tamiflu

Avatar f tn Mainly for prevention i was exposed to three different people who had it but I started showing some symptoms it just makes me nervous I've been uncomfortable since yesterday a lot of stretching feelings and some mild cramps.
Avatar f tn My OB called me and told me that as a prevention she wanted to put me on Tamiflu which is not recommended for pregnant women because the side effects are unknown. She said that the benefits would outweigh the negatives most likely because there have already been deaths linked to this strain of flu. The pharmacist didn't seem worried because I am 18 weeks along. Any of you ladies been put on tamiflu? Should I trust my doctor and pharmacist?
Avatar n tn Flu vaccine does not work. But Tamiflu is safe. Rest with plenty of fluids and it shall pass.
Avatar f tn I agree with the ladies above get to the dr asap. They will give you tamiflu. I felt better a day later took longe for the cough to go away. Good luck . I kno you feel like dealth. Hope for a speedy and safe recovery.
Avatar m tn Tamiflu as I understand it was used for the Swine Flu. So it is not likely to work if you have a different strain of the influenza virus. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
7714453 tn?1394714282 ll cause harm to my baby. Anyone been prescribed meds for flu this pregnancy? (Tamiflu in particular..) Any natural remedies? That's the route I like to go.. I've never had the flu in my life.
6576704 tn?1383187473 First off, h1n1 will make you very sick! It's like an extreme version of the flu. Second of all, doctors won't prescribe you something that is going to hurt the baby.
Avatar n tn A doctor can write a prescription for any patient, regardless of age. He may have meant that your son doesn't fit the criteria for being helped by the drug. For example, Tamiflu is only helpful if started in the first 48 hours of the flu. You don't want him taking a medicine that won't help, and drugs become less effective when given to people that they won't help.
789911 tn?1368636783 We can take the vaccinations, I just had the regular flu shot. I had one last year also, while on tx. Dr. actually recommended it since my ANC was sooooo low. Don't know about the tamiflu.
905197 tn?1282232033 My doctor prescribed me tamiflu as well. She said that 95% of people that get tested for the swineflu show up positive. They arent really taking to much precaution i just have to take 7 days off work and call them if anything changes. I hope your hubby gets better and you don't get anything!
Avatar m tn Does it hurt when you breath or it is hard to breath? Those are signs of pneumonia as well and fever but fever is part of the flu too.Good to get it checked just in case.
Avatar f tn If you have the flu you need to see your doctor. Tamiflu, a prescription medication, can decrease the severity and the length of the flu but you have to take it right away. Drink more water and rest - but first, see your doc.
Avatar n tn I was wondering if it is safe to take tamiflu if you end of getting the flu. Has anyone taken it yet?
Avatar f tn s potential damage to the liver. I have compensated cirrhosis (7 yrs) and am basically very healthy except for this flu. I've read that the drug elevates liver enzymes. Can't call gi doc as Friday night. Thanks for any comments!
Avatar n tn I am 5 weeks pregnant with my 3RD baby. I came down with a cold on Thursday. My cough is horrible and I have been running fevers a lot. I called my OB and she called in a RX for tamiflu. I've never been on it before but she assured me that it was safe. She said my cough may turn into pneumonia or bronchitis and that may be worse then taking the meds. I never went thru this with my boys so I'm a little unsure. I did research and it seems safe. What are others opinion on this.
Avatar f tn Did your OB prescribe tamiflu? I'm sorry for you! My husband has it and I have a headache, nausea and my temp got up 2 degree higher earlier has been back to normal since but don't feel like I have the flu. I started tamiflu a few hours ago and all this makes me very nervous. I haven't even taken tylenol bc I hate putting meds in my body.
Avatar f tn My husband and MIL had the flu over Christmas, but I had a flu shot and was fine. You can take Tamiflu while pregnant if you do get the flu.
167 tn?1374173817 I am leaning towards not taking it. I just hope this is the right decision for me and for us. They want my two year old son to take it as well. I don't think that will be happening either. I just can't believe they are positive!! They actually don't seem more sick than I would expect them to be with a regular flu, so it is seeming to be mild for the most part.
8960138 tn?1407673893 (,i so not wish this to no one i feel sooo streamly sick, lots of fever that cant keep down only when i take tynelon witch i been taking since yesturday, went to the ER TOday and they confirm i got the flu,i can take mothing but tynelon and lots of liquids,i just want this sickness to end, anybody in the same boat,or has been??
Avatar n tn The vaccine acts by introducing antigens, which stimulates your body to make antibodies against the disease. When you are exposed a second time to the same antigens (by way of coming into contact with the actual flu virus), your body is able to recognize the disease, and the antibodies go into action to prevent you from getting the flu, or to lessen the symptoms and duration by basically beating down the virus. Tamiflu isn't a vaccine, nor a substitute for a vaccine.
Avatar f tn I'm sure your doctor knows that the benefits of taking the medication far outweighs the risk of NOT taking it. Get some rest, stay hydrated, take your meds and vitamins, etc... hope you feel better soon!!
Avatar f tn t realize how sick I had gotten and it turned into pneumonia. I was hospitalized for 9 days with it.
6822962 tn?1396329659 I ended up in urgent care where they told me i got the deadly kind of flu. He prescribed me Tamiflu and was wondering if anyone else has taken it. Did you experience any side effects to you or baby. I am worried about my baby.
Avatar n tn If you have the flu you need to see a doctor. It can be dangerous for prego women.. I had the flu a couple weeks ago and they prescribed me tamiflu but you need to see a doctor first. Good luck!
1029233 tn?1263966032 I went home on anti-viral meds safe for pregnancy and I had a phone call a couple of days later to say I tested positive for the H1N1 swine flu. I was stunned as all I had experienced was flu sympotoms. Nothing stood out as life-threatening. As the doc on the phone told me - ''you're just like 98 % of the population who make a recovery after having what are flu symptoms.'' My baby was fine. I was ill for a few days but coughing over a few weeks. It was no big deal.
Avatar f tn In the US, the hospitalization rate, according to the CDC figures from the Wahshington Post, was 9 out of 141 confirmed cases---BUT keep in mind that, if hospitalization occurs on average on, say, the 5th to 7th day of illness (which may or may not be the median for this flu, and probably no one knows yet), the 9/141 figure misleads, and one would have to get a ratio of 9 to the number of confirmed cases up to 5-7 days ago----not too hard to do if one checks the news reports from those dates,
