Common Questions and Answers about Tamiflu for pediatrics
tamiflu
I forget that not everybody knows. I'm a physician. I practiced Pediatrics for 23 years before being disabled by chronic verigo - not MS. The MS showed up four years later.
You can read my story in my journal.

BTW I recommend that everyone write their story up in their journal so we all can read it and understand more as we talk about stuff.
I am 5 weeks pregnant with my 3RD baby. I came down with a cold on Thursday. My cough is horrible and I have been running fevers a lot. I called my OB and she called in a RX for tamiflu. I've never been on it before but she assured me that it was safe. She said my cough may turn into pneumonia or bronchitis and that may be worse then taking the meds. I never went thru this with my boys so I'm a little unsure. I did research and it seems safe. What are others opinion on this.
Mainly for prevention i was exposed to three different people who had it but I started showing some symptoms it just makes me nervous I've been uncomfortable since yesterday a lot of stretching feelings and some mild cramps.
I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and just found out I have the flu. My OB put me on Tamiflu but my primary said she wasn't sure about it. Has anyone been on this while pregnant? I'm worried it's going to hurt the baby. Also it did get the flu vaccine, I was only a couple weeks pregnant so I didn't know but I'm a little mad they push a vaccine that obviously doesn't work.
OB says to take Tamiflu and start today, but Tamiflu is not recommended for pregnancy based on unknown reactions to unborn children. Hubby and I don't know what decision is the best for us. Any opinions? The prescription is waiting for me...just so scared either way. I am leaning towards taking my chances and not taking it, but that is not the recommendation. What if I harm my baby by taking it? What if I do by not taking it??
My OB called me and told me that as a prevention she wanted to put me on Tamiflu which is not recommended for pregnant women because the side effects are unknown. She said that the benefits would outweigh the negatives most likely because there have already been deaths linked to this strain of flu. The pharmacist didn't seem worried because I am 18 weeks along. Any of you ladies been put on tamiflu? Should I trust my doctor and pharmacist?
I agree with the ladies above get to the dr asap. They will give you tamiflu. I felt better a day later took longe for the cough to go away. Good luck . I kno you feel like dealth. Hope for a speedy and safe recovery.
Yes. Your doctor should have given you a prescription of Tamiflu immediately. It would have helped tremendously. If you are having trouble breathing and your chest hurts, you need to get to the doctor, immediately.
ll cause harm to my baby. Anyone been prescribed meds for flu this pregnancy? (Tamiflu in particular..)
Any natural remedies? That's the route I like to go.. I've never had the flu in my life.
ve super sick since yesterday went in to the er tonight and was told i have the h1n1 infuenza they told me i have to be put on medication wich is tamiflu but i am so scared for my baby I'm am 31 weeks pregnant and have two other kids has anyone experience this while pregnant and took that medication was it safe for baby?
I got the flu four days later. My physician actually diagnosed it as the flute. Put me on Tamiflu period last and only 4 days. Then 10 days later I developed what look like hives on the back of one of my legs. Then the other leg. A few days later. This lasted a week. I was concerned about HIV so I got a 13-day Duo test. It came back negative. Then I got swollen armpit glands. And growing glands. They're soft to the touch period and sore. Also somewhat of a rash.
Just picked up rx forTamiflu and upon investigating see it may not be liver safe. I have compensated cirrohsis (7yrs) and healthy. (Liver function very good.)
Anyone with experience with this drug?
Thanks and happy new year!
I ended up in urgent care where they told me i got the deadly kind of flu. He prescribed me Tamiflu and was wondering if anyone else has taken it. Did you experience any side effects to you or baby. I am worried about my baby.
Tamiflu is in no way safe during pregnancy. The risks outweigh the benefits I'm pretty sure.its class c. I had flu last January 7 months pregnant and they couldn't give me anything. But tell me to stay hydrated!!
I was diagnosed with influenza on sunday in the er and the doctor prescribed me with tamiflu 75mg but I'm worried about my baby getting harmed by the medication because I'm only 14 weeks...any comments or recommendations???
If what he got really is confirmed to be flu (via nasal swab test), then his doctor should have prescribed Tamiflufor both him and you. Just take it and you will be fine.
I have been so miserable for a whole week now. There is no relief and at times I feel like I'm dying. This might sound dramatic but I am serious my nose runs like a faucet I cannot breathe through it my TEETH hurt so bad I can't chew a banana. My throat and mouth are on fire because of all the mouth breathing and the aches pains and chills are enough to send me up the wall! I have never had the flu before but I wouldn't wish this on Hitler!
Yes, thanksgiving week, my son had the flu. I was so sick and was sure I caught it too, but I could only take tylenol and Tamiflu. Drink lots of liquids. Other than that, you're literally going to have to sweat it out. Hope you feel well soon.
