Tamiflu cdc

Common Questions and Answers about Tamiflu cdc

tamiflu

Avatar f tn I have then flu now and my doc put me on tamiflu. The studies that have been done in animals on the drug don't show any issues but it hasn't been tested enough. The cdc does recommend treatment with tamiflu if u have the flu or are exposed to someone with it while pregnant. The med will cause gi upset like nausea and vomiting amd diarrhea in 20% of people who take it. It's worth considering since flu rate deaths are highest in children, pregnant women and the elderly.
Avatar f tn the virus itself causes pneumonia, pneumonia is a symptom not a condition....check the expiration date on the tamiflu and a pneumonia shot probably wont do any good seeing as this is an unseen unheard of virus until now.
944080 tn?1298919453 So I was just wondering if anyone here has had it, and made it through okay? If so, did you have Tamiflu or not? My sons and husband had the H1n1 last week, and I called my Dr right away and got on Tamiflu, which prevented me from getting sick at all. Trust me, I was very unsure about taking the Tamiflu, but I felt it was better than ending up very sick or dead. I still worry about what adverse effects the drug might have on my unborn baby.
Avatar m tn There are drugs such as tamiflu which can lesson flu symptoms but typically it is best used if given early on when symptoms first appear. Unfortuantely, the flu is a virus that runs its course----- but one must be careful of secondary infections. So, calling the pediatrician is a good idea. As I said, my doc is pretty anti cough medicine because of secondary infections but best to go with your own docs plan of attack. Hope your little one gets well soon---- and wash your own hands a ton!
Avatar n tn my son just tested positive for the flu and I'm 18 weeks pregnant ...what do I do? I don't wanna get sick ...my doctor is recommending a flu shot but is a flu shot safe for me and my baby? What about tamiflu while your pregnant...
Avatar f tn 30 weeks pregnant, has anyone ever took tamiflu while pregnant? Any side affects to you or your child after birth?
Avatar n tn I am 5 weeks pregnant with my 3RD baby. I came down with a cold on Thursday. My cough is horrible and I have been running fevers a lot. I called my OB and she called in a RX for tamiflu. I've never been on it before but she assured me that it was safe. She said my cough may turn into pneumonia or bronchitis and that may be worse then taking the meds. I never went thru this with my boys so I'm a little unsure. I did research and it seems safe. What are others opinion on this.
4355200 tn?1354593144 My four-year-old grandson, who has leukemia, was just diagnosed with the flu despite having the shot this year. I also had the shot prior to my diagnosis. Obviously it doesn't cover strain B, which is what he has. My husband and I kept him until this morning so we have been exposed big time. Does anyone know about Tamiflu and whether or not it should be taken with HCV. My guess is it's okay, but my hepa will not respond to any of my questions, so I'm asking here.
982641 tn?1252025412 So the CDC came out yesterday with their recommendation that Pregnant women be the first group to get vaccinated because 13% of the people that have died of swine flu in the US have been pregnant women (much higher than in the overall population). They plan to have the swine flu vaccine (H1N1) ready in October some time.
Avatar f tn What is more surprising to me is that my IGM results are showing more Lyme bacteria and I would be considered CDC positive. Has anyone else had something like this happen to them? The LLMD told me this happens sometimes with Lyme patients getting treatment and the Lyme becomes more active and tries to fight back. Now I have got the flu when I rarely ever had the flu and he said again that my immune system is actually responding again. I am on Tamiflu right now.
Avatar n tn I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and just found out I have the flu. My OB put me on Tamiflu but my primary said she wasn't sure about it. Has anyone been on this while pregnant? I'm worried it's going to hurt the baby. Also it did get the flu vaccine, I was only a couple weeks pregnant so I didn't know but I'm a little mad they push a vaccine that obviously doesn't work.
Avatar f tn I am not sure if the person was HIV positive or not but he suffered a recent episode of prolonged fever, chills that would not go away after 10 days ,even with taking Tamiflu and eventually had to take antibiotics under the suspicion of having a sinus infection not well treated. He says he had a blood test done and the results were good.He has not done an HIV test but rather a CBC.Would the CBC panel reveal a possible HIV infection by itself? I suspect that the white cells would be low no?
Avatar n tn told us that he was not eleigible to recieve a prescription for Tamiflu. Where can I find any federal or state restictions for eleigibility.
Avatar f tn Yes I took tamiflu when I was pregnant with my son it's on the lowest scale for harming you or the baby. In other words its safe.
Avatar f tn Get to a doctor and get a tamiflu prescription asap if you test positive. It took me almost a month to recover.
7714453 tn?1394714282 ll cause harm to my baby. Anyone been prescribed meds for flu this pregnancy? (Tamiflu in particular..) Any natural remedies? That's the route I like to go.. I've never had the flu in my life.
6822962 tn?1396329659 I ended up in urgent care where they told me i got the deadly kind of flu. He prescribed me Tamiflu and was wondering if anyone else has taken it. Did you experience any side effects to you or baby. I am worried about my baby.
Avatar n tn For the last four days I been having flu like symtoms (fever, night sweats, body aches) , seen the dr. and he perscribed TAMIFLU. In what time frame would someone infected see symptoms if any at all? 2. Would you suggest testing and if so what test would be the correct test at 9 weeks. Would TAMIFLU affect the result?
6576704 tn?1383187473 ve super sick since yesterday went in to the er tonight and was told i have the h1n1 infuenza they told me i have to be put on medication wich is tamiflu but i am so scared for my baby I'm am 31 weeks pregnant and have two other kids has anyone experience this while pregnant and took that medication was it safe for baby?
688450 tn?1259468734 They did not get it, AND when one of them went for the Tamiflu, the pharmacy was out! so, the little one did missed the window for the tamiflu. (they are both OK now) and the last was a girl who worked in radiology. Probably caught it from a patient. She is OK now, but she said she felt like absoulute ****. She said her skin even hurt. So, they all are fine now, but the CDC says if you get the flu this season, you have a greater than 75% chance (or is it higher?
Avatar f tn I have found it to be true that keeping your vitamin D levels up will really help the most with cold and flu viruses. Vitamin D deficiency is actually in plague proportions in much of the world, even when people live in sub-tropics, because people avoid going in the sun. Now, I am one of those people, because I have always been one who burns easily, but taking natural vitamin D3 in high enough doses will actually help boost and maintain vitamin D levels.
599170 tn?1300973893 do not know his status. The CDC has closed the high school for today and tommrow , a very intense cleaning is going on. 765070 tn?1384869794 The teen said that he had a fever of 102 for 1 day and mild symptoms and that thay are totally making this more severe than what it really is. He is taking tamiflu and is not allowed by the CDC that he is not allowed to leave his home until Monday. So, finally we heard from someone with this.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with influenza on sunday in the er and the doctor prescribed me with tamiflu 75mg but I'm worried about my baby getting harmed by the medication because I'm only 14 weeks...any comments or recommendations???
Avatar f tn Tamiflu is in no way safe during pregnancy. The risks outweigh the benefits I'm pretty sure.its class c. I had flu last January 7 months pregnant and they couldn't give me anything. But tell me to stay hydrated!!
