Common Questions and Answers about Tamiflu in h1n1

tamiflu

944080 tn?1298919453 Her friend who was in her last trimester of pregnancy had died of complications of the h1n1 virus. Her baby did survive. I think it is a big deal and it is something to be very cautious about. Also alot of women say that they have had H1N1 and were never tested for it...only had symptoms...so how do we really know who has actually had it or not? If you go to the CDC website it can give you some statistics on pregnant women and h1n1.

Avatar f tn My daughter-in-law was diagnosed w/OVCA May 14, 2009. She went through 4 chemos, radical and brutal surgery at The Mayo, where they removed all female organs, 6-8" of intestine, and a grapefruit sized mass from her diaphragm. She's due for a scan 11/2, and to go back to Mayo in mid-November where they will check for cancer in lungs/pleura. She is stage four, and since surgery has had 2 more chemos. Today, she was diagnosed w/H1N1, feels terrible, and has 100.4 temperature.

Avatar n tn I have had flu like symptoms for 10-12 days including a lower grade fever for 10 days (99-101 degrees). I called the doctor 10 days ago and they said it was likely h1n1 and not to come in, because they are not testing or treating with any anti virals at this point. They said just to go to the ER if had difficulty breathing.
Avatar f tn i was about 7 weeks pregnant and went to the ER,they said they werent sure if i had the swine flu or flu but not sure so they treated me for the swine flu anyways because i was pregnant, they gave me tamiflu....i wanted to know if there was any risks to the baby from having the flu or from the tamiflu?
721523 tn?1331581802 What kind of work do you do? Spreading flu among your coworkers is something to be avoided in any case, whether it's the H1N1 strain or the regular stuff that we guess at every year. It goes without saying that you shouldn't be around the very young, the very old, or in a place where you handle foods.
982641 tn?1252025412 So the CDC came out yesterday with their recommendation that Pregnant women be the first group to get vaccinated because 13% of the people that have died of swine flu in the US have been pregnant women (much higher than in the overall population). They plan to have the swine flu vaccine (H1N1) ready in October some time.
1052300 tn?1262940306 Glad you are going in to get checked out. Weird that they are putting the two with swine flu on Tamiflu. I read that doesn't work for H1N1, but I guess they know best! It doesn't sound like you have many symptoms so far, so try to stay calm... I'm betting it's just a reaction to the vaccine...
363110 tn?1340920419 Just curious to see if there are any forum members who've had H1N1, not the vaccine the actual flu bug it'sself. How seriously did you get it? I'm going in tomorrow for a nasal swab to see if that's what I've got right now. Basically I had my seasonal flu shot, but H1N1 wasn't out yet. We've had a nasty bug going around our home, and my OB thought maybe it was a gastrointerological thing, except I'm not dealing with any diarreah.
1029233 tn?1263966032 Hey ladies. I really really need your help. I know you are all probably tired of hearing about swine flu but where I live in Texas it is running rampant I have always been a worrier and always think the worst of everything. I have had a pretty rough first pregnancy. They found a subchorionic hematoma that was huge and I bled until I was 6 months pregnant. I thought I had swine flu this weekend after coming in contact with someone who had it.
229760 tn?1291467870 Hey ladies! I am not one to buy into all the media hype but I still believe in keeping myself and Cruz healthy and happy!!! My dad sent me this information and I think it is pretty great, so I passing it on to you! It is very straightforward and anyone can do it! (Pregnant and breastfeeding moms too) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dr.
478429 tn?1265244387 Also, just as a side note about the H1N1 vaccine that I read about in an Associated Press article yesterday--if you receive the H1N1 vaccine, you will need to get a booster four weeks later. So that is two vaccinations in the period of a month of a vaccine that normally (seasonal flu) only takes one shot.
Avatar n tn This, with 103 temps and every symptom listed by the CDC. They tested rapid test + for A type which most likely was H1N1 in lack of community outbreak and too early for seasonal flu. We were very much on the fence about the vaccine which in my area isn't until early December, but now don't need to make a decision. Scary, aggressive ...
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken or been asked to take the swine flu or H1N1 vaccination? My Ob has strongly advised me to take it after my 16 week. I told him I heard about the side effects of the vaccine eg. rashes, skin allergies etc but he told me that the side effects are minimal compared to the complications of the H1N1 virus to the mother and child.
Avatar f tn Call your doctor, I had the H1N1 at 21 weeks it was horrible ughh. But you can take the tamiflu they prescribe so if u do have the flu its best to get meds now.
Avatar f tn There is no treatment for H1N1 except Tamiflu which only shortens the duration of the illness by 1 day, so why even bother. H1N1 can lead to upper resperatory problems, and this is when you need to seek help. The media has blown this way out of proportion, many more people die from the seasonal flu.
Avatar f tn doctors were able to do a C-section to save the baby but the mother died. Pregnant women: 1% of the population, 6% of deaths with the H1N1 flu virus. I got the vaccine over 2 weeks ago at the end of my 1st trimester, and had absolutely no side effects. I feel very relieved that I and my unborn child are now protected.
168348 tn?1379357075 Based on preliminary data from adults participating in multiple clinical studies, the 2009 H1N1 vaccines induce a robust immune response in most healthy adults eight to 10 days after a single dose, as occurs with the seasonal influenza vaccine. Clinical studies under way will provide additional information about the optimal dose in children. The recommendations for dosing will be updated if indicated by findings from those studies. The findings are expected in the near future.
478429 tn?1265244387 My boyfriend is an emerg nurse in a big city and every pregnant woman that came in with H1N1 ended up in the ICU with serious complications. Women up to a month post partum are also hit hard. This flu hits harder and the concern is the number of patience that develope pneumonia as well as high fever. A high fever during pregnancy can have serious consequences for the unborn child.
151928 tn?1275707337 //www.who.int/csr/disease/swineflu/notes/h1n1_pregnancy_20090731/en/). After having said all of that, I will be asking my neurologist (who is following my recovery from GBS) about it at my follow-up on Friday. I'll let you know what he says. Should be interesting. The best defense against H1N1 is hand washing and sneezing in your sleeve.
168348 tn?1379357075 Pregnant women who are otherwise healthy have been severely impacted by the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus (formerly called “novel H1N1 flu” or “swine flu”). In comparison to the general population, a greater proportion of pregnant women infected with the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus have been hospitalized. In addition, severe illness and death has occurred in pregnant women.
Avatar f tn //******************/forums/fm.asp?i=876187 In the early stages of acidic pH in the body’s tissues, the warning symptoms are mild. These include such things as skin eruptions, headaches, allergies, colds, flu and sinus problems. These symptoms are frequently treated (manipulated) with antibiotic drugs and suppressive medications. The longer and the deeper we become acidic the more our illness takes hold so it’s best to fight acidic conditions early on and in every presenting clinical situation.
Avatar f tn Narcolepsy-cataplexy + frontal epilepsy after taking two pills of TAMIFLU in 2007. My husband was ill, and our family doctor recommanded me and my baby to take the same medecine otherwise we should also catch the "bad" flu. I took two pills of TAMIFLU and fell down at my office, unanimated but not unconscious, unable to move, prisonner in my own body.
