours of the flu. You don't want him taking a medicine that won't help, and drugs become less effective when given to people that they won't help.
Avatar f tn t seem worried because I am 18 weeks along. Any of you ladies been put on tamiflu? Should I trust my doctor and pharmacist?
167 tn?1374173817 That is a hard decision. For myself I would weigh the odds. What are the odds of you getting H1N1? high. What are the odds of of you/baby having complications from tamiflu? low (?? but I'd have to do more research). What are the odds of you/baby having complications if you do get H1N1? high. So for myself I would probably take it. Many meds are labeled class C but still seem to be OK during pregnancy (such as metformin and baby aspirin which is actually a D).
Avatar f tn Yes I took tamiflu when I was pregnant with my son it's on the lowest scale for harming you or the baby. In other words its safe.
Avatar f tn Get to a doctor and get a tamiflu prescription asap if you test positive. It took me almost a month to recover.
Avatar n tn 15, 2008 I know this is low risk after reading through some of the threads. My concerns are symptoms (which I know should not be) here are my questions: 1. For the last four days I been having flu like symtoms (fever, night sweats, body aches) , seen the dr. and he perscribed TAMIFLU. In what time frame would someone infected see symptoms if any at all? 2. Would you suggest testing and if so what test would be the correct test at 9 weeks. Would TAMIFLU affect the result?
6822962 tn?1396329659 I ended up in urgent care where they told me i got the deadly kind of flu. He prescribed me Tamiflu and was wondering if anyone else has taken it. Did you experience any side effects to you or baby. I am worried about my baby.
6576704 tn?1383187473 First off, h1n1 will make you very sick! It's like an extreme version of the flu. Second of all, doctors won't prescribe you something that is going to hurt the baby.
Avatar f tn My daughter had the flu, so she was describe some medicine. Tamiflu, and nasal spray. 2 days after taking the medicine, she complains that her mouth hurts. I look and there is a rash on the roof of her mouth, behind her 2 front teeth and her right molar... when anything cold aggrevates it. I wanted to know if this could be a reaction to the medicine?
Avatar f tn My grandaughter had H1N1, and the doc prescribed Tamiflu at that time for the other members of the family. Lot of good that did. Now, the doc has written another Tamiflu Rx. DIL seems to be holding up ok - fever still low - 100.4 but throwing up when she's not sleeping. Guess I should worry - I now if any other symptoms appear, my son will know what to do......
Avatar f tn Like Dr. Pernoud stated there is no relationship between altitude and rds or glaucoma. However, if you've had a pneumatic retinopexy recently w/ SF6 or C3F8 you are not able to go to high altitudes or travel via plane as this will cause an increase in IOP.
Avatar f tn The doctor would not have prescribed something that was dangerous to your fetus. Tamiflu has a very limited window of time in which it can help with your symptoms. You need to take it so that it will help you to feel better. If you wait too long it isn't going to do you any good.
Avatar f tn Also make sure you have had your flu shot. It is very important in pregnancy, and can prevent some of the more serious strands of the flu.
Avatar n tn I'm right there with you! 27 weeks for me and I just took my last dose of tamiflu. I thought I was feeling better yesterday but today I feel like I've taken two steps back. Hang in there!!
Avatar f tn Tamiflu is in no way safe during pregnancy. The risks outweigh the benefits I'm pretty sure.its class c. I had flu last January 7 months pregnant and they couldn't give me anything. But tell me to stay hydrated!!
