Tamiflu for pregnant women

Common Questions and Answers about Tamiflu for pregnant women

tamiflu

Avatar f tn My OB called me and told me that as a prevention she wanted to put me on Tamiflu which is not recommended for pregnant women because the side effects are unknown. She said that the benefits would outweigh the negatives most likely because there have already been deaths linked to this strain of flu. The pharmacist didn't seem worried because I am 18 weeks along. Any of you ladies been put on tamiflu? Should I trust my doctor and pharmacist?
7714453 tn?1394714282 My bf got it and while he was being seen in the ER they had me be seen also and perscribed tamiflu. Ive heard pregnant women can get the flu shot but id rather not :/ flu passed thru me and so far baby boy is healthy. 5 weeks left til hes here!
Avatar n tn Yes. Your doctor should have given you a prescription of Tamiflu immediately. It would have helped tremendously. If you are having trouble breathing and your chest hurts, you need to get to the doctor, immediately.

167 tn?1374173817 All they can tell me is that their recommendation for pregnant women, especially in the third trimester, is to take Tamiflu even without symptoms if there has been exposure but that it is my decision. I just cannot decide which way to go but I'm leaning towards not taking the Tamiflu. However, if I get very sick, I will regret that decision as well. UGH...
Avatar f tn Yes I took tamiflu when I was pregnant with my son it's on the lowest scale for harming you or the baby. In other words its safe.
Avatar m tn it was too late for Tamiflu) and he was good to go. Tamiflu is very expensive and from what I have heard time, rest, and fluids unfortuantely.
Avatar f tn 30 weeks pregnant, has anyone ever took tamiflu while pregnant? Any side affects to you or your child after birth?
Avatar n tn I am 5 weeks pregnant with my 3RD baby. I came down with a cold on Thursday. My cough is horrible and I have been running fevers a lot. I called my OB and she called in a RX for tamiflu. I've never been on it before but she assured me that it was safe. She said my cough may turn into pneumonia or bronchitis and that may be worse then taking the meds. I never went thru this with my boys so I'm a little unsure. I did research and it seems safe. What are others opinion on this.
Avatar n tn If you have the flu you need to see a doctor. It can be dangerous for prego women.. I had the flu a couple weeks ago and they prescribed me tamiflu but you need to see a doctor first. Good luck!
Avatar n tn I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and just found out I have the flu. My OB put me on Tamiflu but my primary said she wasn't sure about it. Has anyone been on this while pregnant? I'm worried it's going to hurt the baby. Also it did get the flu vaccine, I was only a couple weeks pregnant so I didn't know but I'm a little mad they push a vaccine that obviously doesn't work.
688450 tn?1259468734 They did not get it, AND when one of them went for the Tamiflu, the pharmacy was out! so, the little one did missed the window for the tamiflu. (they are both OK now) and the last was a girl who worked in radiology. Probably caught it from a patient. She is OK now, but she said she felt like absoulute ****. She said her skin even hurt. So, they all are fine now, but the CDC says if you get the flu this season, you have a greater than 75% chance (or is it higher?
6822962 tn?1396329659 ) If I were to get sick again (pregnant or not) I would want tamiflu again!! Im 32w3d and my princess is doing great! Hope you feel better!

982641 tn?1252025412 So the CDC came out yesterday with their recommendation that Pregnant women be the first group to get vaccinated because 13% of the people that have died of swine flu in the US have been pregnant women (much higher than in the overall population). They plan to have the swine flu vaccine (H1N1) ready in October some time.
Avatar f tn Tamiflu is in no way safe during pregnancy. The risks outweigh the benefits I'm pretty sure.its class c. I had flu last January 7 months pregnant and they couldn't give me anything. But tell me to stay hydrated!!

Avatar f tn If what he got really is confirmed to be flu (via nasal swab test), then his doctor should have prescribed Tamiflu for both him and you. Just take it and you will be fine.
168348 tn?1379357075 Not enough testing has been done on this specific vaccine especially in Pregnant women considering the fact that they only tested on pregnant women for 3 weeks. Who knows what the effects will be on mother and child after the vaccine has been in their body after 6 months or more.
Avatar n tn He was given Tamiful within the first 48 hours and he is recovering very well. I do believe had it not been for the Tamiflu he would be feeling much worse for a longer period of time. I'm a believer!
Avatar n tn Have you ever had the flu pregnant and how did it effect you and the baby? Also what did you take to treat it my Primary Dr. Wants me to take Tamiflu and im not comfortable with it.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! I went to the ER yesterday because i thought i was getting the flu and strep throat, but according to their tests they both came negative. Well, the doc decided to give me the tamiflu and other medicine for bronchitis. They didn't do a chest xray because im 16 weeks pregnant, but because of my bath cough. No fever-- but everything did come up, water, oj, fruit and yogurt.
