167426 tn?1254086235 Leslee had the flu shot this year, but her daughter that lives with them and is going to college developed Influenza A, last Tuedsay, Wenesday went to ER, dx with the flu, started on Tamiflu 75mg twice daily for 5 days, this put Leslee at great risk because of her immune system, after doing some research I found that the Tamiflu also is used to prevent flu, so I called Les and she went to her clinic today and they have now ordered the Tamiflu for her 75mg daily for 10 days.
Avatar n tn Is it normal for my dog to be extremely weak and tired after receiving an IV and meds for Parvo treatment? I took her in this morning to the vet and was given all the material needed for treatment. However, now my dog is extremely sleepy and weak, and she can't even stand up now. PLEASE HELP!
Avatar f tn My daughter just called the vet and they are taking their new puppy in because the vet thinks she has parvo. Can humans get canine parvo? She has a 7 year old child. Also, is the treatment for dogs usually successful?
789911 tn?1368636783 I forgot to ask the doc.
Avatar f tn My OB called me and told me that as a prevention she wanted to put me on Tamiflu which is not recommended for pregnant women because the side effects are unknown. She said that the benefits would outweigh the negatives most likely because there have already been deaths linked to this strain of flu. The pharmacist didn't seem worried because I am 18 weeks along. Any of you ladies been put on tamiflu? Should I trust my doctor and pharmacist?
Avatar m tn Parvo is my first thought...You need to get him to his Vet ASAP.....If it is Parvo, time is of the essence & treatment must begin immediately......Make the call....Good luck & let us know what happens.....
501663 tn?1238377713 Thanks for your responces. As far as symptoms I have swollen joints and fatigue, many symptoms or Ra. Which led my Rhumatogist to treat me with Methotrexate before ever knowing I have Parvo. They also in fact they treat parvo with methotrexate, Other syptoms I have are rashes and sun sinsitivity I have lung problems and they believe that also may come from the parvo.. Interesting....
2121037 tn?1338287555 My Dobyhound(Doberman/hound dog) contracted parvo when she was a pup, and I felt the same way you do now. It was terrible watching her in such a state. She wouldn't eat, could barely drink, and had to be carried around because she was so weak. My first line of advice, is to stay away from city doctors. I took Ginger (my dog obviously) to city vets and they all told me I needed to euthanize her because she was too far gone.
Avatar n tn You don't say how old your dog is! If this is a puppy, you need to head to an Emergency center NOW! My first thought is "Parvo" & it's fatal (Quickly) without treatment......
Avatar f tn I think my 4 month old puppy has parvo... he got sick on monday and then we gave him aloe(oral). He pooped everything out, at that point i didnt think it was parvo, he got alot better. But then he started to throw up then pooped blood, since then it has been a getting better then sick again. we gave him baby tylenol for his fever last night... now he is not throwing up but still pooping water like blood.
Avatar f tn You should be made aware that the parvo virus can live in the ground where ever your dog has been for SEVEN years.
730826 tn?1317943334 I got a new puppy for a wedding present. We got here where parvo wasnt a big risk. We made sure she woudl be completely covered for parvo when we took her home. We have been home for 3 weeks now and my pup (4.5 months) puked this morning (not liquidy) and now has slight diarrhea. She ate her lunch slower than she usually does but I did give her a bit of rice between breakfast and lunch to help her digestion. Is it possible she could have it.
167 tn?1374173817 OB says to take Tamiflu and start today, but Tamiflu is not recommended for pregnancy based on unknown reactions to unborn children. Hubby and I don't know what decision is the best for us. Any opinions? The prescription is waiting for me...just so scared either way. I am leaning towards taking my chances and not taking it, but that is not the recommendation. What if I harm my baby by taking it? What if I do by not taking it??
Avatar f tn We have had in her for treatment a total of three times and she received transfusions each time. She is drinking water, and peeing. We are getting the wormer in her by forcing peanut butter laced in her... but she won't eat. She has not eaten food on her own since Friday. Now we are worred we will lose her to starvation. Does anybody have any ideas on getting her to eat on her own?
Avatar n tn I am 5 weeks pregnant with my 3RD baby. I came down with a cold on Thursday. My cough is horrible and I have been running fevers a lot. I called my OB and she called in a RX for tamiflu. I've never been on it before but she assured me that it was safe. She said my cough may turn into pneumonia or bronchitis and that may be worse then taking the meds. I never went thru this with my boys so I'm a little unsure. I did research and it seems safe. What are others opinion on this.
Avatar f tn Mainly for prevention i was exposed to three different people who had it but I started showing some symptoms it just makes me nervous I've been uncomfortable since yesterday a lot of stretching feelings and some mild cramps.
Avatar n tn He was given Tamiful within the first 48 hours and he is recovering very well. I do believe had it not been for the Tamiflu he would be feeling much worse for a longer period of time. I'm a believer!
1843959 tn?1324629150 The remaining puppies need medical treatment URGENTLY! Parvo virus does kill dogs, and little puppies have least resistance to this disease. They will need to be hospitalized immediately, and probably given IV fluids and IV antibiotics. Without that care, they will certainly die. This isn't something that can be treated at home. If they get emergency care now, they have a slim chance of survival. Not all may make it, but I hope they do. Do not try to make them eat. Just get them to a vet.
Avatar m tn i have a 4 mth old beagle mix she was active and now she just wants to lay around im forcing gatorade but when she gets up to walk she about falls over i dont have money for a vet i need advice she is like my child
Avatar f tn 30 weeks pregnant, has anyone ever took tamiflu while pregnant? Any side affects to you or your child after birth?
Avatar f tn I love my new vet ! Not only did his clinic find out immediately why one of my dogs had diarrhea, even after two other vets missed it.... but my vet shares the same views that I have on vaccinations. I had taken one of my dogs to have her rabies shot and we did the vaccination. Afterwards, he noticed in my dog's previous medical records that I like to have titers ran first, before I vaccinate my dogs for other diseases.
Avatar n tn Thanks for the reply. Did you have parvo too? I have thought that perhaps the mono/parvo has brought something autoimmune out of me. It's frustrating b/c my symptoms don't seem to be "textbook" which makes drs just shake their heads and basically say, "I don 't know what it is." Frustrating! How long did it take you to get the AOSD diagnosis? Rashes....every once in a blue moon. Nothing that I can see a pattern with. Thanks so much!
Avatar n tn I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and just found out I have the flu. My OB put me on Tamiflu but my primary said she wasn't sure about it. Has anyone been on this while pregnant? I'm worried it's going to hurt the baby. Also it did get the flu vaccine, I was only a couple weeks pregnant so I didn't know but I'm a little mad they push a vaccine that obviously doesn't work.
