Supposedly a temp of 38 or above is a hallmark sign of swine flu. My mum had everything else but the temp and was given tamiflu. For three days she slept in bed, looked really poorly and had sips of drinks. By the third day she began to improve. At the moment she's poorly in bed again with a throat and chest infection. I think everybody should be checked for swine flu. My neuro put me on amantadine for fatigue, this was one of the first anti virals that came out for flu.

hi... i have recently been diagnosed with swine flu and am on tamiflu (with two days of the course left to go) I have also got some kind of chest infection on top on this and my doctor has given me prednisolone steroid tablets and an inhaler. the chest infection is not getting any better (cant get in touch with my doctor till monday now) what is worrying me today is that my breathing is still bad..and any slight movements walking leads to coughing and lack of breath....today though..

My doctor prescribed me tamiflu as well. She said that 95% of people that get tested for the swineflu show up positive. They arent really taking to much precaution i just have to take 7 days off work and call them if anything changes. I hope your hubby gets better and you don't get anything!

i was about 7 weeks pregnant and went to the ER,they said they werent sure if i had the swine flu or flu but not sure so they treated me for the swine flu anyways because i was pregnant,they gave me tamiflu....i wanted to know if there was any risks to the baby from having the flu or from the tamiflu?

Glad you are going in to get checked out. Weird that they are putting the two with swine flu on Tamiflu. I read that doesn't work for H1N1, but I guess they know best! It doesn't sound like you have many symptoms so far, so try to stay calm... I'm betting it's just a reaction to the vaccine...

OB says to take Tamiflu and start today, but Tamiflu is not recommended for pregnancy based on unknown reactions to unborn children. Hubby and I don't know what decision is the best for us. Any opinions? The prescription is waiting for me...just so scared either way. I am leaning towards taking my chances and not taking it, but that is not the recommendation. What if I harm my baby by taking it? What if I do by not taking it??

I recently read an article that said that overuse of antiviral medications like Tamiflu and Relenza could potentially ease the way for drug resistant strains of H1N1. The CDC and WHO are recommending that patients with mild to moderate symptoms should not take antiviral medication. Just a thought.

i have ms and now have symptoms im told are consistant probebly swine flue ,. They are no longer testing here for swine flue just treating it.

i went to the er when 7 weeks preg. and they said since im preg and think its the flu or swine flu,they treated me for the swine and being pregnant does make it worse...i was so sick and didnt want to go anywhere for about 2 weeks,and if they perscribed you tamiflu...that made me start throwing up....i hope all is well and you get feelin better sooner.

Bring it on Swine.....I am ready for you. I will never get a vaccination for anything. I believe if you don't die from the Swine, you will die from the vaccine...one way or the other .....its wreckess ..ino....but i am entitled to do with myself as I wish. The swine flu does hit the chest rather hard, and even more so for those with lung conditions. If you find that you are getting rather short of breath, you should see your doctor. Also if you go in the first 48 hours of acquiring the flu, you can get Tamiflu from your doctor. It helps to reduce the severity of symptoms and shortens the duration of the flu. This is also preventative for any complications that may arise with severe flu symptoms.

Hey ladies. I really really need your help. I know you are all probably tired of hearing about swine flu but where I live in Texas it is running rampant I have always been a worrier and always think the worst of everything. I have had a pretty rough first pregnancy. They found a subchorionic hematoma that was huge and I bled until I was 6 months pregnant. I thought I had swine flu this weekend after coming in contact with someone who had it.

Personal experience within my family, has shown the H1N1 to be extremely aggressive and withing 12-36hrs of first symptoms two of my children were on full asthma meds including inhaled steroids and antibiotics for secondary infection & Tamiflu. This, with 103 temps and every symptom listed by the CDC. They tested rapid test + for A type which most likely was H1N1 in lack of community outbreak and too early for seasonal flu.

Would herpes cause strong flu symptoms without the sores? my doc recons i should take tamiflu as it sounds like swine/seasonal flu. hope it is! am of course goin for a sexual health screen but have been recommended to wait 2 weeks as things wont show before this.. so in the meantime.. i'm gettin a little worried. :( any advice would be very helpful. also.. any other stds cause these kinda reactions? It was raining here for almost a week, just nasty weather, and the sites where the vaccines were being administered were upwards of an hour from my home. so I decided to not get it just yet. Well the next day, being Saturday evening, I started feeling so ill. It is now Tuesday and yesterday after taking my temperature with it being 100.5, I called my doctor and they let me spend a few hours in Labor & Delivery. I felt awful. my highest temp was 101.8 by the time i got to L&D.

Because of my pregnancy, he was isolated at his mothers house for a week and I was immediately put on Tamiflu since I was already exposed. I was told I needed to wait til a few days after I was done taking it to get my shot because of the unknown effect of the Tamiflu on the vaccines effectiveness, but after coming that close to getting sick, I am definitely getting the shot.

I am being treated for it right now with Tamiflu...and I am absolutely miserable. Obviously, I am VERY worried about the potential complications it can cause during pregnancy. :( My doctor is most worried about dehydration, since I am already having preterm contractions and we obviously want to avoid delivering too early. Hi......i read an article about H1N1 virus..it says: to protect yourself from the virus"swine flu" it will be good for you to drink a cup of water with full tea spoon of Sodium bicarbonate daily, which will make your blood more alkaline. and the alkalinity is not favourable enviroment for the virus ...and the virus will day the Q is: is this true? can Sodium bicarbonate harm my body?

Tamiflu is a cure not a vaccine,like i said TAKE OREGENO OIL FOR ANY FLU...and you will knock it down ,within hours.

So I am wondering if this is just due to alcohol withdraws, or if it could be something more serious. Without my knowledge I found out that I had been around a few people with swine flu, and now I'm pretty worried.

I was just wondering if anyone has actually spoke to someone or actually seen anyone, either in person or interviewed, with the swine flu diagnosis. I mean with the actual dianosis by a Doctor and the CDC. I was just curious since I have a few friends that went to Mexico about 10 days ago for a wedding and noone has any symptoms or has been sick from the flu and there was 60 people that went to the wedding. I have not seen anybody come out on tv or by satellite that has the flu.

So, this morning, which was actually 48 hours later, I decided to call the doc. again since my fever and nausea and not eating has not going away. They ordered the tamiflu for me an my husband but the peditrician did not see the necessity for my son to be on it. So, that just totally confused me. I took the meds. but now I feel even worse so i just hope that the meds will not cause me more issues.
