Tamiflu for parvo virus

Common Questions and Answers about Tamiflu for parvo virus

tamiflu

Avatar m tn it was too late for Tamiflu) and he was good to go. Tamiflu is very expensive and from what I have heard time, rest, and fluids unfortuantely.
Avatar f tn You should be made aware that the parvo virus can live in the ground where ever your dog has been for SEVEN years.
4640758 tn?1357483092 s had Parvo, she may not need annual boosters for the Parvo virus. At the beginning, with my dog, I took her for her yearly shots, without thinking. Then it dawned on me, and I spoke to the vet and had her titer tested every year. And she showed constant immunity to Parvo! You could maybe mention this to your vet and see what he says?
Avatar n tn Is it normal for my dog to be extremely weak and tired after receiving an IV and meds for Parvo treatment? I took her in this morning to the vet and was given all the material needed for treatment. However, now my dog is extremely sleepy and weak, and she can't even stand up now. PLEASE HELP!
Avatar m tn Does anyone know how long the parvo virus will last in your carpets without the carpets being steam cleaned? There was only one parvo poopy done on the carpet and that was cleaned with clorox wipes and dish liquid. There was a about 4 pee-pee spots that was also cleaned with clorox wipes.
1096512 tn?1384889778 My dog,Tibetan Mastiff breedj,just1.5 mon,has been vaccinated with Parvo virus just 5 days ago as it was infected .My dog seems to be well since she got vaccinated. My vet says that she will fine and there will be no other complications later. But when had the infection she had diarrhea and high fever. But now she seems to be very well.Should I worry about anything else? Are there any other signs to know if dog is well or not? What other vaccines should be given for my pup?
Avatar f tn People cannot contract parvo. No worries. I used to work for a vet, so you can trust me on this.
Avatar f tn the virus itself causes pneumonia, pneumonia is a symptom not a condition....check the expiration date on the tamiflu and a pneumonia shot probably wont do any good seeing as this is an unseen unheard of virus until now.
Avatar n tn Did you purchase or adopt an infected dog? I ask because parvo is a very hardy virus and can live in the environment for months. So think contact with viral laden feces that may be in the yard.
1456473 tn?1365827455 It is likely this is Parvo virus. It may not be -it may just be a bad bout of infectious gastroenteritis. But little pups like that are susceptible to Parvo which is highly infectious, and believe me (I don't mean to scare you but I have to be honest) -it can kill them. This pup needs to see the vet and urgently. I would beg borrow or whatever to get her there. Please call the vet before taking her in, and explain the situation.
Avatar f tn Is he at home with her? Usually dogs with the Parvo virus are so desperately and seriously ill, they have to be hospitalized, and monitored carefully. This virus has such a devastating effect on the gut, that dogs with Parvo usually cannot even keep down water. And most times their antibiotics have to be administered via I.V. It's true that Parvo victims sometimes don't make it. But I can attest to the fact that some definitely DO, and go on to be very healthy happy dogs.
Avatar f tn I agree, I would even wait a year (if it were me) if I were getting a puppy less than 6 months. Technically, parvo can survive in the environment for up to 9 months. A great solution, like already mentioned, is to adopt an older dog that has vaccines and is (in theory) immune to the virus. Then you won't have to worry so much!
944080 tn?1298919453 It really worries me also. I do know a few pregnant women who contracted the virus and survived. I am sure alot of pregnant women have caught it and been fine. But, I also know of ones who have contracted the H1N1 and have sadly passed. One of my moms employees had to take off for a funeral last week. Her friend who was in her last trimester of pregnancy had died of complications of the h1n1 virus. Her baby did survive. I think it is a big deal and it is something to be very cautious about.
Avatar f tn A respitory virus and that now i have cold like symptoms and a rash on my face. She said i coukd have parvo and they drew blood to find out for sure but i don't have results yet. She says my baby can become anemic and can need a blood transfusion while in the womb. I am so terrified.
Avatar m tn Parvo is my first thought...You need to get him to his Vet ASAP.....If it is Parvo, time is of the essence & treatment must begin immediately......Make the call....Good luck & let us know what happens.....
Avatar n tn I agree with Margot.....My first thought is always PARVO & trust me, it's fatal if you don't HURRY & get her to her Vet! Plus, a death from this virus is something you DO NOT want to see.....Make the call, now....Let us know what you find out & good luck.....
Avatar n tn Although an autopsy would be the best way to find out why your puppy died, if you have any samples of the bloody stool left in the yard, you could take it to your veterinarian for a parvo test, since the virus is passed in the stool and is very hardy and can live for up to a year in the environment.
Avatar m tn I got the flu four days later. My physician actually diagnosed it as the flute. Put me on Tamiflu period last and only 4 days. Then 10 days later I developed what look like hives on the back of one of my legs. Then the other leg. A few days later. This lasted a week. I was concerned about HIV so I got a 13-day Duo test. It came back negative. Then I got swollen armpit glands. And growing glands. They're soft to the touch period and sore. Also somewhat of a rash.
Avatar n tn I believe that I am about 40% better than at the height of the virus...and I am grateful for that....but would like to get better soon.
Avatar f tn I've had painful joints and other symptoms of Parvovirus B19 for almost a year and a half now. I was 23 when I started experiencing these symptoms. I have seen numerous doctors with no avail. I have found that Rheumatologist don't understand the virus. Although I tested positive for Parvo b19, I was told the most I could suffer from a virus is a few months. They put me on rheumatoid arthritis medications as a best guess, but I stopped using them.
Avatar f tn Could a healthy diet prevent a puppy from getting parvo virus??? if so what may that be, what kind of foods or dog food should i feed them or what would you recommend...what type of puppy food would you recommend i feed my puppies when they first get there teeth...

Avatar f tn Oh that is good news that she seems to be recovering. Parvo is a horrible virus, and easily caught. My dog had Parvo when she was much much younger, and before she came to live with me. Mine also made a good recovery, and has gone on to be a very healthy dog, generally speaking. It's great that she already has some appetite back. But be careful because the virus severely damages the gut lining, and even though she is fighting off the virus now, the damage will take some time to fully heal.
Avatar n tn My husband tested positive for flu and now im sick. Ive already started taking tamiflu and cough syrup with a decongestant. How dangerous is the flu to my baby. I know a high temperature can cause birth deffects. Luckly i havent had a fever. But what about the virus in general?
