I came down with a cold on Thursday. My cough is horrible and I have been running fevers a lot. I called my OB and she called in a RX for tamiflu. I've never been on it before but she assured me that it was safe. She said my cough may turn into pneumonia or bronchitis and that may be worse then taking the meds. I never went thru this with my boys so I'm a little unsure. I did research and it seems safe. What are others opinion on this. I just feel horrible.

A doctor can write a prescription for any patient, regardless of age. He may have meant that your son doesn't fit the criteria for being helped by the drug. For example, Tamiflu is only helpful if started in the first 48 hours of the flu. You don't want him taking a medicine that won't help, and drugs become less effective when given to people that they won't help.
Yes I took tamiflu when I was pregnant with my son it's on the lowest scale for harming you or the baby. In other words its safe.
I have then flu now and my doc put me on tamiflu. The studies that have been done in animals on the drug don't show any issues but it hasn't been tested enough. The cdc does recommend treatment with tamiflu if u have the flu or are exposed to someone with it while pregnant. The med will cause gi upset like nausea and vomiting amd diarrhea in 20% of people who take it. It's worth considering since flu rate deaths are highest in children, pregnant women and the elderly.
the dr done so many test but it seems like they cant find what whats wrong with her so my brother called me from the phippines they say they will send her to manila philippines because right now she is in san pablo laguna philippines please help me on my question cuz i been expending so much money on my own money she doesnt have any health care at all philipines if you dont have money they will lift you for died ....
For the last four days I been having flu like symtoms (fever, night sweats, body aches) , seen the dr. and he perscribed TAMIFLU. In what time frame would someone infected see symptoms if any at all?
2. Would you suggest testing and if so what test would be the correct test at 9 weeks. Would TAMIFLU affect the result?
Get to a doctor and get a tamiflu prescription asap if you test positive. It took me almost a month to recover.
I had Tamiflu once while working in a nursing home and only because i was the only charge nurse there at night. It was a precaution for me. I did NOT have the flu and did not want it.
I do not know when it is supposed to be administered but probably you could google it.........
I've never had the flu (knock on wood) and have never taken the vaccine. Surely down the road it might catch up with me but my personal convictions just won't let me do it.

Tamiflu is in no way safe during pregnancy. The risks outweigh the benefits I'm pretty sure.its class c. I had flu last January 7 months pregnant and they couldn't give me anything. But tell me to stay hydrated!!
At least in the US, this year's flu shot doesn't cover the most virulent strain. There have been major outbreaks where I live in the midwest. So even with the flu shot, you're still at risk.
Oh trust me I know the minute u think it starting to beat it it comes bk stronger I just had my last dose of tamiflu but then all the heat from my fever caused a gland in my vagina to go haywire which resulted in a cyst/boil and all the hot compress in the world could not bring to a head so I had to have it landed now I'm on antibiotics my poor baby all this medication
You should look at all the past threads in Tagalog and English, which I noticed are the two predominant languages in this forum. Many carriers in the Philippines are rejected for jobs both in the Philippines and especially the ones trying to go abroad to work in other countries. China also discriminates against its own population trying to get jobs. Some multinational companies who have set up shop (e.g. IBM) doesn't test for hbv.

Hello all, I recently made a stupid mistake in the Philippines. Had roughly 20 secs of unprotected sex with a sex worker in the philippines. I was drunk and stopped after I realized the severity of the situation. The next morning I was very scared and freaking out. I went to a nearby clinic and told the doctor that a condom broke during sex with a local sex worker. He mentioned a prophylaxis and antibiotics. I was worried about HIV and thought that this prophylaxis was for aids.
But can find no source for it in the Philippines. Not in Cebu, not in Manila. I have a pharmacy in Canada that can provide it, but it has to be shipped in ice and can take 5 days to arrive. Fed Ex won't take it. Neither will UPS. Have to use Canada Post which "promises" 4 days. But if it gets stalled in customs, it will lose its potency.
Can't find in Hong Kong or Singapore either.
Any suggestions?
