167 tn?1374173817 Hi there, I am soooo sorry about this news! If you are still on the fence about getting the H1N1 vaccine or the Tamiflu,is there maybe a way that you could stay at a friend's house or maybe with family for 2-3 days just until the most highly contagious days have passed. This way at least you won't expose yourself since you say that you don't feel any of the symptoms yet. Maybe your lucky enough to have fought it off and have nothing as of yet. I would first go to the dr.

Avatar n tn Yes. Your doctor should have given you a prescription of Tamiflu immediately. It would have helped tremendously. If you are having trouble breathing and your chest hurts, you need to get to the doctor, immediately.
Avatar f tn i was about 7 weeks pregnant and went to the ER,they said they werent sure if i had the swine flu or flu but not sure so they treated me for the swine flu anyways because i was pregnant, they gave me tamiflu....i wanted to know if there was any risks to the baby from having the flu or from the tamiflu?
982641 tn?1252025412 I recently read an article that said that overuse of antiviral medications like Tamiflu and Relenza could potentially ease the way for drug resistant strains of H1N1. The CDC and WHO are recommending that patients with mild to moderate symptoms should not take antiviral medication. Just a thought.
1052300 tn?1262940306 Glad you are going in to get checked out. Weird that they are putting the two with swine flu on Tamiflu. I read that doesn't work for H1N1, but I guess they know best! It doesn't sound like you have many symptoms so far, so try to stay calm... I'm betting it's just a reaction to the vaccine...
363110 tn?1340920419 Just curious to see if there are any forum members who've had H1N1, not the vaccine the actual flu bug it'sself. How seriously did you get it? I'm going in tomorrow for a nasal swab to see if that's what I've got right now. Basically I had my seasonal flu shot, but H1N1 wasn't out yet. We've had a nasty bug going around our home, and my OB thought maybe it was a gastrointerological thing, except I'm not dealing with any diarreah.
1029233 tn?1263966032 Hey ladies. I really really need your help. I know you are all probably tired of hearing about swine flu but where I live in Texas it is running rampant I have always been a worrier and always think the worst of everything. I have had a pretty rough first pregnancy. They found a subchorionic hematoma that was huge and I bled until I was 6 months pregnant. I thought I had swine flu this weekend after coming in contact with someone who had it.
229760 tn?1291467870 Hey ladies! I am not one to buy into all the media hype but I still believe in keeping myself and Cruz healthy and happy!!! My dad sent me this information and I think it is pretty great, so I passing it on to you! It is very straightforward and anyone can do it! (Pregnant and breastfeeding moms too) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dr.
736590 tn?1280291565 I finally called the nurse on day 4 and they started me on Tamiflu because of the MS. They usually try to start it within 48 hrs but I never called until day 4. It really still lasted through Sunday and even yesterday, I was pretty wiped out. Of course, they did not want to see me or test but said it was a high probable for H1N1. It was kind of funny hearing that term used in reference to something other than MS! Anyway... I would highly recommend the vaccine.
478429 tn?1265244387 Well, after going back and forth and debating whether or not I should get this vaccine has really been tough on me. I recieved my flu shot yesterday and asked the PA what he thought of the H1N1 vaccine. He said to me "Honestly, you really need to get it being pregnant...The mortality rate for pregnant woman is now up to 50% and the vaccine may also protect your baby once born which is good b/c infants are too young to receive the flu vaccines...
Avatar f tn I got my H1N1 shot at the end of October, I was 18w then... I had no problems at all and I was very glad to get it. I teach and I could see more and more students getting sick every day and sincerely I did not want to risk complications with my LO. I am 36w now. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn Call your doctor, I had the H1N1 at 21 weeks it was horrible ughh. But you can take the tamiflu they prescribe so if u do have the flu its best to get meds now.
Avatar f tn There is no treatment for H1N1 except Tamiflu which only shortens the duration of the illness by 1 day, so why even bother. H1N1 can lead to upper resperatory problems, and this is when you need to seek help. The media has blown this way out of proportion, many more people die from the seasonal flu.
Avatar f tn Hi ladies: I was just wondering if anyone has had or is planning on getting the H1N1 vaccination?? I was a little nervous about getting the shot being that I am pregnant and all but I was just watching the news and this lady had the swine flu last year and she was 27 wks pregnant and she actually lost the baby but she was ok. The docs had to put her in an induced coma for like 5 wks. They did take the baby out but the baby didn't make it.
721523 tn?1331581802 I need to rant. Apparently Neuros are not the only imcompitant Dr.s out there. Last MOnday I took my 4 yr old to the Ped. Our regular Dr was not in that day, so we saw Dr. C. I had just had 3 days of solumedrol and three days of methotrexate. My son had had a verry high temp for 2 days (103.7 at times). I told Dr. C. that "I don't normally bring my children in for viruses, but my Neuro wanted to know if he had H1N1, or anyother influenza A. I have been on immuno-suppresents.
151928 tn?1275707337 As far as the above post I can only say that the regular flu vaccine is new each and every year. The H1N1 flu is no different except that it will be against different antigens than the regular flu vaccine. The regular flu is made against different antigens every year as well specified to how they think it will change. Things in the lab have changed a lot since 1974.
168348 tn?1379357075 What we really do not know is how many actually died from the disease or from the actual Tamiflu. No one truely knows. I just had the H1N1 (at least that is what the ob said without testing me) and I am just fine so is the baby. Doctors are actually not testing people for it since it takes too long for the test results and since the risk of the infected person being around others in the doctors office and them becoming infected. They do not even know what is going on.
Avatar f tn Hi......i read an article about H1N1 virus..it says: to protect yourself from the virus"swine flu" it will be good for you to drink a cup of water with full tea spoon of Sodium bicarbonate daily, which will make your blood more alkaline. and the alkalinity is not favourable enviroment for the virus ...and the virus will day the Q is: is this true? can Sodium bicarbonate harm my body?
Avatar f tn About a year ago, I had a flu-like illness (fever, chills, body aches) and I went to an Urgent Care Center and was given TamiFLU, although I was not swabbed for the flu. The next week I woke up to get ready for work, but when I stood up I fell straight to the ground from severe dizziness. My vision seemed blurry and double, I had a low grade fever (100.3F), nausea, and a debilitating headache erupted.
Avatar f tn When it was 356 the doctor said it was because I had gotten a spider bite that was infected. That is now gone. I did have an inflamation of my right hip and was taking Tamiflu because I was exposed to the H1N1.
866560 tn?1265061561 Each one of us got a script for Tamiflu in case we come into contact or show symptoms ourselves of H1N1. Still undecided about that shot but the doc is really pushing me to get it. Ugh...
